  1. Thank you for sharing that. We have our house up for sale. We have some strange neighbors across the street. I know there is some alcoholism going on over there, as well as some rebounding adult children with children. Rather than thinking on the negative I need to be praying for them.
  2. Thanks, Angela. I will suggest Dh look into this church as well. If the youth group is still active it sounds like a lot of activity and I think Ds would love it.
  3. Thanks, Camille. We were stationed at Elmendorf AFB, before we moved to Keesler. Can't wait to be back in Alaska. Dh went up in Feb...I don't envy him! We will have to adjust to the cold weather this winter. Right now we are enjoying the MS Spring. I will suggest to Dh he might want to visit your church. Did you homeschool in Fairbanks? Do you know if there are opportunities for the kids to participate in school activities as independent home schoolers? Thanks!
  4. Dh is currently at Eielson AFB, and the kids and I will be traveling up to Alaska in July. Would love to learn about the area through someone that lives there. We are really interested in opportunities for the teens. Also looking for an active church with a teen ministry. Thanks!
  5. Dd loves wearing her tanks or cami's under her shorter shirts. We have had good luck finding longer shirts at Target as well, but haven't looked there in a while. Dd loves the layered look and rarely leaves the house with only one shirt on. She usually has at least 3....this may change with summer approaching.
  6. Praying for Deanna's safe return to her family. Also praying for peace for the family.
  7. I Totally Agree. My dad was A.F. as well and we lived in Germany for 9 years. It was amazing as a kid & teen. I have fond memories of seeing lots of places and going to many castles. We have been trying for 20 years to get back to Germany...still hoping!
  8. First of all, we are Air Force. So this is based on the A.F. Bases. We loved Alaska! We spent 3 years in Anchorage area (Fort Richardson for the Army), Dh is currently at Eielson....close to Ft. Wainwright. We are looking to retire in Alaska. We were stationed at McChord AFB, close to Fort Lewis in Tacoma, WA. Loved it there. Ds was born at the hospital on Ft. Lewis. I think the area has grown a lot population wise in the last 10 years though. Before going to Alaska we always thought we would retire to Western WA.
  9. When you are cleaning the pantry/cupboard be sure to clean EVERYTHING. I was amazed to find the nasty bugs up under the cans and on one can they were inside the wrapper. I froze everything that I could, washed all the cans & containers with bleach & water. These nasty bugs came in in a bag of rice! I now freeze the rice as soon as we bring it home.
  10. Does your church offer some kind of Mom's Day Out program? Maybe you could take the children to church and let them have a playday while you stay home and "recharge". Where will you be in Alaska? We PCS'd from Anchorage to Mississippi and Dh has been restationed to Fairbanks. We are extremely excited to be going back to Alaska!
  11. Alice White's Lexia is my favorite. We have found Red Lexia also and I like that as well!
  12. YaY! Debbi, that is awesome! Still praying for ours to sell... Dh did make the decision to list our house on one of the military rental sites tonight. Maybe God is just saying "not now". Trusting in His goodness & mercy!
  13. The Easter Promise is one of our favorites. We have it on VHS but I need to get it on DVD as we don't have a VHS machine right now. It is animated, but very well done. http://shop.cbn.com/cbn/item.The-Easter-Promise.MFPM010609001.htm
  14. Dh and I each got a handgun for our Anniversary last year. We bought the ammo as well but have not had the opportunity to go shooting yet. Dh has the guns with him and I have the ammo....they are VERY safe and stored separately as Dh is in Alaska and I am in MS. For at least a couple more months.
  15. Thanks! I will run by there tonight and see if they have it here.
  16. Wonderful news for you Susan. We will be praying for the Lord to work in this situation for you. Heather, enjoy your blueberry bushes. It is wonderful that you are so open to wherever God is leading you.
  17. If I had my pressure cooker available I could fix up a large batch of red beans & rice or chili. I usually have dried beans in the house and in the pressure cooker they don't take a terribly long time to cook...but I would still need about an hour to pull it all together....
  18. Praying for a good showing for you today, Heather. We had all that nasty weather last night. I think it rained w/ thunder and lightening ALL night! We lost power at some point too.
  19. Thanks, Sharon. Today was apparently not our day. Once again, the showing went well and they loved our house....until they looked at the Master BdRm close & Bathroom. They are very small and this has been the response we have gotten several times. I know this just means that this is not the family that God has chosen for our home. I just have to keep praying.
  20. We have a showing tomorrow! Yippee! We have done all our cleaning today and going out to dinner and a movie tonight in order to keep the house clean. The long we are gone, the longer it will stay clean. Looks like we will be doing school at the library tomorrow! Please Lord, let this be the family that family in love with our house.
  21. Praying for your home situation, Heather. The days do get long...and we don't have weekends to break up the monotony as Dh is in Alaska. We have till the end of May to sell or get the house up for rent. I know God has a plan, I am just resting in that right now. Praying for your family, Heather.
  22. Cool! I can't wait till we get back to Alaska in June! When we lived there before we had a Cow (female moose) and her 2 calves laying in our back yard next to the dog kennel. The dogs were in the house barking insanely and we couldn't figure out why till we actually looked out the window.
  23. That stinks! I pray we never get stationed in Missouri...where Dh was born/raised. We are hoping to retire to Alaska or Washington.
