  1. This is what was done at the ER. It may have been due to the medical issue at the time, but it was exceedingly distressful to her and she has no interest in undergoing it again. Nope. She's firm on that. It is saliva or nothing. Thanks for trying. We don't have that. I'll check neighboring states to see if they do.
  2. I have a kid who is not yet fully vaccinated but needs to show proof of a negative covid test to do an activity. She has endured a not-the-worst nasal swab already when she went to the ER. She does NOT want to do that again under any circumstances. In the interest of getting her in to this event, how can I find a saliva-based test? Online, places usually don't say. I found one place - but it says it is only for college students (at that particular college). Tips? Or am I going to have to call every single place? ‐--------- ETA: Website shared by whitestavern led to a hit!
  3. Two of my kids have "deep impinging" overbites. Their bottom teeth actually make marks in the roof of their mouths. One is in braces now. Hoping his growth plus the braces will fix it. The other still has baby teeth so we are waiting.
  4. My kid made an account with the college board with the email she put on the PSAT. When scores were released, they showed up in her account. Later, she received an email saying her scores were available. I think paper reports went out but not sure if they still do.
  5. Like the others said, no school code needed!
  6. So, I assume by this statement that you are not in favor of vaccine mandates. I do not understand how a jury could have come to this verdict based on the articles I read. I hope this young woman is able to get help for her drug usage and any other issues. I do not believe, based on what I've read, that she should have been charged with the death of her child.
  7. I would definitely space farther than 3 if you can (based on supply, appointment availability, & local conditions). Six weeks seems to be the current "best" spacing for Pfizer. A longer spacing between first and second dose has shown to mean longer immunity to infection sticking (where there is a top end, obviously).
  8. Just a note that as of this fall, pre-calc no longer uses the textbook previously needed. It is set up just like all his other classes. And my kid is spending 4.5-5 hours per week on physics & not keeping up woth his schedule. I don't yet know why.
  9. No pockets, but I don't have waistband rolling issues with this one: BALEAF Women's Fleece Lined Winter Leggings High Waisted Thermal Warm Yoga Pants with Pockets https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DVVSL4H/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_HS11EQX27K3GJA9JJQ1G?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 I love my fleece lined leggings (although, I, too, would like pockets) but I need to lose a bit more weight before they will be easy to get on... ETA: I like a High Waist! So, if you don't, you won't like the ones I linked.
  10. Oh, sorry Katie, I was just responding to your statement that people who are unvaccinated now are not intending to get vaccinated. The one I know of with the doctor-advised waiting does not fall under the new mandate so she doesn't have a medical exemption. Just that her doctor would give herone until Novavax comes out *if* it ever does. The others, I don't know what their doctor's say, just that they say they are waiting for Novavax. By the way, can anyone link to President Biden's executive order about the new companies-over-100 test-or-vaccinate thing? I cannot find it on the White House site or the site that has the other 50+ ones he's signed so far.
  11. I do know a very small handful of people who are waiting not-so-patiently for Novavax -- at least one due to their doctor's advice that, for them, it is thebest option. Otherwise, that one would be getting a medical exemption.
  12. This is a former foster of my dd's. She & her sister are in the same home but has bonded with one of their dogs, too. Apparently, she'll take off and zip through the house as if she's getting away from the scene of a (real or imagined) crime. She also likes to try to turn door knobs. Her sister was the trouble-maker here, so I blame the dog for any new hijinks. The non-profit my dd fosters for trues to get people to adopt two, but doesn't forbid single adoptions. If you already have a cat or a dog, they don't worry as much about the kitten being lonely. I've seen several kittens becoming very good friends with dogs when they go into their adoptive homes.
  13. We know the US isn't a people who value all human life. In 2020, 375,000 deaths attributed to Covid. Same year, an estimated 600,000 abortions. All life, young & old, should be valued.
  14. I'd try the email portal. I'd do tekehealth. I'd also be looking for a pulmonologist separately. We used to have an amazing pediatrician. She had to do very early retirement for debilitating headaches. We've never found a good one since. The search continues...
  15. Well, no one in the houses I'm familiar with had a maid or other worker besides "mom" and all 6-10 kids. These aren't well-to-do houses/ neighborhoods in my neck of the country. They are blue collar, immigrant families.
  16. Who here has purchased a "burner phone" lately? Like, in the last couple of years? Just wondering because the last time we bought some, they required "registering" to get them up & running. This was with tracfone so maybe other services don't require that? It used to be easy to buy/use a burner phone but that is no longer my experience.
  17. So, the first house DH & I bought was a "country" house. None of the upstairs bedrooms had doors. They were just all finished wooden openings. The main bathroom also had no door, but the other two bathrooms in the house did, thank goodness. Since we were basically newlyweds, it was only kinda weird. We made our own beaded doorway to the bathroom. After our first was born, we redid the wooden openings to the bedrooms & installed doors. No room to do that with the main bathroom (it would have had to be a pocket door) & we moved before we had more kids. I've been to one swanky hotel that had an all-clear glass shower surround & no one but DH would use it. The lock on the bathroom door was broken, too. It was a bad combo. I am super confused that basement toilets aren't supposed to be used?? I have three kids who use ours daily (we built a room around it & it has Jack & Jill doors), and a friend of ours had one of these 'open concept' ones in her basement. That was the toilet for whomever had the bedroom in the basement. I think there was one in the house my mom grew up with, but I don't remember the particulars (platform or not). They had only other bathroom & 6 kids, so I assume it got regular use. Maybe the prohibition is regional?
  18. At this point, I wouldn't add another cat to the household.
  19. Wait, what? Empty nesting is a thing I look forward to.
  20. You really don't want this. Your box of cereal will hold less, cost more, and have a bigger chance of not being sealed. When we installed zippers on bagged cereals, the line reliability went way down, our percent fills suddenly went too high (open bags), and we couldn't actually get the stupid zippers to work. [Used to work for a cereal manufacturer] Judging from the bagged cereal we buy now, the issues are still there! Angel Soft TP rolls don't have that issue. At least I've never encountered it. On #2, you might want to invest in a box of Flip-It lids. I have not had an issue with emptying shampoo, ketchup, or soap bottles since buying a box of flip-it lids. Flip-It Bottle Emptying Kit
  21. Or, even though he's young, a UTI.
  22. Everything about our little town is different than what is going on elsewhere. But, yeah, I follow the news.
  23. Biggest in-person turnout at a school board meeting here in the last couple of years wasn't over masking (although the zoom turnout was huge for that). It was after the school superintendent was shown on video making fun of students in his living room as he watched video recorded at the high school on his big screen TV along with the rest of his family. (Superintendent's son recorded his dad & mom making comments & laughing. Then, he sent the video out to his friends on snapchat.) Most of the people went to the meeting in support of the superintendent.
  24. You may not know this, but asking in case you do: is this without vaccine, even with vaccine, despite full vaccination, only in one or the other, or that info isn't being shared?
