  1. My dd is doing NTGR this year and did OTAE last year. I have not noticed anything anti catholic in these 2 years. Now, I am not Catholic but as far as I can tell these 2 years should be fine. They haven't gone into the different denominations of Chistianity at all. You might not want to use the Reformation year because that year might say something negative.
  2. I have. It's horrible! It happened a couple of times as a teenager and a few as an adult. Now I can tell it's happening and I can tell myself to calm down and just breathe. The first few times my brain was screaming HELP but nothing was coming out of my mouth. It seems to be worse if I sleep on my back so I try not to do that.
  3. I'd go ahead and get a second opinion. I think most medical professionals automatically ask their partners their opinion if they are stumped. I would think he already has asked.
  4. We start on Monday also. I'm a bit nervous because my 4yr old will have some actual work this year. Don't know how that's going to go.
  5. You might want to look into renting time share points from a vacation club owner. The dis boards is a good place to start looking for that. You could get a 2 bedroom unit at a Disney hotel that way. http://disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=29 If you're willing to stay off site you could get an entire house for less than the price of a Disney hotel. I recommend Windsor Hills if you want to go that way. Floridasunvacationhomes.com is a good place to find a house or condo in that development. If you want to stay in a resort that is on Disney property but not Disney you could try the Wyndham Bonnet Creek resort. It is a time share that you could rent from someone also. It has 5 pools I believe, activities, and is peaceful. A good place to look into that is here http://disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=15
  6. We have a Mazda5. Last year when we were researching the only thing comparable was the a Dodge journey (I think that's what it was). The Mazda got much better reviews and we love that it has the sliding doors. It is the only car with the sliding doors. It's so nice to not have to worry about the kids banging the door into someone else's car or so done parking too close.
  7. You need a CT and colonoscopy. I was having similar pain but no swelling 2 years ago. Nothing was ever found and it was decided it was intestinal issues. It resolved itself after Miralax and better diet. I hope yours turns put to be something easy to take care of.
  8. We don't do the tests. I just use the reviews as "tests" to see what she needs more practice in. We also don't do all of the problems in the text book. If she gets a concept right away we just skip to the workbook. We don't do EP, Ip, or CWP at this time. Right now we are taking some time off for intensive fact review.
  9. I'm teaching #2. I finally got him potty trained (took forever compared to dd) and now it's time for reading. I used OPGTR for DD and it worked really well but was so boring. This time I got a subscription to Reading Eggs and the Hooked on Phonics App that was free the other day. He can read words if they're by themselves but the minute there is more than one word he just guesses. I'm hoping once he gets the blending down he'll take off like his sister did.
  10. We're on break until last week of July. We are learning to sew, learning to ride a two wheeler, going on a 2 week vacation, have VBS, drama camp, and a week at the grandparents. Dd is also reviewing math facts.
  11. Are we supposed to be drawing these? I never paid much attention to them, lol.
  12. We love Sea World in Orlando. I've never been to the one in Texas so can't compare the two. In Orlando there is a lot of things to do and see. Also, the Blackfish movie has a lot of made up things in it. A bunch of the former trainers that were interviewed have come out and said their words were twisted and huge portions of their interviews were left out. It really is a very skewed representation of how things really are.
  13. Can you volunteer to help in some way? If you aren't a singer, can you suggest not having worship leaders? I always find that whole thing distracting anyway(and am so glad our church doesn't have them!) That being said if you feel sad going to church and dread going its worth it to at least try another church. We were members of a church for 10 years(my husband closer to 15). Some things happened and we both just dreaded going every week. We found a new church last summer and have found our home. Our daughter had a hard time at first and still talks about our old church. She didn't want to leave but is doing really well with it now.
  14. Sour cream chicken and mixed veggies. Recipe is from Once a Month Cooking. I did a big 10 hour cooking extravaganza day a week ago so have lots of frozen meals to use. :)
  15. We went the week after Thanksgiving this year and crowds weren't bad.
  16. We have an entire basement for storage. It's about 1000 sq ft. However, if I could add more storage it would be bigger pantry, bigger entry closet, and bigger laundry room. Our pantry is only about 2ft wide. I would love 4ft wide or walk in. Our laundry room is also our entry from the garage. I have the washer and dryer with cabinets above. That is all. I wish it was twice the size with room for a bench/coat hangers. Our hall entry closet is ok but I could use an extra foot or so in width. I think it's about 3.5 ft wide and would love for it to be 5ft wide.
  17. Absolutely! If the cat did indeed live in the house just have the ducts and carpets cleaned and maybe wash the walls.
  18. I agree with the architecture tour.
  19. I grew up on WI. I remember doing state history in 4th grade. We did not cover it after that. In IL we are required to teach it in 8th grade, which is when the public schools would cover it.
  20. Yep! Coop ends next Monday for us. We also decided that after this session of gymnastics we'll stop until sometime in the fall also. Ballet has 4 more weeks and that's done too. We will continue with swimming lessons and ds has a sports class that starts next week and goes until Memorial Day.
  21. Hated Little Pear. We really enjoyed Wheel on the School but it was a bear to get through. The chapters were just so long!
  22. I read the first one. I have the second book but haven't read it yet. I am not a huge fan. The facts I gleamed from the book were good but the writing was not great. It felt like he was trying too hard or something. I chalked it up to him not having kids. He just doesn't known how to relate to them.
