  1. Thank you! Off to order a copy now! His writing style is brilliant.
  2. I ended up paying for part of mine AND making the food. Wouldn't have been a big deal, but I never asked for the shower.
  3. I am sure you all remember the book this came from: The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea In a beautiful pea green boat, They took some honey, and plenty of money, Wrapped up in a five pound note. The Owl looked up to the stars above, And sang to a small guitar, 'O lovely Pussy! O Pussy my love, What a beautiful Pussy you are, You are, You are! What a beautiful Pussy you are!' My daughter read that to me when she was 5. I threw the book away. (She didn't know I threw it away and I didn't make a big deal out of it...but...:svengo:)
  4. In the case of a few people here it truly looks like pot-stirring. Maybe not every spin-off, but for several, they come across loud and clear. And it's not less judgmental, but I am not making S/O threads, tagging posts and making a general spectacle, either.
  5. Pringles are one of those things that I NEVER want....until I eat one. Then I finish the can. :001_huh: Same with popcorn. I am not entirely sure I even LIKE popcorn. I am going with your crack theory.
  6. What breed of adorableness is that in your siggy? :001_wub:
  7. When you see page after page after page of spin-offs and accusations, it becomes easier to see who likes to keep the pot stirred. That's all. :001_smile:
  8.--I am still giggling over your ethernet cable statement. :D
  9. But that is not what happens. Asking someone to clarify is one thing. Full-blown War On Trolls is another. In all of this "troll-outing" quite a few troublemakers have "outed" themselves. Again.
  10. Well then why can't the "outing" be enough? Just someone throw up a quick "your story doesn't make sense" and leave.it.alone. The Troll will usually out themselves with how they respond. Quit feeding a Troll and it will look elsewhere for food.
  11. Respectfully, doesn't the constant attention to "The Trolls" and thread after thread of "spin-offs" affect the integrity of this board? It's made me look at the boards in an entirely different light.
  12. I giggled when I read this because I frequently get this look::001_huh: when the kids see me muddling through the pronunciation. I am learning to read a chapter ahead and master the names before I read. :D
  13. I was about to respond with Fifth Disease, but I see I have been beat to the punch. ;) I hope your little ones feel better soon!
  14. I did want to add, though...You did the right in protecting your children. It's just a horrible situation all the way around. :grouphug:
  15. This disease has the potential to rip the ability to act in a grown-up manner away. It's progressive. It does not get better.
  16. I am so very sorry. :grouphug: Every single bit of what you described sounds VERY typical of Alzheimer's. I'm not sure why her Dr. would brush it off. There is a book titled Love Never Sleeps. It could be a tremendous help to family and caregivers. It's going to be a very, very long road. My advice is to find a loving, supportive network of people immediately. Your mother-in-law needs you guys now more than ever.
  17. I was mortified watching the video. I tried to show my husband later that evening and he asked me to turn it off. He couldn't watch.
  18. What she did is horrible, yes...but she was seeking help and in the process was exploited by "Dr." Phil. I fear others in her situation will not seek help for anger for fear of....this...Sad. No matter how you look at it.
  19. You're not alone! As I whole, I know I am doing what I believe is best for our family. But I still have the occasional day where I wonder if it is too late to get them enrolled in the nearest public school. :):grouphug:
  20. ....when you have a **lightbulb** idea, execute it, and then realize you're not entirely sure if you came up with it on your own. :D Info. Overload. Too. Much. Information. Really, I'm still not sure if I read it, mentally filed it for later or if I had a good idea. LOL
  21. Year 2 starts for us tomorrow. 1/2 of the books haven't arrived yet. We're plowing ahead anyway. They have been after me to start back for weeks, so I really think we can make do with what we have. Good luck to you all!
  22. Thank you guys so much for the help. The link to the old TT thread has been immensely helpful. I have seen Chalk Dust mentioned several times. I am going to do a bit of research on that one now. We used Saxon last year..Math 3 and Math 54. The girls did fine with it, but I can not describe the loathing I have for Saxon. :glare: No program is going to be beneficial if I lack the confidence/ability to teach it.
  23. It looks just perfect at face value. Thanks for your input! :001_smile:
  24. I've been doing more reading on TT and I am starting to worry that using the program would put my children behind. I am *so* not a math person, in fact, I actively hate it, but I REALLY don't want to pass my hatred on to my children. *sighs*
  25. :iagree: Sometimes those threads get so hateful that I would like to suggest that the offended home schooler wear a T-shirt that says...."I Home School. Don't Talk To Me." :001_smile:
