  1. I have the 2nd edition of Saxon Algebra 2 textbook, published in 1997. I need to get a test book to match this. I have found one available which was published in 1991. Does anyone know if these would work together? They are both 2nd editions. Thanks for any help you can give. Joyce
  2. Hang in there! It's reallly not so bad. I will turn 55 in October. Hope you have a happy birthday and plan something really special to celebrate it!
  3. I would suggest that she send him a text clearly stating she does not want to hang out with him, and to please stop texting her. In this way, if this does turn into a case of harrassment, there is stored proof of her wishes an that he is crossing the boundary. If it's simply a conversation, then perhaps one of the other male friends should be a witness. Then, block his texts or get a new phone #.
  4. I have Earth Science by Silver, Burdett and it's written for middle school. There was a thread about it in the spring. I think it's well written. I will use it with my 14 yo ds. I bought it used, and an older edition with an orange cover.
  5. CNN is talking about the storm as it moves into New England. There's a FEMA press conference on right now on all the cable news stations.
  6. I hate to admit, I've suggested this to my son on occasion when it used to be shown on the scifi channel!
  7. really excited here too! I have to wait for it to come to "on demand" tomorrow night, though. As I am sitting here awake watching the local news on Irene, and monitoring the tornado warnings it's been pretty stressful here so far and the worst has not hit us yet. So, I guess when the storm is over I will be so glad to relax and watch it!
  8. I live in Montgomery County, and have used Naomi Strunk, in Quakertown, PA. That's in Bucks county, but just across the line. naomieval@gmail.com She doesn't mind folks who use a variety of books for a subject. She will send you a 'form' to fill out, listing the books for each subject and a brief summary of what you studied in each subject. but if you keep it to a paragraph for each subject, it isn't a long form. She is also qualified thru high school. She usually answers emails quickly. Joyce
  9. I'm looking for the 'like' button, but will have to settle for an :iagree: I must live in a bubble too, because I've never encountered any of this stuff!
  10. I think in order to have more evidence against her, I would unblock her number and let her text away - just keep the phone in a drawer somewhere and print out the calls daily. Then, get your son a new phone and new number to use and make sure it has a good camera. I'm sorry this is happening to you and your family.
  11. I've had my son do 2 a year starting in 6th grade. It is set up as a formal lab report - objective, hypothesis and some information about the topic being studied, procedure, data, conclusion. I have him type it so he can edit and add details to it as needed.
  12. here's a link to the Hoda and Kathy Lee Show. It's a video of the smoothie they made. http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/29054368/ns/kathie_lee_and_hoda#43109109 you can also google it, and look on youtube for other info. Martha Stewart has a video on youtube about making one also.
  13. her name is Calli, and she is having surgery on Wednesday. The tumor is quite long and has fingers thru the mid to lower spine thru about 4 vertebrae. The top children's spinal surgeon in the world is doing the surgery in Philadelphia. Please pray for her and her family. They do not know if it is cancer, but at this point only know that it must be removed. Thank you.
