  1. Mark T: I would be open to taking the calc BC exam but I'm not set on it. I don't need it to be dual-enrollment credit. I am taking it so that I can be prepared for college calculus and so that I have a rigorous math course for my senior year. Thank you for your suggestion I will look into it. Amy58103: Thanks for your suggestion! I will look it up!
  2. I took calculus 1 last semester through dual enrollment and am struggling to find a calculus course for this fall. I can't take a calculus 2 class at the local college because it doesn't fit with my schedule. All of the online classes that I have seen are for AP calc BC which means that the first semester would be a repeat of what I have already learned. While I don't mind review, it's hard to justify spending the 12+ hours a week required for a calc BC course when I've already learned the material. Does anyone have a recommendation for an online calculus 2 class? Thanks in advance for your help!
  3. Yes, I did feel prepared. I got a 5 on the exam. I did have a tutor, though.
  4. I self-studied for the AP Biology exam last year. I used the Campbell biology book with the Princeton AP Bio review book. There is an outline of which chapters of Campbell need to be completed for the AP exam on the college board site. There is also a study guide workbook that goes with the textbook that is pretty helpful.
  5. Hi, I am considering taking a few online classes from K12 next year through the international academy. I was wondering if anyone could share their experiences with K12 particularly their AP classes. Are the teachers good? How does the grading work? Thanks!
  6. It says in the lessons plans after the week two page: Note: There is no answer key for the Study Questions. They are desinged to help the student focus on key ideas as he reads the chapter. The assignment is counted as successfully completed if the student answers the questions thoroughly and thoughtfully.
  7. Thanks for all the help! I think I'm going to look into Henle Latin. It looks like an excellent choice.
  8. Thanks for the suggestion of Henle latin! How many hours does is take a day to complete the assignments? It seems like a very difficult curriculum, although thorough but I probably only have about 30 minutes a day to work on the assignments. It is very affordable which is definitely is a plus!
  9. Thanks for this suggestion! I looked at the website for it and this looks great but in the FAQ's it says it is only worth about 1/2 high school credit. Thanks anyway! :001_smile:
  10. A little bit of a background: I have Jenney's latin but I don't have the answer key and tests and my mom can't find them anywhere so I can't do that. We bought Rosetta Stone latin but that doesn't have test so we can't count that as a full latin course. As you can see, we have already spent a lot of money on latin curriculums so I would prefer a cheap one. I don't have much time for a very rigorous latin program and I am starting it late so I need to be able to catch up a bit. My mom knows quite a bit of latin so the program doesn't have to be entirely independent. I just want a simple, easy to use program that has planned lessons and can count as a high school latin 1 credit. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!
  11. Has anyone used Jenney's First Year Latin and can give me some help with how you scheduled it? I have the textbook and the workbook and I'm wondering if you think it is necessary to complete all of the exercises in the textbook and the workbook? I also am supplementing with Rosetta Stone for fun to learn how to speak it a little bit. Any help would be appreciated!
  12. I am using Jenney's first year latin this year.
  13. I attend a co-op once a week where I have math and science classes and then I have tennis practice later that afternoon. I do U.S. History 1 from MFW and it has a lighter day on Fridays and I set up my schedule so that the Friday schedule lands on the day of the co-op. I have to do math and latin on the day of the co-op which I will complete during study hall between classes. I find that doing homework after the co-op doesn't work very well for me. Hope this helps!
  14. I am doing US History 1 this year. Just by quickly browsing through the literature guide I see that there are many critical thinking short writing assignments mostly about worldview. However, there are also short essays relating to the literature readings. For example after reading the autobiography of Ben Franklin you write a 2-3 page autobiography of yourself. There is also a compare and contrast paper, a persuasive essay, descriptive essay, writing a hymn, an essay arguing your perspective about something, and a bunch of other stuff. At the end there is a section called "Writing Tips" which shoes how to do an outline for a persuasive paper, descries the pre-writing phase, something called the thinking challenge, the writing phase, and top ten most frequent essay problems. This takes up about four pages. There is also a composition evaluation form, I guess for the parents to grade with. And there are answers in the back. FYI- my dad said that the way the textbook writes is at a college level, it's really hard to understand. But it makes you think a lot and I have been learning a ton. Hope this helps!
