  1. I am so sorry for the loss of your brother. Picayune is very close to where we just moved from. Will be praying for your family and the community.
  2. I was an AF Brat married almost 20 years to an AF guy! Our favorite assignments have been Germany, McChord AFB, WA and Eielson & Elmendorf AFB, in Alaska. Our worst assignments has been Keesler AFB, in Biloxi, MS. We have just moved from there. It has been getting better over the last year or so.
  3. Thanks, Sharon & Heather. It has been difficult to check in much over the last month as we have been traveling. I know His ways are greater than our ways and He has a perfect plan. I just need to wait for it and join in. Thanks for thinking of me and praying for us. WTM friends are so awesome! Heather.....have you had any luck with the sale of your home? How is your puppy doing?
  4. We have just arrived in Alaska. Our home in Mississippi is sitting empty. We have it listed with a realtor to rent or sell. Please continue to pray that the Lord will bring the right family for our home. We can't afford to have it empty for very long. I know the Lord knows our needs and has a timeline before Him.....just have to wait for His timing.
  5. This is so sad. My heart is breaking for this young man. Will continue to pray for Mikey and the decisions that will be made for/with him. I know he must be devastated.
  6. We have been doing all our laundry at the laundromat for about 3 months. It really isn't so bad. In an hour and a half ALL our laundry is washed, dried, sorted & folded....all we have to do when we get back to the house is put it away.
  7. Not the OP. We have a Garmin...the cheapest model that WalMart sells. It has been great. We can have it look up rest areas, gas, retaurants, etc. I love it. BUT... Hmmm....I like the sound of the live traffic updates! We have used our Garmin all over the east coast and never had a problem with it.
  8. Yep, I had listed some books with the Teacher's Guide and had the same thing happen. I was so frustrated that I emailed them about it, but they did not offer an explanation beyond "no teacher's guides". I was really angry and haven't been back to sell on ebay since.
  9. Will be praying for peace for you tonight, Heather. We are still praying for the Lord to move this house. Last week I pulled it off the market. I had to make the decision to list it with a property management/real estate company. As much as I didn't want to do this, a decision had to be made. We are now praying for the Lord to bring a renter or buyer. He know what we need!
  10. Dh is not deployed, but he is in Alaska and we are in Mississippi....for another 18 days. One thing that my kids have loved it being able to Facebook their dad. He FINALLY got on FB about a month ago and the kids have loved that they can just pop in and chat with dad when they see him online. And they have been posting on their pages about their daily activities....they love it when he comments back on what they are doing. Dad has also added photo's of what he is doing and they like that they can comment and then their friends can see the pictures too.
  11. I am an Air Force Brat, married to an Air Force guy. I was born in Los Angeles, Ca, but have not lived there since I was 9 mos. old. The longest we were ever stationed anywhere was Germany for 9 years, but we lived in different parts of Germany during that time. Dh and I have been married for almost 20 years and the longest we have lived anywhere was 4 years in Panama City, FL. Dh grew up in Belton, MO, his parents still live there though they have moved 2 times since he joined the A.F. I don't think we will ever return to that area. We love Alaska and plan to retire there.
  12. I can try to get you a Delaware plate next week....we were just up there at Dover on Friday. My mom and sister will be headed back up that way on Monday so I can see if they will snap a pic. for you.
  13. Probably with a friend and 2 of my Dd's...ages 16 and 11. I would love to get away w/o the 11 y/o, but not sure that is possible. When you say "cheap" hotel, how much are you talking? And which city bus tours did you use? I looked at the one linked above and it looks really good....
  14. Thanks for all the help, Ladies! Now I just have to put it all together and make it happen.
  15. I am glad "my verse" spoke to you today. I need that gentle reminder DAILY lately. We have had our house up for sale since July....with very little interest. You will get everything done, just do what you can do, and leave the worrying & fretting to God, He can handle it all.
  16. How would you go about it? The only things I KNOW I want to do are see a couple shows on Broadway...Mary Poppins & Wicked.
  17. We are doing this right now. Dh is in the A.F. and moved to his next duty assignment in Alaska in Feb. The kids and I stayed here to finish up some activities we were involved in. Dh will return for us mid-June and we will make the trip North to Alaska. I will just be so thankful to have my Dh back. I know it will be difficult to move w/o your son. I will be praying that the Lord will work everything out for your family.
  18. D.Q., I'm sorry for the financial troubles your family has faced. Sharon, I like the category you have added. It will remind me to continue to pray for the families and situations they are in.
  19. We have our house listed as for sale and for rent. We will take whatever contract we get first. AND...we have a showing tomorrow!!! Please Lord, you will be done! 45 days till we move to Alaska.
  20. We have decided to list our house on the Military By Owner site as a rental. We have also listed it on AHRN (another military rental site). We still have the For Sale listing and sign up also...we will take whatever contract happens to come in in the Lord's timing. AND....we have a showing scheduled for tomorrow evening. Praying that this might be THE family the Lord has picked out for our home.
