  1. No pork. No alcohol. My oldest house shares with a Muslim. he has brought quite a few muslims home for visits when he was at University. There wasn’t any special kitchen requirements just no pork and one told me that if he was eating at his parents house than the meat had to be from a special butcher , where the animal is killed facing Mecca and prayed over, but that isn’t a requirement when they are at other people’s houses
  2. Especially countries with universal health care.
  3. I agree it isn’t the way to protest, but I can understand the victims being angry enough to do this.
  4. I think the Catholic Churches in Canada that have been burnt down are on indigenous land and connected to all those mass graves that have been rediscovered lately. I can completely understand the people who were forced into those schools feeling angry enough to burn those churches.
  5. Yes, very contagious. Measures that worked last year to reduce numbers in Victoria are not working so well this time round. Over 1/3 of all new cases in both Victoria and NSW are children under 10
  6. I come from a very large family. I have 7 siblings. I am the oldest. Some of the siblings are half siblings. different groups of them do things together all the time. Never do all 8 of us do anything all together. nobody is upset . nobody feels excluded or left out. nobody expects everyone to be included. Mostly I am not included - I don't expect to be, and if I was invited I would have to decline more often than not.
  7. thought this was a very nice story https://www.9news.com.au/national/melbourne-icu-nurse-tracks-down-the-wiggles-to-save-covid19-patient/827466be-c98c-436e-858b-0c857a9a7833
  8. is it like an Agricultural show? we go to the local agricultural show, we enter home produce and baked goods. at least the kids do. winners of different categories then enter to the regional finals. Winners there go to the state level.
  9. New Zealand outbreak has spread to Wellington
  10. I think because mostly the kids are not out of their house. defiantly known here that kids spread COVID . and it is thought that younger kids will have more difficulty wearing a mask, constantly fiddling with them
  11. That is the same as everywhere in Australia. Masks have never been required for anyone younger than 12
  12. Oh my i am shocked. I didn’t realise how loose the restrictions are in NSW no wonder the numbers are so high. rural vic is at I think stage 2b level. We have compulsory masks, actually after looking through the lists of what the restrictions were just yesterday it is almost what Sydney had at their stage 4
  13. Melissa, were people in the whole Sydney not having to wear masks outside?
  14. I was just reading the latest lockdown measures for Sydney. Thinking about time, but didn’t realise that it is only happening in labour seats. A huge sigh. ☹️ numbers are up again for Vic. And the press conference is delayed...... makes me wonder if they are going to relock down regional areas ..... time will tell
  15. I involved the younger child as well, they so want to be like older children. A child that feels left out is a child that mucks up. I had special educational toys and fun workbooks that were only available at school time, things like : playdough with alphabet cutters Tap Tap https://cleverstuff.com.au/products/tap-tap-set-1?currency=AUD&variant=21091970823&gclid=CjwKCAjwgviIBhBkEiwA10D2j3veaSIpGOTTEaT5qLPWB3S5f4idNQ3wjjqrvutSItJKib2aZoXLvBoC02QQAvD_BwE wooden jigsaw puzzles picture books Kumon workbooks Rod and Staff Preschool books ( they were always a hit) a huge amount of different art supplies Monkey string some of those free prereading activities from AAR scroll down for the prereading alphabet activities https://resources.allaboutlearningpress.com/ there are heaps of Montessori type ideas on the internet
  16. 41 of the 57 cases today are people in isolation on day 13 test connected to a school outbreak. Only 3 cases that are not connected yet, all others either household members or very close contact to other cases. So good news new case numbers aren’t as bad as I thought.
  17. Boy green with envy you almost saw a demigodess Both Susan and her mother wrote me an email once when I wrote them a thank you for writing The Well Trained Mind when my oldest got into university. Unfortunately I didn’t print it out and my computer crashed shortly after and I lost it ☹️
  18. I just read that most of the positive are the 13 day test of people already in isolation from a school outbreak. So not as bad as I was thinking
  19. I am worried. Very worried. Numbers should be going down not up.
  20. 57 cases for Victoria. ugh I am wondering how many days until rural vic is back into stage 4. If we can just hold out until Monday so ds17 can get his apprenticeship papers signed and start.......
  21. No to have spread throughout the community so Australia will open up borders to international travel
  22. people think it was NSW plan right from the start. The whole rest of the country has been having snap lockdowns every week or so it seems because of NSW spread. What about all those prisoners that were secretly flown to WA yesterday. A whole plane load. They weren’t tested until they landed. Added up, Melbourne has had 200 days of hard lockdown since the pandemic began, and the scattered weeks in between they have had lower levels of lockdown.
