  1. I'm reading in addition to prison time, $50,100 in fines.
  2. Day before sentencing, judge denies motion for new trial. https://wreg.com/news/nation-and-world/no-merit-says-federal-judge-in-denying-duggars-motion-for-a-new-trial/
  3. Kohls worked for us this year when trying to find time for shopping and trying on was not happening in the store.
  4. I'm parent of "non NT" children (all adult age now). I would want someone to tell me so I could work on this social skill in broader areas. That skill being "inappropriate touch" not "nursing vs bottle". When I'm out and about with youngest dd in group social stuff for "non NT", there are some of these adults with disabilities who are in their 20s and still inappropriately touching people. It's about the safety of the young man as he gets older. I recall a time several years ago that my youngest did something where another parent was embarrassed to tell me but hey, I had to know so I could teach her. I was thankful the other parent told me so I could work with it too. I hope the parents in the OP's case also would want to know with their tween child even if they don't realize he is not NT. funny moment for me reading this thread. Tenaj's story above reminds me of some episode of Star Trek TOS where Charlie X had to learn not to smack the female crew members on the butt the same way the male crew were doing after that with close hang out friends. You just don't know how people process events and they need to learn in kind ways.
  5. My dd's piano teacher does something similar. A get to know you session and see if it will work out and not full 30 minute lesson either. I think she tried a one class trial option at low cost with adult students. That way it was not "free" but not "full month or full year price" either. Generally speaking though, don't give away service for free. very true on that.
  6. Here's a list from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Career center for ideas for non binary career dress for interview and professional. I think the list is from 2016 https://uwosh.edu/career/wp-content/uploads/sites/38/2016/05/LGBTQandGenderNon-binaryResources.pdf Maybe there's a student resource page at the college career center with similar ideas
  7. and the judges have given their awards this year at the World Championship BBQ cooking contest in Memphis.... and a fun side story about how a team from Brazil are spreading the love of BBQ https://www.actionnews5.com/2022/05/15/brazilian-barbecuers-use-memphis-may-experience-help-popularize-american-bbq-home-country/ and Mexican BBQ in Memphis too on this story https://www.actionnews5.com/2022/05/14/wcbcc-grand-champion-be-named-tonight/
  8. agreeing with above. don't have to like wrestling or use wrestling name. There's a little bit of wrestling stuff tossed in for fans to smile such as "hulk it up" or calling "warrior position" Road Warrior and someone says "what a rush!" But if you're not a fan it just becomes something you do in class and you don't have to understand that at all. I"m guessing I miss other references and doesn't matter. make the workout your own (modify as needed to build strength). Use chair or bed versions as needed Don't get frustrated if think you should be doing a harder workout. customize. hit pause if needed for a second or two, or just come back in. you can change levels and workouts if you're above or below ability. yes take the pictures to show yourself progress. I couldn't believe how much I was able to improve flexibility until I could see it. Give it a try. Get a heart monitor to see how much your heart rate goes up. hope you like it. after several weeks even my dh joined in.
  9. round in shape. about size of golf ball. cornmeal based batter, deep fried photos and recipe....https://therecipecritic.com/homemade-hush-puppies/
  10. I think Dawn's recipe link went to something else because when I clicked it went to a NC style. White bbq sauce (aka Alabama style) here https://www.southernkissed.com/alabama-white-barbecue-sauce/ or on the site Dawn was using, this link https://www.chilipeppermadness.com/chili-pepper-recipes/dips/white-bbq-sauce/ it's mayo, horseradish, and a few others things including vinegar
  11. Either I can't tell that you're laughing with us, or I feel like this may need cross cultural translation. In Southern culture, it's a form of joking with "looking for a fight" when southerns (in the US) are talking about BBQ. It's a form of "back porch bickering" that is done as a sense of bonding and developing a sense of community over fun stuff. We southerns do that with things like BBQ, and which sauce is best. or college football teams (and sometimes professional ones too, but more often with college), which fast food place has the best biscuits, or fried chicken. Or whether or not Arkansas is really a southern state. stuff like that. Usually done to elicit jokes, laughs and memories. maybe check out a youtube channel It's a Southern Thing. to get more context. They have a lot of those "back porch pickering" segments. It's not really that something is extra special about the food, but extra special about the memories and such. For example, in Roanoke, VA, people stand in line for a bowl of chili with onions at the Texas Tavern. they feed 1000, just 10 at a time. Or in Memphis, go to Jerry's Sno Cones. why? because. well ok no one really knows why. or St Louis the frozen custard place Ted Drewes. why? it's on the old route 66 and is long standing tradition and they turn it upside down quickly before serving it to you. BBQ is about what you get at the college football tailgating party, or the neighborhood block event. oh great, I just took a back porch bickering topic and turned it academic about sociology of food. I'm stopping now on that. Besides that, I'm really thinking of trying hushpuppies as side dish with pulled pork instead of using a bun. hmmmm... wonder if they'll let do that at Leonards in Memphis.
