  1. I move through Abeka at the pace best for my child. My 8 year old is about to finish Abeka 3. Once my child has cemented a concept, that same concept is done only for review (not every problem in that concept is needed to be done on every assignment). I have used the take-the-test method with a couple of my older children with great success.
  2. Sorry, I have never used SRA, but I have used the McCall-Crabs series with great success. HTH T
  3. For writing we had good success with Essentials in Writing. I skipped most of the grammar section except for some review in areas though. We are currently using AG for grammar, but have done several others over the years (GWG, EG plus, CLE, etc.). My son is currently taking an online writing class at home2teach with good success so far. HTH T
  4. What says the hive: I have a son who was diagnosed at age 9 with CAPD/LD and spectrum issues. To date you can still see traits of some CAPD/LD, mainly in writing papers and verbal communication. He did fine in elementary with MUS then switched to TT for Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 and 2. Having used TT Geometry already with another child we realized that he may not do well with all of the proofs that are required. Anyone have ideas on what I can do as an alternative to give him a basic Geography understanding = full credit?
  5. My son with learning issues did very well with Growing with Grammar and Winning with Writing. He also did well with Essentials in Writing. He is now able to take an online writing class and is doing quite well with no help from me. This mama is very excited!!!
  6. Our Oregon Senator at the time told us at a 4th of July parade that he didn't read the bill!!! Keeping my mouth shut now :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing:
  7. I wouldn't start her out based on grade. My son was in middle school, but I started him out in workbook level 4 - that is about where his reading comprehension was at the time. HTH. T
  8. What about Math Mammoth for math? What about Beautiful Feet for history - you could cover a certain time period with books on his level and he will never know it. How about Writing with Ease, Writing Strands, Easy Writing, or Writing with Power - none of these come with a cd though. The only one I can think of that has a dvd plus work pages is Essentials in Writing - but he has grades on the covers of the DVD. I don't think the printed work pages if you print them out off the dvd. , We too have a child with DS, but she is only 9.
  9. My children who have used this program enjoyed it. It was very easy to implement from my position also.

  11. Check out the "Help" series - http://www.linguisystems.com/products/product/search If you are interested in the VV book, I have one that I am finished with.

  14. We used it for Jr AG - well, at least a couple of the children did off and on. I didn't get the dvd for AG so I am hoping I won't need it.
  15. Five out of seven we didn't find out if they were a boy or a girl. I prefer not knowing - my husband is fine either way.
  16. I like George, Phillip, Spencer,William, , , . . . . . - anything but Charles  !!!
  17. Anyone seen both of these and can give me their thoughts? I see the cost difference but what about content, etc.? T OK, how about if you have used EITHER of these products can you tell me about them/thoughts? Thank you.
  18. For me it was a bit different. Ultrasound showed no heartbeat, only a sac. We let the miscarriage happen naturally. Went back in after the miscarriage for a follow-up and found out that I was still pregnant - my son is now almost 16 years old. For me I was pregnant with twins. I am so glad we didn't have a D&C done, but waited instead.
  19. I have used VV, McCall-Crabs, Idea Chain and other things over the years. My son is now 15. Reading comprehension is still an issue, but things have improved. We used Growing with Grammar for several years for language arts. Last year he did some Analytical Grammar. He has used MUS and TT for math. My volume of VV is for sale on the other board if interested. T
