  1. When I'm traveling with just my 3 kids, the older two must walk together in front of me. I hold the hand of the youngest. This allows me to keep track of one group of kids instead of three separate kids. They don't need to walk super close to me, but they do need to wait for me to catch up at every intersection. I did lose them once in a very busy parade. They turned around because they knew I was behind them and we met up again.
  2. Amazon told me all of the details of my savings last week just before the price change announcement. I barely glanced at it. I wish I could see it again. I'm definitely thinking of quitting.
  3. I just checked Hanna Andersson's site to confirm the underwear. The top pair in the picture is the regular hipster instead of the mid rise hipster. I don't know the size difference between those two. There is a difference in the fabric.
  4. This is a pair of large classic underwear under a pair of large mid-sized. I thought a picture would be better.
  5. You may be able to cover it in 1 - 3 days. The pace for the online classes is .5 - 2 chapters per week with 1 chapter per week being pretty common, so doing it that quickly isn't crazy.
  6. Here is a list of math camps put together by AOPS. You could also just google AOPS summer camp if the link doesn't work.
  7. My daughter had extensive 2nd degree burns last year. It healed quicker than I expected. They started her on physical therapy the day after the burn. She couldn't lift her arm at all. Two weeks later she was back in gymnastics. I hope your son recovers quickly.
  8. I've left from Northern Virgina at various times of day and have never had a big problem. I've left during morning rush hour and afternoon rush hour. Maybe I've been lucky.
  9. If you go to the Louisville Slugger Museum, you get a free mini bat. You'll need to check a bag if you want to fly home with it. I agree with the suggestions already given. The Science museum, Frazier, Falls of the Ohio, and Derby museum are nice. The South side of Louisville is not that bad. It's the blue collar side of town. Check the rocks used as landscaping in parking lots and near businesses. There are lots of fossils in the area.
  10. I recommend looking at Ikea kitchens. Their drawer system for base cabinets and deeper upper cabinets allow you to store more in the same amount of kitchen space. The price is also extremely competitive. They are having a sale right now through some time in April. I'm not sure if they have design services.
  11. If you're military, contact the patient advocate at the hospital. If that doesn't work, file an ICE complaint. Those get immediate action. I learned both of these tips the hard way.
  12. Yes, but the kid's book is much better.
  13. If you're okay with not going back to your room during the day, you could look at hotels in NJ. We usually stay in the Meadowlands area and take the bus to Port Authority which is right next to Times Square.
  14. I was going to recommend Bomb as well. It's not really geared towards kids at all, but The Elephant Whisperer is really good. My 13 year old has listened to it several times over the years. It's a true story of a guy that accepted rogue elephants into his South African wildlife preserve and his efforts to help them. For kids books, I would recommend Joe: The Horse Nobody Loved narrated by Dorothy Deavers. It was one of the best narrations I've heard. We were all laughing.
  15. Rhode Island, Boston, and Acadia National Park. Maine is lovely. You could just go as far as Portland if you didn't want to drive as far. Newport to Portland is just over a 3 hour drive with Boston in between. Traverse City, Michigan is also very nice. Savannah, GA or Charleston, SC because the south is missing from your list. Don't go in the summer.
  16. It really depends on where you live. Some climates are better suited for fruit trees. Google your state extension office. They will have information about what will grow in your area and the type of care involved.
  17. We used to have neighbors that would knock on our door and ask to use our bathroom. I thought that was really weird since they only lived two houses down. Now I wonder if it is because they were kicked out of the house and told not to come back in too early. They were raised by their grandparents.
  18. That reminds me of this article. The parents got together to hire coaches. https://www.npr.org/sections/thetorch/2018/01/27/580826097/a-short-track-to-the-olympics-for-washington-d-c-area-speedskaters "This year, 9 of 32 short track speedskaters who competed in the Olympic trials came from the Washington, D.C. region. Two of the eight athletes who ended up making the U.S. Olympic speedskating team are from the D.C. suburbs."
  19. You could put it in the attic until they are older. I bought a lovely, used table years ago. It no longer looks lovely. My 13 year old son recently apologised.
  20. I did a 10 hour trip with my first when he was tiny. It was super easy. I did a 10 hour trip when my third was tiny and it was the worst trip ever. She hated the car. Like a pp, I had a kid who could barely handle 5 minutes to the grocery store. She was inconsolable in the car seat. Never in her life was I able to do anything that made it better for her. She cried until she was out of the seat. There was no calming her down and putting her back, because she would just cry again. She outgrew it eventually.
  21. Starting March 1, the Met will charge admission. None of my kids like art enough to recommend it as their top pick. All 3 kids said you should see a Broadway show. They also recommend Central Park. My oldest said to find some good food. If you're not doing the Statue of Liberty, then I would recommend the free Staten Island Ferry for a good view. The Statue of Liberty requires advance reservations. We went recently and it took longer than expected to tour everything. Ellis Island was really interesting. We caught the first ferry and made it back around 2. We didn't exhaust Ellis Island.
  22. A guy in front of me at one of the Smithsonian museums was carrying a pocket knife. Security recommended he hide it in the bushes. They wouldn't hold it for him.
  23. I bought a pair from swimoutlet.com for my son as a Christmas present. He loves them.
  24. Turbie Twist hair towels are incredible. It stays in place and is so light weight. My daughters have some now too. They use them after swim. I bought mine at Walmart in single packs. https://www.amazon.com/Turbie-Twist-Microfiber-pack-Purple/dp/B01D9O1GA6/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1515691809&sr=8-3&keywords=turbie+twist
  25. I installed Whatsapp last week. I could not get it to work without allowing access to my contacts. I didn't spend much time looking for a way around it so if you discover it let me know.
