  1. I got a copy of Rosetta stone spanish and I'm not sure how to schedule it for my 5th grader? I was thinking an hour a week? or should it be in smaller chunks daily?
  2. what state are you in that medicaid covers this? our covd told us it is not coverable.
  3. I have an Alexander, who we call Alex. he had a friend named Zander. one day he asked me how to spell his middle name, Zander. he thought he was Alex Zander Earl. I wouldn't stress about it.
  4. our ST reccomended earobics. it is a computer game that uses all listening activities. she said to sit with my son and pause it to give him more time and teach some tricks on how to learn to hold information.
  5. My son, almost 7, has severe visual processing problems, as well as capd. we suspect dyslexia, but the vision doctor said she cannot diagnose it without testing that only the therapist can provide, which is not covered by insurance. we are considering vt for the summer, but it will cost us $75 a week (not covered by insurance), plus a 90 min. one way drive. We would have to charge it, which I don't want to do. He is already working with an OT.
  6. We are starting vision therapy with my 6 year old for the summer. he has a multitude of vision problems. My problem is the $75 a week with an ninety-minute ride weekly for an hour of therapy. But he needs it and you ladies have convinced me it is worth it. I just wish we could have it covered or scholarshipped somehow.
  7. I am starting my 1st grader with First Language Lessons, hoping my k-er will tag along some, and my 4th grader this year used BJU grammar/writing program. I liked the grammar, hated the writing. I want to us SWB's new writing program with him, but not sure where to go on grammar. Any suggestions?
  8. My son has beautiful cursive, but he prints backwards (starting at the bottom) his handwriting is sloppy as anything! What is a good review the basics kind of handwriting for older kids? I thought about switching to italics or a different style so he didn't feel belittled, but I am not sure!
  9. I visit the local elementary school during EOG (end of grade) testing and the school is totally silent. NO NOISE AT ALL! Nothing but boring tests that determine their LIVES! Seriously, 8 year olds stressing over the results of this test. Principals guarding the door to make sure nobody makes any noise or interruptions.
  10. do I have 50 posts yet? I want to sell something :)
  11. we had a minimal year due to illness with our youngest so we did not "do" science. but we learned lots anyway! we did mostly interest led, or as things happened. we talked about electricity when they installed a substation near us, hatched chickens for our farm, that kind of thing. 9 year old read a few books and that was it.
  12. I like christian Liberty press's american history. it has a story feel to it, and my children begged to read it.
  13. I've been considering this also. First in terms of submission and respect, if he is asking you to I would. I would also look at a compromise, could you switch to dial up or a cheaper service? Our company has a "lite" option that is very inexpensive and works just as well.
  14. My fourth grader just finished level E of spelling power, and we are a couple of weeks out of finishing until August 1st school. Do you take a break for the summer with this? Or should I keep going:001_huh:
  15. I have four children, 9, 6, 5 and 3. The oldest is adhd, the 6 year old has capd, vision problems (diagnosed by a developmental eye doctor) and I don't know what else, my five year old has some vision problems, and my three year old is deaf with cochlear implants and had a stroke so he has many other things going on. The fourth grader is actually going to finish a full school year for the first time, and we only did spelling, math and english this year. The 6 year old needs several hours a day of vision therapy, occupational therapy and capd therapy homework, the 5 year old needs a bit and the 3 year old gets assignments from speech, OT and PT. I don't know how to get all of this done, and I'm avoiding all of it instead of doing some. How did you find the time to keep up with everything and get it done? HELP!
  16. I like the Odyssey, because of the stow and go seating the trunk is deep, which gives you more room. We don't use the stow and go seating, but the spaces where the seats go give you storage for stuff ;) We have a dodge caravan, which also does that. I get 21 mpg with mine.
  17. If its a group you work with often I would send out an e-mail saying you think you mis-spoke today due to nervousness and you were sorry. they may not even have picked up on it.
