  1. No thyroid labs and no obvious bulging. He just chalked it all up to a viral thing. I guess it could be. Another ds had something a while back where he broke a blood vessel in his eye with fever. He did the usual meningitis check of chin to the chest. That was fine. This kid gets all the weird stuff.
  2. No, it's not sinus pressure or pain. It's not behind the eyes. He says his eyes feel like they're bulging.
  3. My 17yo ds has been sick. I *think* he's getting over one illness and starting another one. He's had loose stools (don't tell him I told you!!) for the last week. Last night he was saying his eyes hurt and his neck and shoulders were sore. Also, his throat felt "swollen" though didn't hurt at all. He doesn't have any swollen lymph nodes. Last night I took his fever and his blood pressure. They were 101.2 and 150/80 :001_huh: His pulse was 95. He's still running a fever in the 100.5 range and his blood pressure is still up though not quite that high. I did take him to the dr this morning and they did some blood work. Said his WBC is low. Said it's viral diarrhea, let us know if anything changes. I tried to tell him that I think this is two separate illnesses but he didn't seem to get it. Anyway, ds says his eyes are really hurting when he looks around. This just seems weird to me. Has anyone else had something like this going around?
  4. For me, when my periods get that heavy, it's low progesterone. I usually end up getting anemic even though my iron levels show up normal. My iron STORES - or ferritin- drop dramatically! I use some progesterone the second half of my cycle and it's a lot better now.
  5. I'm going to start teaching 2 math classes for a local coop this fall. Geometry and Honors Alg 1. What kinds of things do I need to know, need to consider, etc.?? I'll teach one day a week for 1.5 hours each class.
  6. So true. The 2yo of some friends of ours was missing for 4 hours on friday. It made the news and one of the first comments was about how irresponsible the parents were. I try to remember these people are probably ignorant because thankfully nothing like this has ever happened to them.
  7. Dh and are incompatible blood types so I had to find out all my dc blood types after their birth.
  8. Well I called the ins nurse hotline and she said I needed to go in. They're doing a stool culture and are worried about dehydration. My pulse was pretty high. She said something is going around but usually the people have been out of the country. Gave me an antinausea and antibiotic. Trying to stay hydrated but it's tough when everything goes right through you! I've got such a busy week ahead! A meeting tomorrow I CAN NOT miss. They're already upset with me for having to reschedule it a few times. Ugh!
  9. I felt "off" all day Thursday. By Thursday evening, I was running 102 fever with severe joint pain and nausea. Up all night with fever that didn't respond to ibuprofen and pain and nausea, loose BM. Friday afternoon, I started alternating tylenol and ibuprofen. That seemed to help with the pain and kept the fever down *some*. Everything I eat or drink goes directly through me. Sat, same thing. I slept better last night and my fever is only 100 today but my stomach is cramping pretty badly. I googled my symptoms and find a lot of "gastroenteritis" but it says that should only last 24-48 hours. I've never actually vomited, but have been very nauseated. I'm feeling somewhat better today but am wondering why this is hanging on so badly. Others in the family are having some tummy issues, but nobody has been as hard hit as me. So, what do you think? Mom got the worst case of the stomach bug or something else?
  10. It depends on what you call "normal." All my blood work was within the labs range, though on the high end. Couple that with symptoms and you get subclinical hypo. Come to find out, the ranges that most labs use are outdated. If it were me (and it was several years ago) I'd call a compounding pharmacy and ask for the names of drs who prescribe armour thyroid and bioidentical hormones.
  11. Unfortunately, yes it does have to be concealed. Our state is working on an open carry bill. If it passes, then I wouldn't have to worry about it.
  12. This is a good idea. I'll have to try it! Funny how different people are! I LOVE the bodyguard and, with some practice, have found I really like the LC9 as well. :D I wear a tight sports bra while running so any kind of bra holster probably isn't going to work. Yes, I have an armband that holds my cell phone so I can listen to music while I'm running. :)
  13. Humans :D We live in the boonies and I rarely see anyone driving by when I run. Makes me a little nervous about being so far away from everyone. If something happened, I wouldn't be missed for a while. We don't have wildlife like bears or anything. A lot of deer.
  14. Didn't mean to be snarky! Guess I'm trying to multi task and getting too short. Sorry! Thanks for the links!
  15. Another thing to consider, for me, is most of the year it's HOT here. I'm wearing as little as possible while running. Some jogging shorts and a tank top. I'll be carrying either or a Ruger LC9 or S&W bodyguard, most likely the latter. It's smaller. Please don't give advice as to what you would do while running. I specifically want advice about carrying a gun!
  16. what kind of holster do you use? I've recently taken up running and want to carry since I live out in the middle of nowhere, but am not sure what kind of holster would work well for that. You can PM if you want to. Thanks!
  17. Don't have any advice. Just wanted to say I HOPE you CAN get it covered by insurance. A friend of mine had years of documented proof of back pain caused by large bOOks and her insurance said no.
  18. Magnesium works as a muscle relaxer. It helped my ds a lot when he was having those.
  19. I'm really liking the Loreal self tanning lotion. It builds on itself, too. They've got one for lighter skin tones as well.
  20. When my mom was cleaning houses, she *preferred* to do it when nobody was home simply because she could get it done faster. If there was someone home, they would often want to chat and such and she was there to work. One house often had someone there for whatever reason and it wasn't a deal breaker. Her insistence that nobody be home sounds kinda creepy as does the fact that she quit on the spot. I'm sure you'll find someone else quickly!!
  21. The Claremore area has nice hills and trees, very pretty! I've lived in OK almost my whole life as have my parents and my dad's parents. None of us has ever suffered any tornado damage. It's one of those things that's bad if it happens to you, but the chances are slim. Now, if you were moving to the Moore area, that might be another story. They seem to have more than their fair share of tornado hits. :D
  22. I can't get into mine but my dd and ds can get into theirs. Freaked me out for a minute!
