  1. I never saw a class syllabus until I went to college. This was 30+ years ago, public school in a couple of different districts, and private school. I asked dh and his answer is the same as mine.
  2. Yes, I've noticed the same thing. Could this be brand-related? Many eons ago, before kids, I used to buy Jockey and I don't recall this problem. My current underwear is Hanes and the double cotton is too far back.
  3. I like soft puffy chocolate chip cookies! How do I "unfollow" the measuring directions? My cookies always turn out flat and crispy.
  4. OTC drugs did nothing for my bursitis. PCP sent me to a PT who set me up with a home exercise program. I had only a couple of sessions of PT, did the exercises faithfully, and ended up pain-free.
  5. Can you ask the art teacher for supply recommendations? He or she will know what your son enjoys working with now, and should be able to suggest what to buy. The teacher might also have ideas on how to set up a workspace.
  6. Same. I remember this rhyme from when I was little: Teeter totter, bread and water, Wash your face in dirty water. Or whatever two-syllable word that interchanged with dirty. Toilet was a popular option
  7. It was... interesting. One of my kids wanted to try it so I bought one yesterday. Creamsicle, yes, that's the familiar taste I couldn't identify. The person in front of me in line ordered three. The person in front of her ordered one. The barista seemed pretty good-natured, considering those drinks take longer to make than something like a latte. Not sure if my kid will go get another one today, or if one was enough.
  8. Does your library let cardholders print for free? I have a card for a library that does this, and can print 25 color pages per day for free.
  9. There is a Brother laser printer toner "secret" -- you can change one of the settings to tell the printer to keep printing even when the toner is low. You'll have to google for the instructions; they might be model-dependent. My Brother laser printer has been telling me "low toner" and "replace the toner" for MONTHS but the printouts look fine IMO. Before I changed the settings to "keep printing" the printer stopped when it thought the toner was low, and wouldn't print anything until I replaced the cartridge.
  10. My kids like tied fleece blankets. You can buy yardage at Joanns (or any fabric store) and cut the width to whatever you prefer. Just leave enough extra width/length to make the ties.
  11. The first home *I* bought: down payment 20% and I saved it myself. Then dh and I met, I sold that home, and dh and I bought a home together. For the one we bought together, down payment was less than 20% and it was from our savings and the sale of my home.
  12. Life on Mars -- the characters are smoking in a hospital room in one of the first three episodes (setting: UK in 1973).
  13. My kids and I have lipstick size Anker chargers and I also have one of the bigger models. They work great. A hardcore Pokemon Go player recommended the brand to me.
  14. I would be sure they don't keep plowing ahead through the testing if your child doesn't have the stamina for it. One of my kids had a one-day testing; kid was offered breaks but didn't take them (because really, it needed to be phrased "now we are taking a snack break" for this kid) and the tests were one after the other, non-stop. Some of the results were questionable and the tester either didn't have the flexibility or take the time to figure out how to deal with the tests that my kid didn't respond to. So now we have an eval that is not all that useful. My other kid had a fatigue limit of about 90 minutes. When the neuropsych (NOT the same person who worked with my above kid) saw this, she arranged for us to come back for additional testing sessions weekly until finished. This kid's evaluation is accurate. Also, she spotted issues that previous docs hadn't noticed, made appropriate referrals, and now my kid is getting help. I think I may have her do a new eval for my other kid when we can afford it.
  15. I don't have any answers :( but your situation sounds somewhat like what happened with one of my kids' neuropsych testing. It wasn't done correctly or completely but I didn't find that out until several months later. I don't know what the "rules" are about repeat testing.
  16. I think you are correct. Both children are boys. That was my initial thought, but when I showed the photo to my dd, she convinced me that they were both girls (so I voted that way). If the children didn't live on the farm, maybe they were dressed in "made by Grandma" nicer clothes for visiting or for the photo. Assuming 1924 for the photo, that would make the children ages 7 and 4, which looks appropriate.
  17. Something like this: https://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/70410?feat=512920-GN2&page=winter-warmer-jacket&csp=f although it seems a little short. So maybe this: https://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/70409?feat=512920-GN2&page=winter-warmer-coat&csp=f
  18. One kid can easily read analog clocks, and has told me that they prefer analog clocks because they like the visual representation of time. The other kid can read analog clocks, I think, but not easily, and definitely prefers digital clocks.
  19. Dh suggested Ramona Quimby. ETA: Dd suggested Swallows and Amazons.
  20. Teen, when told about this thread: "I'm sure there is plenty of embarrassing 80's music, but The Cure is not part of that."
  21. My kid wants to know if your DS10 also likes REM? 'Cause at 10, my kid liked Midnight Oil and REM :thumbup1:
  22. Sorry, can't help you. My teen is a huge Duran Duran fan :D Plenty of my 80's wave is on the kid's iPod.
