  1. Alright, so I've been reading along, though not replying. Vegesaurus Rex, the issue is that you proclaim yourself as an expert, say you don't mind people disagreeing with you, but then attack those who disagree. Paraphrasing is not misconstruing. If everyone is getting the same idea from your post, and you feel that's an incorrect idea, usually that means it's time for you to look at how you're communicating.
  2. I love anything that involves sitting on a horse, pretty much. I haven't gotten to go trail riding in quite some time, though, as there are no trails around my barn and I don't have a trailer / haven't been able to go along with anyone else.
  3. Quelf is pretty hilarious. Probably not best for a group of shy kids, though.
  4. A sieve or funnel of some sort that would trap the coins but let the sand and glass through?
  5. Thank you all for the suggestions! Going to start looking up titles and putting stuff on hold at the library. :001_smile:
  6. I love the Air Force Museum, but doubt it would be worth the drive, considering the age of her kids. It's not a super engaging museum for younger kids.
  7. Oh, and yes, seconding Jungle Jim's. That place is fabulous.
  8. The zoo is very nice and there are some nice museums (EnterTRAINment Junction, Cincinnati Museum Center, etc.). I could probably give you better suggestions with an idea of the ages of your kids and your family's interests.
  9. ***I would greatly appreciate it if this thread could simply be a book suggestion thread and not delve into the politics of the situation.*** I recently read The lemon tree : an Arab, a Jew, and the heart of the Middle East by Sandy Tolan and I'm looking for some more books that explore the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians. I would prefer suggestions as unbiased as possible, but if you know of a great book that is biased (so long as it's not extremely biased), please just note which way it's biased. Trying to get a balanced view on the situation, so I'd like to make sure I don't only read books biased in one direction. Any suggestions?
  10. Zenni Optical does sell children's glasses and I've had good luck ordering from them.
  11. Mm yeah, pretty much this. My understanding of the word as a more...dictionary? definition is mostly that it's a live and let live sort of philosophy, I suppose. It's hard to know what people mean when they identify as libertarian, though, because of those on the far right using the label.
  12. Yeah, I've lived in/near or visited all the cities mentioned, so that part is not difficult to me, but I can see how it would be tricky. It seems like it has more place in Earth Science, as Heigh Ho mentioned above.
  13. Top right is Melbourne (shape is different because winter months are opposite in the Southern Hemisphere), middle right is San Francisco (relatively cool and steady temperature), bottom right is Fairbanks (very cold). I believe Chicago is the top left (gets colder than the other two places). The other two are a bit more difficult, but if there are numbers on the y axis, it would be relatively easy to use part c to determine which is New Orleans and which is Salt Lake City. I am a teenager, but also currently taking AP Stats, so perhaps not your target audience for judging the difficulty of the problem. :p
  14. Mostly lurker here, but I did remove my avi picture (sad to see Toothless go -- I love How to Train Your Dragon :p).
  15. I have something of a dilemma regarding recommendation letters. My best recommendation letters will come from extracurricular activities. I had a few online classes last year and can ask for letters from those teachers. I'm sure they will be fine, they just won't be as good as the other letters. The one extracurricular is an academic team and that person has a much better idea of my academic capabilities than my online teachers. Some of the colleges I am applying to only allow recommendations from teachers. Should I ask the teachers of my online classes for recommendation letters and only use those? Should I list my extracurricular references as teachers of 'other' and use those recommendations? (they technically are teachers of 'other', but nothing I'm taking credit for [strictly extracurricular], and I'm guessing this is generally not what colleges mean by 'other') Should I email each specific college and see what they want? Any other options I'm not thinking of?
  16. I would bet that starring someone multiple times doesn't register.
  17. I gave you 5 stars 5 times, but you still have 4 stars.
  18. Unfortunately, I must now go to bed. A thousand curses on EST time - I always miss the PST/Australian/seemingly every other time zone fun. But consider all current and future posts liked.
  19. What if the good food is like the likes? That would be terribly disappointing.
  20. And a shoutout to SBC for the invisible likes. I like you too.
  21. Like. I'm not quite sure what your husband will think about the new wife (but then again, she cooks good food supposedly, right?)
  22. I don't know if this will be enough validation for me. I really need every post quoted. At least once and preferably liked too, even though likes are invisible.
