  1. I joined WW last Feb and have lost 55 pounds. I switched over to iTrackbites a couple of months ago because I wanted to stay on smartpoints. I'm hoping to loose 30 more in the next few months. I went from a tight size 18 to a comfortable 12. Would love to get into a comfortable size 10. I walk when the weather permits and need to get into some work out dvd's during the winter. I also watch My 600lb Life for motivation.
  2. The last two years we had very warm winters. I think that's making it feel worse for me this year. At least it's supposed to be in the 20's Sunday and Monday. It is also supposed to snow so maybe we'll go sledding if it's warm enough.
  3. Good morning. Breakfast shower school clean off coffee table clean toilets figure out a craft to go along with studying the midwest at coop dinner is baked chicken and veggies pay bills
  4. It's our year of Disney. We're going in Feb, May, and Sept. I'm going to look into a weekend trip to Macinaw. We've mentioned wanted to go there. Might be nice if we can squeeze that in this summer.
  5. It wasn't too rough here. BUT math did take forever, and it was just addition review (started MM 4 today). DD hasn't done writing yet, though so there will probably be some tears when she gets to that.
  6. Last February I joined WW and have lost 55 pounds. I took the last two weeks off of tracking food, which was not a good idea but it is what it is. Anyway, I want to loose another 30 pounds this year. I did a LOT of walking last spring/summer/fall but it has been too cold and too dark the last 2 months to do much. I was maintaining my weight loss but really need to start loosing more again. Hopefully I can get back to walking soon. I did recently get the old Richard Simmons Sweating to the Oldies DVD set so I will add that in this winter since I can't really walk right now. I am no longer a member of WW but have the iTrackbites app which does the same thing and I can use the old program. :)
  7. We are in negative territory here. As much as I hate it, I can't really complain because the previous two winters were so warm. We didn't get any snow last winter at all. This year we already have a few inches on the ground. The kids are hoping we can go sledding soon. Has to warm up a bit first though.
  8. We made it through about 2 sections last year and then switched to Math Mammoth 7th. We never did finish that completely and just skipped to Algebra (using Lifepacs) It's much better.
  9. We are traveling about 4 hours to St. Louis. We will go the day before and take in the local sights. We were going to go to Carbondale but that was booked up a long time ago.
  10. Also, we'd have to adjust to not having a basement. Can't quite figure out how that would work for us. I think we'll need a 3,000 sq ft. house to fit all of our stuff!
  11. Thanks so much. My husband should be able to keep his job and just telecommute but if he ever loses his job we need to be somewhere he can get another job easily. Huntsville seems to fit the bill. He has a master's and I have a BSN so we'd fit in as far as education I suppose. It looks like Cornerstone Presbyterian is our type of church although Southwood looks fun. We shall see. Property taxes look amazingly low. Thanks for all of your help!
  12. Thanks. I think we might travel to Huntsville in October to check out the area. On paper Huntsville seems to fit the bill. I guess we'll see. :) I found a facebook group last night that I joined. I didn't think we would find a place with more homeschool activities than the area we are in now but looks like Huntsville far surpasses our current area in that respect.
  13. We're seriously considering getting out of dodge (Illinois) while the getting is good. We are leaning toward the Huntsville, AL area. We are wondering where a good place to settle is. The research my DH has done so far has us leaning towards south east Huntsville, specifically the Owens Cross Roads area. Is this a good area? Any specific neighborhoods to look for? We are thinking of renting for a while to make sure we like the area. I think the thing that makes me most anxious is the church situation. We are Christian Reformed and there are none in the area. We would probably land in a Presbyterian church. If anyone knows of/attends one that has other homeschoolers that would be very helpful/reassuring to me. Thanks for any help!
  14. I actually think core G might be ok. Core B would also be ok if you maybe use some of the books from G, especially the readers, for your older DS.
  15. We do it all the time. When my kids were under 5 we would start at about 7pm (bedtime) and drive through the night. Now that they're older (and so are we) we can't drive through the night anymore (we get way too sleepy) so we leave really early 4-5am and drive straight through if it's about the amount of driving you'll be doing. When we drive to Florida (an 18+ hour drive from us) we now stop, about 4 hours away from our destination, at a hotel and arrive the next day by noon.
  16. We love Sonlight but it is a lot of books so would take up a significant amount of space. There aren't any arts/crafts so that's nice. We enjoy the timeline book and stickers they provide. Which history topic are you looking to do? We also really like Veritas Press which still has a lot of books but maybe not quite as many.
  17. I'd skip ahead. Maybe she needs 2nd or 3rd grade level. If she seems to know her stuff just fast forward.
  18. Done: morning walk breakfast to do: shower school (in process) pick up house before dryer guy between 1-5 pick up friend's ds from school at 2:45 MUST REMEMBER figure out supper
  19. I didn't realize we weren't "supposed" to do the writing lessons. Lol We're almost done with the grade 5 book and we actually haven't added in any other writing. We took a break from WWE this year.
  20. Well, my dd probably spends about 3.5-4 hrs but that doesn't include piano, art, or vocabulary as scheduled school time. I would guess next year, in 6th grade, she'll spend 5 hours.
  21. Definitely use the workbooks. I have both and used the workbooks for DD. I didn't make copies because I thought by the time DS got to it I could just use the book. hahahahaha no. Thankfully I kept the workbooks so I just use regular paper and write out the copywork myself. So I suggest making copies of the worksheets if you have another child that will use it in the future.
  22. We use it and love it. We use the history, literature and Bible. I am not a fan of the history in Core A, the Usborne books, are just not engaging at all. I skip them most of the time. The history in Cores B-E is really good though. At first glance the books appeared boring to me but once we started read them they were fantastic. We use other things for language arts, math, and science.
  23. I think your DH is going to be very disappointed in EPCOT. Most of the rids he remembers are gone. Horizons (the ride where you could pick your future) GONE World of Motion (ride detailing the history of getting around, invention of the wheel ect) GONE Wonders of Life- GONE Spaceship Earth- changed quite a bit, first part is still there but a big chunk is GONE The Living Seas- rethemed to Nemo and is a shell of it's former self Living with the Land- boat ride still there but automated, Kitchen Caberet GONE Imagination- a Shell of it's former self, seriously disappointing if you remember the old version Moving on to the countries, they are mostly the same except Malestrom (the viking ride in Norway) is now themed to Frozen. They have added the Disney characters around the countries and taken away a lot of the unique shows that were there. They do still have a few shows but it's not as many as what used to be there. They did replace 2 of the old rides with Test Track and Mission Space, and added Soarin' where Kitchen Caberet was. I think it's still worth a visit but can't imagine wanting to spend as much time as he's thinking there. Hollywood Studios is fun but a lot of it is walled off now as they prepare to add Star Wars Land ( I think due to open in 2019 or 2020). It does have the most thrilling rides with Tower of Terror and Rock n Roller coaster. We love The Great Movie Ride because of the animatronics but it's no thrill ride. Star Tours is a really fun ride also. I just don't think it's a full day park since half of it is blocked off. I'm not trying to discourage you from going just want to try to temper your DH's expectations of Epcot. I know I was sad when I went there in 2004 and my favorite rides were no longer. :(
  24. It is customary in our denomination to put a announcement in the bulletin a week before the wedding. It would be something like "Everyone is invited to witness the sacrament of marriage(or wedding ceremony) of_______ and ______ at 2pm Saturday, January 28" They know they are not invited to the reception unless they received that invitation in the mail with a response card.
