  1. For semi-formal at a country club I would do a shirt and tie. Regular attire at a country club is a collared shirt. The Jordans would probably be fine with khakis and a shirt and tie. But also, I don't see why he wouldn't ask his friends or let you ask the mom.
  2. So, my DD has had chronic pain for years, including headaches, although her pain is worse all over than specifically in her head. We finally got a diagnosis last month - dysautonomia and benign hypermobility syndrome. I have an appointment for her with a genetics doctor (couldn't get in until august) to officially rule out EDS. Her rheumatologist thinks it is just BHS though not EDS. I never realized before that she has a lot of hypermobility in her elbows and shoulders and somewhat in her knees and ankles. But generally she has been pretty stiff, too. It's weird. She checks some boxes but not others. She also is extremely temperature sensitive, her hands and feet turn purple in cold or hot (like in the shower), she gets dizzy but not dizzy "enough" for an official POTS diagnosis. Her mish-mash of symptoms and significant pain led to this diagnosis. I'm so sorry that your DD is struggling. It's so hard to see them in pain and not know why and not be able to fix it. I hope you find some answers.
  3. Seconding Ann Taylor. It’s more professional but the same company. For jeans I love Gap True Skinny.
  4. So, this annoys me and it concerns me, but I'm not going to let it take up any space in my head. I use my KA mixer about once a week or more during a busy baking season. I use the Instant Pot about once a week as well. I'm thinking about all the places that I buy food where it has been manufactured or prepared and who knows what they used? Are they checking for lead in all these places? I used to worry about this stuff a lot but I'm not convinced it would make a shred of difference at this point.
  5. My DH has been on lamictal for years for epilepsy, probably like 20 years now. He takes it in the morning. He has always been kind of sleepy - like he would be thrilled if he could take a nap every afternoon. But he usually doesn't unless he has a long drive ahead of him.
  6. I would do a light shade of cream that coordinates with the backsplash and paint the walls a color that you love that coordinates with earth tones.
  7. This in an amazing invention! I always prop gloves up over the vents 😂
  8. What is your blood type and the blood types of your kids? I’m honestly wondering if they made a mistake (this time.) I’m O- and had the rhogam shot for both pregnancies, 17 and 15 years ago.
  9. I had group b strep with my first. She was born super fast and although they started me on the antibiotics as soon as I arrived, it was not four hours, it was probably 3. I still had an unmedicated waterbirth, just with an IV. With my second, I did a garlic treatment for a few days before my appointment 😳 and tested negative. I don’t recommend doing that. I was desperate to avoid the abx again, I knew my second labor would be even faster and it would be pointless in my situation. Everything was fine, my labor was indeed like two hours and the baby was healthy. That’s my story. You will be fine and so will the baby.
  10. It's hard to give advice without pictures, but I'm wondering if you could get a new sink top that doesn't have a backsplash and do a tile backsplash that goes a little higher. That would give you a little extra room in case the paint comes off above the backsplash.
  11. I love my Oreck. It’s my 2nd one in 20 years and we didn’t need to upgrade, just wanted to. It’s not bagless but it’s upright.
  12. I always kept one binder per year that included the most important school work and art. Art or projects that were too big to fit into the binder, but I thought were important, I took a picture of and printed the picture for the binder. Everything else went into a "finished box" that periodically disappeared (i.e. went out with recycling) unbeknownst to the kids. Now that they are in high school, they each have one bin that is filled with their binders from the years prior. They decide what to keep now and deal with it in their rooms or squeeze it into the bin.
  13. I'm so sorry about your MIL and losing her so suddenly. She sounds like an incredible woman.
  14. Prior to the Miele, I had two Bosch dishwashers and loved them.
  15. I have a Miele. It has a utensil rack at the top that I love, but I do miss having a basket. Also, it does not have a clean indicator light. So when it’s finished, the light just turns off and it’s no obvious to everyone else that the dishes are clean. 🙄 I hate that.
  16. I used to have a bissel steam mop and I loved it for tile, but it didn’t clean the grout. Nothing ever did except scrubbing it by hand. I gave up the steam mop when we switched to primarily laminate floors. Now we have LVP and I just use a bona spray mop.
  17. I found DD’s fall semi formal dress at Nordstromrack online
  18. I really appreciate all of the insight here! The English teacher got back to me and basically said, this is tricky, sometimes ABC and sometimes XYZ 🤦‍♀️ 😂 To clarify, my kids attend a small, private, university model school. There are about 100 kids in grades 7-12. They have a month off for winter break but they are assigned a huge winter term project. This includes a research paper on their topic, hands-on component, project display, presentation, and reflection paper. Each grade has different expectations regarding the length of paper but they are all expected to cite everything in MLA format. The kids are assigned a teacher to monitor their work logs and listen to their 2-3 minute presentation on project night at the end of winter break. This teacher will give them a grade for their work logs, display, and presentation. However, the school is outsourcing the grading of the research paper. Otherwise, it would all be on the English teacher OR they would have science and math teachers grading research papers which obviously isn't appropriate and would not be fair. I really need to get an MLA handbook. I know there is info online, but I find it easier to look this kind of thing up in a book right next to me. Although, it seems that my original question does not really have straight answer, anyway. This is a great point. I think this project is a great learning experience for the kids, but they have not been given this kind of instruction for the research paper. We are new to the school this year so it is possible that it has been covered in English class at other times.
  19. This is my thought. For a paragraph of say eight sentences where every sentence has the same source cited at the end, it kind of disrupts the flow of the writing. I feel like there must be a better/cleaner way. I emailed the director of the school. Every student in the school needs to complete this project over break and they are outsourcing the grading so that it is not all on the English teacher.
  20. I guess I’m wondering if there is a way to cite an entire paragraph as being from one source rather that citing the same source after every sentence in that paragraph.
  21. My kids are writing research papers as part of their winter term project for school. This is the first year they are in a b&m school and the first time they have to do proper MLA citations for a long research paper. I am really rusty with this. The school has provided some info but I can't find an answer to my question. If an entire paragraph is filled with information from a source, does every sentence have to be cited? For example, DS is doing his project on 3D printing. A large part of his paper includes the history of 3D printing. He took notes on inventions, dates, people, companies, etc. and wrote it all out in his own words. He does not have any direct quotes, but every bit of information is from a source. In some paragraphs, the same source was used for the entire paragraph. So does each sentence need to be cited?
  22. In NJ this was not required for DS for his Ritalin but now we are in PA and our new doctor said they require urine tests I think every 6 months. He stopped taking it though because of the side effects so I don’t remember when he would have had to get the test. Interestingly, in NJ I had to show my license to refill the prescriptions but in PA I did not.
  23. My DD has similar taste and she loves the Six of Crows series Eta - also Shadow and Bone
