  1. :iagree: :iagree: This exactly. I feel bad but I know I made the right decision in saying no.... sometimes I still give in and bring it a chokkie,
  2. I'd think it was interesting and like PP have questions (from an academic POV) but if asked by friend I'd have to admit that no I wouldn't be willing to let my children participate in something not widespread.
  3. We have total wireless, 4 phones unlimited text/call 25GB shared between 4 phones for $100/month +tax. No problems with service and I pay online. I was on Boost but we kept getting tons of spam telemarketer type calls. No such problems once we switched. I don't like their website, it's not always 100% clear and we did have some issues when setting up service (trying to port #'s bringing our own phones etc...) but about an hour with customer service fixed most of it. I'm happy with them, no complaints anyway.
  4. Since we homeschooled it was easy to switch our schedule to somewhat match his. When he worked 6pm-6am we'd get up around noon, eat, do school and I'd make lunch around 4pm, it was our biggest meal and I'd pack his portion up along with some sandwiches. He'd get up around that time and sit with the kids while they ate or chill out with them and watch TV for a little bit before going to work. Then the kids got to be free and I'd do my own thing while they played in our yard or around the house. We'd eat again in the evening, 9ish,and have quiet time. Either watch TV together, play legos, maybe do some Starfall. They'd got to bed around 1-2am. Since he only worked 12 hours 3 days a week (6 hours on the 4th day) being on the same schedule meant we got to see him and hang out with him a lot more on his days off. While at the same time he got a few hours to himself after the kids and I went to bed. ETA: switching his schedule makes my DH very ill and he has a lot of trouble recovering. He is naturally a daytime person so going back to nights after say a week off and being a daywalker causes havoc.
  5. Just thought of another one... My birthday is Veteran's day, sister 1 is Groundhog day, sister 2 is Summer Solstice, and little brother is Valentines day. None of us were induced some went early, some went late. Three of my four children were due on 4th of July. I guess how DH and I met up as adults is a coincidence. We both have a sister (mine's a year younger) who attended the same gymnastics programs (I was 13ish he was 10ish) for several years. The program took place about 30 minutes from where I lived and about 90 minutes from his town. I remember thinking he was a nice kid and he would make some girl a great boyfriend someday. *We actually hung out, when he didn't have TKD practice, and I had to watch my littlest sister). Fast forward quite a few years (I was 25) and I had just broken up with my then boyfriend and had taken off to Alabama with my roommate for the week. When we got back to the area we lived (still not my town or DH's hometown) we stopped at a local bar whose bartender was a friend of mine (so I knew I could crash at their house), and in walks DH. He never went in that bar (he didn't drink) but his friend did sometimes and he was looking for him. We've been together ever since.
  6. We moved to Florida in 2006. Our first night there we went to dinner and our waitress was not only from my hometown she was also good friends with my uncle. Recently I saw this really cool truck (unique, one of a kind) in the walmart parking lot (here in TN) I knew my dad would think it was cool so I sent him a picture (he's in Indiana). He texted me back "yeah, it's so-and-so's truck, just saw him last week". ?!! Of course my family IS well known in our part of Indiana (hell raisers and bible thumpers often are) but still.
  7. If we bought it then it would be in our name unless the y "buy" it from us. If they bought it or were gifted it then it would be in their name since it's theirs.
  8. Regions does, DS's account is under ours but it's still in his name and he has his own debit card. His checks get direct deposited.
  9. I liked the ones I had never done....
  10. We had a 2003 for a short time years ago but it was nothing but trouble.... maybe they fixed the issues in later models? I suggest doing a lot of research. We just got out from under our 2014 Focus that was leaking value like a sieve due to class action lawsuit over transmission problems, really wish we'd dug deeper before we purchased.
  11. Sounds similar to what my sister had happen a few months ago. She didn't find it the nurse did at her annual exam. They had her go in for a scan (about 2 weeks later) it grew so that by then she could feel it and it freaked her out. Ended up being an infected duct. Neither of us thought that's what it would be since our experience with duct infections (mastitis) was during breastfeeding and that's a whole different experience. I'd go ahead and call Dr. on Monday and make an appointment for after the wedding stuff, that way at least that step is taken care of and you can focus on other stuff.
