I have retail experience. Before I became an at-home mom I was an assistant manager at a home decorating store. So I'm looking for work along that line. I'm wondering if bosses are generally okay hiring homeschool moms who want nights and weekends.

It has become necessary for me to work part time to make ends meet and I'm currently looking for a job. Are there any moms here who work outside the home and homeschool?

My girls would have loved them! My oldest daughter has requested cheesecake a few times for her birthday - the first time was when she was 7 or 8. But we all are big cheesecake lovers. I'm an Old(er) Earth Creationist and I don't believe in evolution. I believe that I actually take the bible more literally than YEC. My belief system is called The Gap or Ruin-Reconstruction. The 7 days are 7 literal days. There are many, many reasons why I believe the Gap to be the truth, but one of the biggest clinchers for me is found in the following two verses: Gen 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. Isa 45:18 For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: Those phrase "without form" and the word "vain" are translated from the same Hebrew word - tôhû. In Genesis 2 we find the earth in a state that God did not create it in. ETA: I don't believe that this is a salvation issue.

Callanetics (the 80's 10 in 10 one, which is cheesy but SO effective) and T-Tapp. My personal favorite from T-Tapp is Ladybug, but as it's more advanced I think you have to have purchased the Basic first.

I voted "other". I am old earth, but believe the 6 days are literal 24 hour days. I believe in a gap of time between Gen 1:1 and 1:2. It's sometimes referred to as the Ruin/Reconstruction theory.

I have a 20-cup Aroma rice cooker that I bought at Walmart that I use to make many variations of white rice, but the brown rice feature has not produced acceptable results. I've started using Alton Brown's baked brown rice recipe and it turns out fabulous - but the downside is that it uses the oven for an hour.

I use it to take my coconut oil. Ritz cracker, nutella, cold coconut oil. YUM!!! It's also delicious on a warm fresh flour tortilla.

(James 2:17-18) Paul said "Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." (Romans 4) He also said, "And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work." (Romans 11) Faith without works is dead - meaning there is no faith. But true faith will naturally produce works. Our works prove (justify our claim) that we have faith. We don't work to be saved. We work because we are saved.

I canceled as well. I emailed them asking if automatic bumping and the ability to assign multiple lessons starting in the middle of a book (not at "1") would be available in the very near future (not 6 to 18 months from now) and if not I was going to cancel. They responded that those features would be available "at some point during this school year" - which means they have 9 months. :ohmy: But after talking to my dh about it I realized that even if they came back and said it would be available in September I would still cancel, because I just don't trust the company now. So I replied that I was canceling. That was two days ago and I expected a reply today but none came. Me too! :D The more I use Scholaric the more I like it.

Jennifer, thank you for all your help. :) In the "5 Quick Scholaric Tips" section it says "Make sure you set your default schedule for every course, using the course menu in the planning grid." - I have no idea what this is even talking about! :confused: Oh, and Yay! I just realized that the vacations/holidays I entered for one child automatically show up for all. :hurray: I thought I was going to have to mark days off for each child.

I recently bought a swingline one and have been using it to make books for my dd's school. We use the Robinson Curriculum and while most of the books from the booklist are now available for the kindle, not all of them are. So I've made 3 books so far, with one waiting to be bound. I also made a booklet manual with info on how to use Scholaric.com yesterday with the stapler.

What I mean by specific titles is, I like to have more than just "Lesson 1, Lesson 2" etc - if a book has "Lesson 1 - Adding Single Digits", "Lesson 2 - Adding Double Digits", etc. For the purpose of record keeping I like the option of being specific if I want to. I know I can click on each day and do something like that with each lesson individually. I was just wondering if there was a way to edit a series of lesson titles quickly and save them all at once like on Homeschool Skedtrack. I really like this feature, but I find HS Skedtrack to be too cumbersome and confusing to use overall. One more question (for now :001_smile:) - Scholaric doesn't have a library feature where you can add books to be used later. Do you just create lessons for the books as you get to them or do you add several of them in under History or Literature and then just schedule them when you are ready?

Thank you! I've been reading the blog and trying to get acquainted with it. I think I might write to the developer and see if it would be possible to have a initial set-up feature that would set parameters for all users. There are certain days that we won't be doing school do to other events going on, and right now it seems I have to go through the whole year for each student to mark those days off.

I've decided to try Scholaric and possibly cancel my subscription to My Well Planned Day software. I have a few days left to decide. So I signed up for a free trial to scholaric just now. I've created a few course titles for a student, but I'm not seeing how to create a series of lessons that then automatically get assigned to certain days. ETA: Well, I sort of found it. But on the Calendar it showed up as Lesson 61 to 141...on every day. So with Scholaric, you can't edit the series of lessons to throw in a test within the lesson plan if you want, or give specific titles to the lessons? It seems like the only planner that will do what I want is Simply Charlotte Mason and it's too expensive. :(

I realized I was using a very outdated version of Firefox. Since updating the calendar is working and displaying much better.

Does anyone know if they are planning to make the Lesson Plans more customizable? If we are in the middle of a book (as we are) I don't want the calendar to say "Lesson 1" when we are really at lesson 60! I tried to trick the system by entering all the lessons from the book and adding assignments starting at Lesson 60, but then I can only add them one by one, which would take forever! I can only add bulk assignments if I start at "1". I'm starting to get frustrated with this thing. I've got 2 weeks until my 30 days is up. Personally I think the 30 day trial should start for everyone when the full version is released. I can't even enter an event on the calendar. When I hit "save" it just sits there doing nothing.

Is anyone here actually using it for anything yet? I bought it shortly before the $40 sale ended. The clincher for me was knowing I could get the 2nd year for $40 as well. I *hope* that it will be really good soon but I'm losing faith that the full release this month will work the way I think it should. Two of my daughters are in the same math book, but in different places. I entered the book under Curriculum, chose that it was for both girls to use, then tried to create a lesson plan and discovered that there was no easy way to say that one girl is starting on Lesson 62 while the other is on Lesson 16. All the Lessons start at "1" and showed up for both girls on the calendar.
