  1. I saw the same figure (1000 in critical condition) earlier today but now can't find it. Either the number has been altered, or I'm getting different search results on laptop vs phone. I was thinking NY Times, CNN, CBS - those are the sites I've read most frequently today. Possibly Washington Post or LA Times. ETA: Could be The Guardian - forgot I was looking at it earlier.
  2. Just saw a report that the man in Germany who is confirmed to have coronavirus got it from a co-worker who was in town from China to do a presentation; co-worker became ill on the flight home to China. The German man became ill several days later. The German man did not travel to China - indicating person-to-person transmission.
  3. I think if Dr. Whoever at the clinic sends orders to the lab, you don't have to sign a release to have the results given to the doctor. Because it's understood that you are a patient of Dr. Whoever at the clinic, and you've therefore given your consent for Dr. Whoever to order labs and view the results.
  4. Some employers allow retired employees to buy family insurance coverage through the employer at group rates, but not subsidized. The employee could be included as part of the family coverage depending on age.
  5. Yes I will join! My entire house needs to be purged but it is so overwhelming that I haven't been able to make myself get started. Thank you for setting up this challenge and giving me the motivation to get going. Today 1/11/20 the plan is to tackle the storage chest in my bedroom - both what's inside and what's piled on the top. The intention of this storage chest is for out-of-season clothes, and the lid is supposed to be for my bedside lamp, alarm clock, and nothing else. ETA: coming back to report, I did it. And I purged a dresser drawer too. The dresser drawer now holds my current season workout clothes that used to be piled on top of the storage chest. One big black bag ready to go to Goodwill. And I discovered there is WAY too much dust in my bedroom, yuck.
  6. Did you know there is an ABBA museum in Stockholm? The woman in front of us at IKEA today was wearing a shirt from the museum. She said it's a little cheesy but very worth a visit.
  7. Muskrat Love - it was on the radio every day when my best friend and I spent one summer making Barbie houses out of cardboard boxes.
  8. I agree with you. Also I think many grocery stores will end up being warehouses -- entirely online ordering with either home delivery or parking lot pick-up options, same as Amazon. This will combat the shoplifting losses. The store security guards don't seem to be much of a deterrent.
  9. Yes, that's the same one I have. IIRC it was under $4 at the grocery store, hanging on a little display right next to the tuna.
  10. Same here. It's blue. It works great. And it came with a ring that attaches around the outside, to use with larger diameter cans (I haven't tried this).
  11. If you go to the walk in clinic, and they look in your ear and say no infection, ask them if they can actually SEE your eardrum. A family member had similar symptoms and part of the issue seemed to be due to impacted earwax pressing on the eardrum and thus onto facial nerves. Once it was removed, the pain and pressure decreased dramatically (doc did think there was also infection and prescribed abx). Weird I know, but just throwing it out there.
  12. Last concert I went to, there were no seats.
  13. I would bring a plush fleece throw to the gift exchange. Either a Christmas/winter themed throw, or a more neutral option if you think that would be better. Last year I saw various sizes of these at several different stores for $15 or under.
  14. I was recently informed by a work mate that adding a small amount of apricot nectar to the prune juice improves the taste significantly. Oh, the things we talk about at work!
  15. I didn't have noticeable chicken pox when I was a child, so I got a blood draw in my twenties and was told that I am immune. No shingles shot yet.
  16. We ended up going the non-insurance route for psychiatrist (the dr is private pay only, doesn't take any insurance) to find someone who works well with my kids. Is that a possibility where you are? Have you looked for a psychiatric nurse practitioner? One of my kids found a way to handle auditory stuff - always wearing one earbud at school. Something about the music input canceled out some sensory issues. It was written into the 504. It did have to be on a non-Internet iPod though so there would be no issues with possible cheating on tests. School - same kid as above couldn't manage a full day of ps high school, and ended up taking some classes online with a state-approved provider. Just trying to throw all this out there because your kid and mine sound like they have a lot of similarities.
  17. Both of my parents have a lot of siblings, but neither was among the youngest. My parent whose parent was born in 1890 was the second child of six.
  18. All four of my grandparents lived in the U.S. as adults. Three of them were not born in the U.S. My oldest grandparent was born in 1890.
  19. I had the "pleasure" of a colonoscopy earlier this year. I mixed the SUPREP with Gatorade. I wish I had mixed it with plain water. The Gatorade intensified the sweetness and saltiness. I managed to keep it down, barely.
  20. Could be you have drier skin. My kids had a cheeping chick toy - it had two metal circles on the bottom, you held it in your palm and it cheeped. I couldn't get it to work because the skin on my palms was too dry. I also have trouble getting store produce bags to open. My sweaty handed kids have no problem opening the bags.
  21. 2000. My dh got it for me because he didn't want me to be stranded somewhere with a broken down car and a toddler, unable to call for help. He also got an external battery pack for the phone - that was pretty clunky.
  22. Yes. Stonewall's Jerquee. It is not the same texture as beef jerky, but it is chewy and savory and comes in different flavors. Some flavors are GF.
  23. Sorry - my book, which I no longer have, was paper. I didn't know there was a PDF of the book.
  24. I wear the "regular" width in Birkenstocks. The narrow is too narrow for my forefoot. I have not seen knockoff Birks in anything but narrow width. Something to keep in mind if knockoffs don't fit your foot correctly. Try on different models in-store. You may find that some fit better than others due to arch height, etc. For me, Florida and Milano fit great, but the Granada straps are in the wrong place for my foot and are very uncomfortable.
