  1. Just posted 🙂 I will not do workouts on my own; I do not have the discipline. The class is the only way I work out.
  2. From someone who has been doing CF 5-6 days/week for 4.5 years.... None of my injuries are the result of any CF workout. I have hurt myself while running (hamstring) and playing field hockey (shoulders, knees, calf muscle), sleeping wrong (neck). And honestly, my quick recovery (shoulders excepted) from them are the result of being in better shape than if I hadn't been doing CF. That's not to say I haven't been sore - there are days when I can barely sit down, straighten or raise my arms, and sometimes even laughing is painful. As for the rhabdo stories, I would guess they are people (probably guys who don't want to look 'weak' in front of others) who are pushing themselves too hard. And not just a little bit too hard, but a ridiculous number of reps and a lot of weight.... usually after not working out for a while (their first trip to the gym in 10 years/since playing high school football, etc). I don't think there is actually much of a risk for overuse injuries because (at least at my gym) the workouts vary a lot from day to day. However, it does depend on the gym and the individual coach. Some CF workouts are timed, but a good coach will not let you do the form in a way that will lead to injury, even if they are stressing the time. That said, it takes a long time to perfect the technique of the Olympic lifts so there are ways to alter the form of the lift while you are learning. You should definitely not be lifting super heavy if you don't have the correct technique; in fact, poor technique makes it difficult to lift heavy. Some questions to ask - how long is the intro program (before you are allowed to take a group class)? What if you have range of motion challenges, or chronic injuries? How do they 'scale' the workout if you can't physically do a movement (like wrist issues so pushups are difficult)? Do members enter competitions? Is it expected of you? Finally, there has been a lot of research showing that strength training improves cardio activities like running. If you opt not to give CF a try, I highly recommend doing some kind of strength workout.
  3. I don't think he meant it literally and I don't think he needs to lose his job, but he definitely needs to be educated on appropriate responses/interactions with teens. When you know better, you do better.

  11. You would hate my kitchen 😂 My kitchen standards are pretty low and I only clean my stovetop once a month or so. It gets wiped off more frequently, but not cleaned like it should be. I used to care more about it, but I don't anymore - I have other things to take care of - FB, IG, a good book, new series on Netflix.... My mother would be horrified.
  12. What about walking? It's free, and if you want to add weight, you can use hand/ankle weights or a weight vest. Your kids can go with you.
  13. 20+ PCR Tests - for coaching at college (we were tested weekly), to be allowed to drive into Canada, and once we crossed the border we had to test again 2 Rapid Tests - while in Canada when we had been exposed to a positive family member 1 Antibodies test - dr ordered it with my regular yearly bloodwork in the fall
  14. My aunt and uncle put in linoleum flooring for my cousin's power chair. It was beautiful and warm, and trust me, my aunt would never had had ugly or cold in her house! There are many options for patterned linoleum
  15. I guess it's the worry of not being able to charge it as needed. I go camping and hiking a lot, so not always near a charging station. Regular day to day use would be fine, but weekend trips..... I'm not about to give those up. And driving dh's Audi on sketchy side roads is not an option.
  16. I have a list of mostly minor annoyances with my 2016 Forester There are no heat/ac vents to heat/cool the back seats. I was used to driving the Odyssey for 15 years and didn't realize what a cushy ride it was. The rear wiper is noisy. It doesn't get as good mileage as I thought it would (should have known that before buying it!) That annoying auto shutoff is on every new vehicle, I think. I will hate it, but I'm kind of used to it because the Prius did that (or something similar). And I won't like the new interface on a lot of the newer vehicles either. DH has an Audi and his interface is complicated and not at all intuitive to me. I really should have done more research before buying the Forester and more test drives, but I was impatient. Live and learn, I guess. I will be test driving everything I can find, I think!
  17. Our 1997 or 98 CRV was definitely smaller than my daughter's 2014 CRV. Our '01 Odyssey van is still going strong. We gave it to a friend who did a few mechanical repairs on it, but still use it regularly. I cannot imagine now many miles that thing has on it now! That's the same year as my daughter's CR-V - definitely bigger than the earlier models I hope you find what you're looking for! What didn't you like about your Forester? I'm wondering if I'm just weird about them! I just went for a drive with my sister in her Ford Edge - its hood seemed to go on forever and I couldn't even see the front of the car! It was never on my list of possibilities, but it's good to know I'm not missing anything with it.
  18. I'm in the market for a new car since insurance has classified my '16 Subaru Forester as a total loss after hitting a deer on NYE. DD and are I are fine - no injuries thankfully. I'd really like to get a hybrid SUV and I'm leaning toward the CR-V. We had a Honda CRV from '98-'01, an Odyssey from '01-'16, and the Subaru from '16'-'21. I did not like the Forester as much as I thought I would, unfortunately, so I'm not particularly interested in another one although it's not completely off the list. The main thing I'm worried about regarding the CR-V is it's size: it looks huge, so much longer than the Forester (which is one reason I went with the Forester in '16). I really don't think they were that big in 1998! Or maybe it's just the different shape - my daughter says it has a bubble-butt! Backseat passenger comfort isn't really a big consideration, since it's usually just me in the car and lots of sports gear. The Subaru was big enough for all my stuff when both coaching and playing. Any other options I should consider? The RAV4? Subaru's Crosstrek? An Hyundai or Nissan?
  19. It depends on the country. Canada has a list of tests they accept for entry on their travel website. Does the country where your husband flying to have a list of acceptable tests? Edited to add: I found this online.... the Abbott ID NOW COVID-19 Rapid Molecular PCR test (This is a Nucleic Acid Amplification Test – NAAT) with results in under 15 minutes
  20. Oh definitely. I would never go bushwhacking in a park or along the AT or any trail; I'm fully aware of the Leave No Trace principles and follow them to a T when I'm on the AT or any maintained trail. Here (where I grew up), I'm in a rural area with lots of atv/snowmobile trails across various people's lands. No one thinks twice about walking through the woods to get from point A to B.
  21. I was actually bush whacking today! And, although it's a bit disconcerting, it is an incredibly rewarding experience to get to where you intended to go without the benefit of an actual path through the woods. Mind you, I had my phone so I could see where I was on GoogleMaps and I was no more than a couple miles from home, but it still felt good. And, I had sent my dh a screenshot of the map that showed where I was and what my plan was, just in case I did get lost (he was actually still asleep when I returned home from my adventure, though 🤣) Let your kids help to choose a trail and get their buy-in. On the trail, you'll realize you forgot something, but just remember it for next time. Let your kids lead and set the pace. You don't need anything fancy to start out; you'll figure it out as you go along. Involve your kids in the planning and once you're done, ask them how to make it better. Did they get thirsty or hungry? Did their feet hurt? Were there bugs? Was it too long/short/easy/hard? Being in the out of doors is incredibly therapeutic. Enjoy it!

Some of the prompts are a bit redundant and I usually have to look back to see which detail I included in each area, but I'm pretty happy with it.
