  1. So here's a question. Which would you buy, the Kingfisher Animal Encyclopedia copyright 2011, or the National Geographic Animal Encyclopedia coming out in September/October 2012? :bigear:
  2. http://creativemadnessmama.com/2012-2013-memoria-press-blog-roll/ Do you use a product from Memoria Press? Are you a blogger? May I proudly present the 2012-2013 Memoria Press Blog Roll! Let’s get connected and be inspired!
  3. yes, it's a short deal, but because of the season shipping is taking FOREVER!
  4. I'm feeling the same way. I placed an order and read that orders normally ship next day. It was four days later that I received an email that one item in my decent sized order was backordered and there was definitely no notice of that earlier. The email said they would wait five days for it to come in and if not ship the rest and the missing book later. If I had known it was on backorder I wouldn't have bought it. And I think being told I could now pay another ten to expedite what I already expected is annoying. This was my first experience with them and now after talking to a few people it seems this is not rare.
  5. The Berenstain Bears Big Book of Science (pre-order new edition from Dover Publications) is on sale 40% off! Only $9!!! on Amazon.com
  6. My baby is three years old! http://creativemadnessmama.com/blog/2012/08/01/my-baby-is-three-years-old/
  7. I wish we had a library nearby that we could use. If anyone knows about libraries that work like Netflix, that would be awesome...
  8. We are working through Sonlight P3/4 and a little bit of OPGTR when she's interested. We pull bits from Answers for Preschoolers (same as Horizons PK). The next main thing I'm waiting on and really excited about is Memorial Press Jr. K! Otherwise.... COAH LOTW with printables from 1+1+1=1 and Homeschool Creations et al LeapFrog videos Kumon workbooks About to start The Story for Little Ones preschool curriculum (Bible - Max Lucado and Zondervan). I haven't made my mind up on math... thinking Saxon, but keep hearing Singapore... Would love AAR pre-1 but cannot afford it. We also read a plenty!
  9. FYI: The blog roll has been moved since Tamara closed her blog. Here is the new link:http://delightfullearning.blogspot.com/p/fiar-blog-roll.html
  10. NIV - states on p. 9 of the introduction to Year 1 Instructor Text. ETA: "All Scriptural excerpts are drawn from the New International Version."
  11. I know this is an old thread, but I reviewed it a little while back. Maybe my thoughts might help --> http://creativemadnessmama.com/blog/2011/10/18/answers-for-preschoolers-curriculum-from-answers-in-genesis/
  12. What's the latest on this? I've seen the ABC and Number book...
  13. Noticing you're like me. Ahead of the game and ready to start with your two girls (although I'm still a few years away from really doing it as my oldest is almost two...). I found you through your question about laminating VP cards. What all curriculum have you decided for your two younger classical students?

  14. My Enginerd wears dress shirts and slacks daily to work. I wash them at home, but we've made a deal that he tries to buy only the wrinkle-free type and that helps a lot with the home system. There is one or two that is not w-f and as long as they are snatched from the dryer pretty much immediately after the cycle is done they all look great. I also use Country Save detergent, that might be another thing since it doesn't have the chemicals and enzymes as many brands (we also cloth diaper - hence the detergent).
  15. I'm a newbie, or rather really planning ahead. We have a few years yet before formal education begins, but I'm getting ideas and things here and there now. My sister currently has three in school and three in diapers, and her influence shows me anything is possible! My AppleBlossom is only 16 months old but with an impressive vocabulary both verbal and signed and we definitely plan on a Classical Christian Education based off the WTM. I have been in love with the concept ever since I was a long term and short notice substitute at a Classical Christian School in Oxford, Georgia. We just relocated to Memphis, and I am very excited about the conference in the spring. Is the perfect time for me to consider some more things and start getting ready before we really start some preschool at home efforts. For now, we are using books for fun and might contemplate a tot school type thing...
  16. @StaceyinLA I'd be glad to answer any of your questions through my experience with my sisters (6 kiddos who have gone through/ are in CD) and my own daughter I have done lots of research on the matter! I also have written various reviews on my blog too if those might help. Easily for expenses/value and effort I say my first choice are Prefolds and Covers. More specifically I say Diaper Rite Prefolds (from Diaper Junction) are the best size, quality and material. Next I like Bummis PFs because they are Organic. After that I would say Green Mountain Diapers (GMD). With covers I had the best experience with Bummis Super Whisper Wraps, Super Snaps and Super Brites, until my daughter was able to undo the velcro. Since then I have gone to Bummis Super Snaps, Kissaluvs Marvels covers and I'm going to try out a Flip cover this week (waiting on the mail). For nighttime, no contest Disana Wool. The best price I have found is from an online store based in Athens, GA - A Small Green Footprint. After prefolds I love two other types of diapers if the funds are available. FuzziBunz One Size Pockets (and their new hemp!) and bumGenius AIO Elemental Organic One Size Diapers (AIO - All in One). I could go on, but I'd love to answer any specific questions you might have and not bore you with the rest. I do have specific stores I'd suggest too.