  12. truth! that well known children's cancer hospital is featuring Leonards BBQ this week. dh had his pulled pork with mustard based slaw on top. hushpuppies and BBQ? Where I've live, hushpuppies go with fish. never knew other regions did that differently. oooh... could be fun to try. LOL
  13. If you can get to Memphis this weekend, there is the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest (as part of Memphis in May). bbq involves pulled pork, ribs, chicken is ok. and at the contest you might find alligator. but, Pig. think Pig. pork. chicken is permissible. find news stories about the contest and you'll see videos of what bbq is. It is the food of community. I'm still laughing at the sloppy joes. that's just so funny "I ain't got words". ground beef with canned sauce. nope. and no, a grill in backyard is not bbq. BBQ is a noun not a verb. check out "it's a southern thing" youtube for "How to find the best BBQ in the south". They make a really good case for Memphis and big cities not being the best.
  14. tagging on with dmmetler's angle at the top. One show I saw on animal planet once upon a time, did something like that with 45 degree barrier and it deterred the cats from jumping. The people with the cat who climbed everything was not stopped by really tall fence. But with the barrier they stopped with standard height fences. probably didn't totally jump proof it, but who knows? they show what they want to show on tv. I can't seem to find a good article to explain how to, but I'm sure there's something out there.
  15. fences are nice for other reasons. probably not a total waste. but .... maybe ideas from Jackson Galaxy on making Catios would be helpful? here's one link on that https://www.jacksongalaxy.com/blog/what-is-a-catio/ and some of them include using the privacy fence as part of it.
  16. agreeing varies with majors and the school. my oldest is not the norm......... Oldest dd: was able to get 3 related majors - computer science, electrical engineering, and math -- done in 4 calendar years. 3 BS are on transcript. She had no AP or DE going in. She did it in 4 years with 18 credit hours each semester, plus summer courses for gen ed and a CLEP. declared third "major" in junior year as upgrade from it being a minor. the few students who do that triple typically take 5 years. Others at her college who do double with EE/CS or CS/Math get it done in 4 without summers typically needed. (edit: summers were between freshman and soph, and soph and junior. summer between junior and senior was internship) back a lifetime ago... dh had dual majors of math and chemistry in 4 years. but he had about 28 AP credits and math DE when he entered freshman year. He probably could have graduated in less, but also got to have fun in there with French minor. also lifetime ago, a friend (from same undergrad as dh and me) was double major Physics and Literature. She needed 4 years for that. but that was lifetime ago
  17. blush. I've never even been invited to the HS reunions or known if they happened. same with dh (we didn't go same hs).
  18. infrequent user experience here. Cashapp. I didn't like that to use it, I had to link to bank account and input my bank's login credentials into cashapp. Maybe I'm too old, but I didn't like that part. So, for those weird few times I need "not paypal", I use "cash app debit card". That way it's a low balance card that does not have to be linked to my bank. easy to receive funds. and I can use the "debit card" online or in store. I haven't done the add cash to it yet. supposed to be easy to do if I go to walmart with paper money and add it to the cashapp debit card. Again, I'm an infrequent user and only keep low balance. But a few workers I hire accept cash app for those odd jobs.
  19. No. who does that? LOL. I'm just being silly. I remembered I've been to a potluck style of wedding reception and it was nice. The couple had a friend who gifted the champagne. And the couple purchased the cake. All else was potluck style and bring a dish to share. It was third wedding for bride (who is my MIL) and second for groom (and they were in their mid 40s in the late 1980s). The idea was in lieu of gifts that we don't need, bring a food to share. It didn't bother family or friends and it was nice. I've seen small weddings where the reception was guests purchased their own buffet at the restaurant. The idea was in lieu of gifts we don't need. Instead it was spend under $10 per person and celebrate together. Mine (which was about 6 months after MIL's thrid wedding mentioned above) mid afternoon event, cake and punch with fruit trays at the church. and we needed gifts since we were just out of college and didn't have established households yet. my dress was $10 off the rack out of season clearance prom dress.
