  1. Maybe she circle the wrong date for her birthday?😭... I supposed she is on the younger side. Will the fact that she only missed one question in the entire test might disqualify for the age score? Considering it is a out of level test?... we didn't have any say on the level. It is just what school district does

  2. My daughter just had her cogat test results back from school. (We are after schooler) She was tested on form 6 level b and the test was done when she was 9 years old and 2 weeks . She had 99 percentile on all 3 batteries for 3rd grade level. but I am troubled that there is no age percentile nor profile reported. The reports says she is out of the age range? I thought level B was recommended for 3rd grade? Any idea why that is?

  3. I don't understand - you need to add fractions whenever you solve quadratic equations using the quadratic formula, since there are two terms in the square root, or when you solve linear equations and systems of linear equations as soon as there are multiple terms and coefficients in front of the unknown. I don't see how you can get around this. Not sure what else you'd do in algebra that does not involve fractions in some form...

I would agree with this. When my older did algebra and now pre cal. I feel those basic stuff are constantly used.. Not reviewed.. But used in problem solving

  4. The new CC standards are for most student to now take CC Agebra 1 in 9th Grade.

Accelerated students no longer "skip," CC Math 7 or 8, they are compacted into other classes according to the district.

So when u say 6/7. It is really 6/7/8 combined? not like there is much new topics in that 3 years but still sound a lot to combine. So your district doesn't accelerate kids at younger grade in elementary? around here, you got to get the 1st acceleration in elementary to even get considered to get into double acceleration.

It is kinda interesting how differnt area does things so differently.

  5. Nonremedial students here are not offered enough classes to fill the schedule, unless they choose performing arts. They have to take at least one study hall. Seniors have 3 classes, 5 study halls unless they fill with performing arts or take classes off campus.

Do u know live in NY, do u know what is the policy taking 2 science or math class in one school year in high school. Is that allowed?

  6. I don't want to misinform, and am not an expert in this, but the following is my best understanding.

There is no "credit by exam" per se. Rather students who wish to accelerate (as of this year) need to pass a test showing "proficiency" in the math they would encounter in the coming year (that is a graduating 5th Grader/rising 6th Grader would have to score "proficient" in 6th Grade math to accelerate. The "standard" accelerated pathway has students take 6th Grade Math in 6th (so no acceleration that year), 7th Grade math and half of CC Algebra 1 in 7th, and the other half of CC Algebra 1 and all of CC Geometry in 8th. Most all CA is limited to this pathway. A few schools in LA will do the "alternative accelerated" pathway 6/7, CC Algebra 1, and CC Geometry in 6,7, and 8. They get to the same place,. They just jam up the harder classes, and waste 6th Grade (IMO) in the "normal" accelerated pathway.

I believe students need to take an exit exam in Algebra for it to count toward High School credit (and to advance). I don't think this is the case for Geometry, but I'm not sure.

Out of curiosity, do all kids in your district take algebra in 8th? Or the accelerated pathway skip 8th grade math?

  7. For the girl

    Swim 40/ month

    Piano 112/month

    Violin/112/month

    Gymnastic/ 71/month

Tennis in summer and ski in winter about 1000/year

Horse in fall and spring 500/year

    I guess that is 5k

    For the boy.

Travel soccer - about 1000 year, including indoor session and tournament

    Violin 112/month orchestra 600/ yr -- totally 2k year

Tennis in summer and ski in winter 1k

    Sailing in summer 1k

That is also about 5k total

We do take breaks in summer for the instrument/soccer/ gymnastic

I do not includ summer camp because both hubby and I work. They have to go to camp.

  8. The normal iron supplement is the best. The prenatal vitamin should be enough if u only mild anemia. Also eat dark green veggie and beef. Those also help. I was very anemic when I was preg with my second even with supplement. So u want to keep monitor it. My younger also born amemic until about 1 yo.., so make sure they check ur baby when he/ she is born
