  1. Yes, I've definitely let her know it's not negotiable. I talked to her before I chose our curriculum this time and I think I've come up with a good mix. I've checked into online classes and some look great, but a limited income doesn't really point in that direction. Her math and science will be taught via teacher on CD so hopefully that will work well. Language Arts and History will pretty much be independent, which is what she suggested. Bible is still up in the air. Not sure which we'll go with that would be the best for her age. I don't know of any other team sports in our area that she could participate in, but I sure wish were a few.
  2. We're having the same problem with our dd that someone else posted earlier. She went to public school K-4th and we homeschooled for 5th, 6th, and 1st half of 7th. Then we placed in a private christian school for the remainder of the year because of the social aspect. She made some friends but the friendships were most "superficial" unfortunately and we had a few bad experiences causing us to go back to homeschooling for her 8th grade year next year. She is very independent and a quick learner, but she CAN'T STAND being alone in the 'classroom'. Also she's turning 13 in a couple of weeks and I'm sure alot of the attitude I get is from 'hormones'. I would LOVE some fresh advice on how to handle the situation we're in to hopefully make things a little lighter. BTW, for her 8th grade year, she'll be in a co-op class once a week and as soon as our covering's volleyball team starts up she'll be participating.

  4. We are gonna be using Derek Owens pre-algebra and physical science for this upcoming year. I'm so excited; I've heard lots of AWESOME things about his curriculum. If I were you, I would definitely give it a try:001_smile:
  5. From what I can see, Hake Grammar and Writing is all inclusive: grammar, writing, spelling, and vocabulary
  6. Would appreciate everyone's input... Can't make up my mind. Thanks for any help:)
  7. I really need your opinions on what you think is the best complete language arts curriculum/program for 8th grade. I would greatly appreciate your input. God Bless
  8. I'm debating on which history to go with and just needed some opinions from those who have experienced one or both. Thanks
  9. Ok, thanks for your replies. I've never used WWE so I wasn't sure what it included. I will definitely check into other resources.
  10. I'm wondering if WWE would be sufficient for a complete language course for my dd who will be in 8th grade next year. Any input is appreciated. God Bless
  11. I've looked at Hippo campus and as awesome as it is, it's all US History. I will definitely consider it when going through High School.
  12. I'm still learning the abbreviations:p What does VP stand for?
  13. Our child will be in 8th grade next year and I'm am needing some advice on what History to go with. I'd like to have a world history and geography to 1500 A.D; preferably one with lecture cd's because she doesn't enjoy history at all; especially when I'm trying to explain it to her. Please help!!
