  1. I recently saw someone on here recommend "Paragraph Writing Made Easy" for this age group...so I looked it up on amazon.com. It looks pretty good, very pragmatic and useful, and got good reviews (and only $10 !) So that may be an option?
  2. Math U See is the one thing that I never have to think about changing...no searching, no angst, no wandering eyes..LOL:001_smile:
  3. I had the same problem as you....I didn't even really realize how tired I was of reading (LOL) till I got the cds. We put them in our music library on the computer so anytime he can pull up the tracks, listen and follow along in the book. I think that combination really reinforces the material, by giving them the double whammy of two methods of input at once. And it gives me a break (so I can go read to the 3 year old, haha!)
  4. You may have already looked at it and decided against it, but I would look at Math U See, especially if you have other children you can pass it down to, then all that needs to be purchased is the workbooks later.. It gives (in my opinion) the same conceptual understanding of math (although in different ways) but for us has been much more simple and easy to implement. It is one of the few things that always actually gets done, and every one of my kids love it. Mary
  5. Yes it does, thanks so much! Now one more question, if you already owned Rod & staff 3, would there really be any point in buying the FLL 3? If I just used what I have (R&S 3) this year, then theoretically he would go right into FLL 4, right? I am just feeling guilty about buying something else and wondering if I really need to spend the money. Thanks for any input! Mary
  6. I have a son who will be going into 4th this fall, and I have done *very* little grammar with him so far...I tend to be pretty lax in that dept....so I am thinking I will ease him into FLL but I am wondering whether to go with Level 3 or Level 4..? Both descriptions on the website say that they can be used as an introduction to grammar with an older student. Any thoughts?
  7. Thank you Donna, that looks really neat! I think I will order it. Mary
  8. Well, I will look dumb saying this now, but we all loved the Bee Movie! (Really, we did!!) I havent heard of Arctic Tale though.
  9. I would also throw in a recommendation for Math U See , just to confuse things! hehe! You wouldn't need to do much with the manipulatives at this stage, but it would be a breath of fresh air because of the mastery approach, they can watch the DVD, work through enough to get the idea and move on. Just a thought! I hope you find something that is right for you! Mary
  10. Hi ! A few days ago I was looking through a myriad of websites and came across a study of Paul's journeys through the book of Acts (this was a children's study, I almost think perhaps it was a lapbook) I have searched the usual places to no avail, does anyone by any chance know what I am talking about or who puts it out? Thanks so much! Mary
  11. I think that is so wonderful that they even have an opinion about the whole thing! My dc seem to me to be too passive in that area...they just wait for me to tell them what to do. I think you did a beautiful job handling their concerns and I bet you will all enjoy a great year because of it! Now, I am off to look at Noeo again....LOL
  12. I would second the Sonlight 3...it would be fun and non-stressful. Hmm, you are making me want to look at Sonlight again...LOL
  13. Amy, WOuld you that GWG is a good choice to use alongside of Writing Tales, or would that be redundant? Thanks! Mary