  12. I only use metal cased pens for writing. If it's wood or plastic I chew it up.
  13. I would stay home for various reasons, #1 being that the friends probably would blame me when they went home sick and I couldn't imagine leaving my DH, sick, at home with the littles. I mean he's good but not as good as me at taking care of them. It sucks but I'd stay home.... with the option that in a couple days I go down for the last couple days if everyone is better, including myself.
  14. We don't share a computer 90% of the time but DH does occasionally use mine when he forgets his at work. I would assume he had a good reason to go through the history and it's unlikely that he'd read it once he realized what it was. But if by some chance he did and it had personal info in it I might not want others to know he'd never even mention that he read it, so as to not make me uncomfortable. If it was his personal essay (which he just turned one in last week) on his computer, I would probably read it and use the info in it to start a "how can we do better" conversation if there were issues in the paper.
  15. When my nephew was 11 he decided he was going to walk to his grandma's house, about 15 miles away. Some kids just get crazy ideas at that age. Luckily his teacher from the previous year was driving by, he'd made it about 5 miles, and told him his parents were frantic and he needed to go home.
  16. I think the reason they don't show the model's face is because she couldn't stop laughing. Seriously who wears stuff like that IRL?
  17. Check out PB2 powder (or some other brand) it's only 1 or 2 points per serving and IMO it's almost as good straight as regular peanut butter, absolutely no taste difference when added to things.
  18. I did for the last 2 kids but I didn't do a good job of keeping them separated, they're wrapped individually in plastic in my box of shells (keepsake box I got from older DD's). If I inspected them I could probably figure out which ones belong to which kid.
  19. We currently have 4 of them. 1 in the kitchen that is under utilized (meaning only 1/2 full) and 3 basket type in the cubbies of the console table. Oh, wait another giant one in the coffee table that matches the console table.... it is supposed to hold blankets but right now has some tools and a broken laptop.
  20. The tea for example, I do have a box of Blueberry tea that has a minty, and therefore gross, flavor. I'm keeping it because is takes up very little space, someone might like it or I can use it for making sachets or something. The crackers would get put in the back of the pantry until I either figured out a use for them or they were stale enough to throw away. Sometimes I'll find a way to use something so the taste isn't an issue, rarely do we ever suffer through though. Life is too short and calories too sparse (I'm dieting) to suffer through eating something I don't like.
  21. It might have something to do with cheese to cracker to salami ratio.
  22. I tried it for almost a month and all the focus on counting made me focus on food constantly which made me hungrier than normal, plus all the free foods.... I ate a lot more than usual. Last couple weeks I've instead focused on portions. Including portions of fat in cooking, portions of the very occasional sweet. How much meat, it it whole grain etc... and I've lost 5 pounds. I'm trying to follow the DASH diet. I have high blood pressure and, when not on metformin, diabetes so DASH is probably best.
  23. I drink about four 8 ounce glasses of sweet tea per day but I would barely consider it caffeinated. As for coffee I love it but can not even drink the decaf kind, it makes my blood pressure shoot way up and takes 2 hours before I feel like I'm not in the middle of a fight or flight marathon.
  24. For the suggestion above about used textbooks, check out Belltower books, their shipping is only $1 per book and used prices are usually same as Amazon or less.
  25. We're not vegans but eat very little animal products so we often eat vegan-ish. We like the vegan convenience foods. Boca burgers, Boca crumbles, Gardein Porkless bites, Quorn brand chi'ken (make sure it says Vegan in green on the front). DD eats a lot of lentils in place of meat. Daiya cheese is "ok", she really likes Daiya pizzas and their mac&cheese. I personally can not stomach nutritional yeast or "cashew cheese" but the daiya was awful. There are soy and coconut yogurts, ice cream, sour cream, etc... *most of these items are frowned on by long term vegan's for various reasons but in our house they just make life easier, when I make stirfry I can use the Porkless Bites for everyone, Boca crumbles in chili, spaghetti, cottage pie, etc... means everyone can eat the same meal and I don't have to cook for an extra hour or two. If I didn't use the meat replacements then we'd likely eat more meat.
