  1. Earlier today, my 14 year old was (voluntarily) walking on the treadmill and (voluntarily) reading Macbeth aloud - complete with different voices. And my other children thought nothing of it. :) Meanwhile, my 15 yr old wrote and recorded an audio drama (with musical accompaniment) in which she and four of her siblings played the parts. I love days like this! (Wish we had more of them! :D)
  2. My older girls and I have made a photo scavenger hunt for the younger kids. Each clue leads to one word of John 3:16. When they've found all the words and unscramble them to figure out the verse, they get to divy up a basket of candy. (I'm doing this instead of an egg hunt - hoping it will be more of a team effort.)
  3. We enjoyed our trip to Disney, and I wouldn't mind doing it again, but... I'd rather spend the money on a cabin in the mountains or something like that.
  4. My MIL is like this too. I'm so thankful for her. My own family is uninvolved, so she's the only grandparent in my kids' lives.
  5. I really appreciate you guys sharing your stories. It comforts me to see that it truly is hard. I thought maybe I was being a little wimpy. My dh helps when he can, but unfortunately can't help a whole lot right now because of work. My other kids help tremendously, but I can tell that even they are a bit weary of survival mode.
  6. Thanks, all. I appreciate the non-sugar coating, too. Whew... I gotta just keep swimming...
  7. My babes are almost 8 weeks old now and life is still SO HARD. Every week has brought a new challenge and now I am battling a sinus infection too. I am tired of being in survival mode. Please tell me that things do get better. I feel like a zombie. :(
  8. I don't know if soy is a problem or not. My pediatrician recommended eliminating it along with dairy.
  9. I'm having to cut dairy and soy for one of my 6 week old twins. It is tough - the hardest being parting with my half and half in my morning coffee! And I never realised how many things contain soy either! It's only been about two weeks for me and I'm just starting to see a slight change in his digestive issues. Knowing that my "suffering " is causing him less pain helps me not miss the dairy so much.
  10. Thanks, all! I rarely drink milk, so I didn't think dairy free was such a big deal... But LOL, do you realize how many yummy things contain milk or butter? On the bright side, this should help me drop the preggo weight a lot faster. :D
  11. Does anyone have experience with this? For almost a week now, one of my twins has had green runny poops - not the normal yellow stuff. He's also very gassy. I mean VERY gassy. About three days ago I decided to cut out dairy from my diet to see if that would help. He seems less fussy, but still has the gas and green poop. His twin brother has the normal yellow kind. I am pretty certain it's not a matter of foremilk/hindmilk imbalance. Anyone have experience? Advice? We've got a led appointment coming up soon, but I'm trying to see if I can figure this out in the meantime. (He's growing very well and all that...)
  12. I have a vague memory from elementary school of choosing a stock, investing fake money in it, and then watching what happened. I'd like to do this with my kids. Is there a website that could help me with this? Or something for dummies about how to teach kids about the stockmarket...?
  13. I don't want to hide the friend completely - just the posts that pop up every now & then with something inappropriate. (My kids look at my fb.)
  14. If I "hide" a status or post by a person on my newsfeed, do people see that I've hidden it? Does it show up on the ticker that "Chickenpatty has hidden a post by so & so"?
