  1. i have never used it, but looked it up and am guessing it is sort of between cream and cream cheese.
  2. isn't it a type of cheese? if it looks and smells and tastes fine I would eat it.
  3. My DH bought 4 20kg sacks of wheat from the animal feed shop just for making bread, as there is no flour to be found anywhere. My brother rang last night and he has done the exact same thing. He (my brother) used his electric coffee grinder and ground up one cup of wheat. He discovered that one cup of wheat makes two cups of flour. keep us posted on how your flour mill goes our energy the last few days has been on getting our very large veggie garden netted in to exclude the Satin Bower Birds. They are ravenous vegetarians that absolutely love eating all veggies and have invited all their friends and relatives in for the feast.
  4. you can usually get chooks year round here. Don't forget all of Aus can have chooks outside all year round
  5. try living rural where you have to drive 100 km to a decent shopping centre to find that the shelves are empty.................
  6. Is your bother seriously ill and expected to die soon?
  7. there is a run on seedlings and some seeds here, and has been for a week. you can still get some seeds but may have to go to several shops. sprout seeds are sold out everywhere. There apparently is a run on chooks, and apparently you cannot buy a chook anywhere.
  8. Quite frankly I think that China was way more open about Coronavirus than USA has been
  9. They are testing others in my state. I personally know someone being tested. They haven’t traveled overseas
  10. Dh and I spent most of the day working on netting in the top of the garden. another full day might have it finished. I also planted out some cabbages, celery, and silverbeet seedlings yesterday I planted carrots, beetroot, spinach, rocket, turnip, and mustard seeds in the garden, and in the greenhouse I planted some Broccoli, Cauliflower, Chinese Cabbage, onions, and spring onions seeds into trays Ds16 is sad, He has been told that TAFE will not be running after next week, and today he was told that his work is shutting down for a while. He will have nothing at all to do. 😞
  11. DD is coming home from Uni tomorrow. the Uni has worked out a way to make workshop classes able to be done remotely.
  12. twins swimming is canceled as an instructor at the pool has flue like symptoms, so the whole pool is now closed
  13. at least one bus full of people from Melbourne has traveled around the state emptying the small shops of food in rural areas. it has happened to the small shops in my area and I am hearing reports of it happening in other areas as well. 😞
  14. dd is Ok, she was pretty stressed until the Uni suspended all classes. she is in a home-stay accommodation , run by my brother's MIL an Italian mother kind, who has apparently completely freaked out and not allowing any of the home-stay students to leave the house. DD is waiting to find out what the university are planning to do in regards to her studies. if they change the course content o something she can do remote then DH will pick her up and bring her home, otherwise she will stay in Melbourne for the duration.
  15. there are lots of potatoes in the shops in Melbourne and not much else according to both my DS26 and DD20 ( in separate areas)
  16. exactly, we were told by the government to get 2 weeks extra food. we and just about every other Aussie did what we were told. they shops couldn't restock quickly enough, resulting in only a few things left on the shelves causing some to think that tehre wasn't going to be anymore stock coming, and a rush to buy the last few things. I personally have to drive 100 km to shops. When I go there I typically get 3-4 weeks worth of food. now there is no flour , rice, pasta etc to be had after driving 100 km. it is not like we or the rest of our rural areas can drive 100 km every day to check if there is food available. if there is flour or something we are definatly going to grab a few weeks worth. it is not hording, it is being sensible and making sure we have some food. plus the town 100 km away with the shops now has confirmed cases. We will not be going back there for a while.
  17. 2 confirmed cases in town over from me.
  18. you are more than welcome to the bower birds they are a very big pest. we get some every winter, but at the moment we seem to have a huge flock of them, I guess they have been driven out of the bush by the fires. Dh has also been training the border collie to chase them out of the orchard. They have stripped just about the whole orchard bare, not that the fruit was much with all the drought etc....
  19. DH has a dental appointment 100 km away. It will most likely be our last chance to go shopping. If there is any left. Also chook food etc Twins have speech pathology. I wonder how long she will continue to come Last day of TAFE for ds16 as they are closing down this afternoon The stupid bower birds have found our veggie garden. They have eaten most of the lettuces etc. We have 6 foot fences round the outside to keep out kangaroos, and now DH is trying to net in the whole top. It is a big job as it is the size if a tennis court
  20. ds16 got home from TAFE just now. He said TAFE is probably closing end of day tomorrow
  21. that is good. it would be very hard to isolate on campus
  22. Is your Dd on campus? Or does she have accommodation away from uni?
  23. It won't let me read it, a pay wall I guess
  24. They have run out of some chemical essential to the processing
  25. My Dd is at Swinburne Not all of her work can be done at home, it has a large workshop component The uni is still trying to work out the details but stated that nobody will be penalised while they work this out
