  1. DirectTV Oh well, we have just did what we needed to make do but I am excited because next year we are only using providers that we do not have to worry about our connection. I don't have to take them to the library 2 days a week. Yeah! :hurray:
  2. 10 minutes here for my 4 1/2 yr old. I would say at 6 yrs. good practice for 15-20 min daily would be sufficient!
  3. I was wondering about this too? Maybe it depends on where in the country! :)
  4. Thanks for all of your points, I was hoping all would post and not feel not inclined because they didn't score as well as some. It was more of a curiosity to see where members fall on this board. I know that age is a factor too, the age people take it ranges from 8th-12th. Guess I should have some how figured out how to fix that aspect. :confused1: Humbling for my son, who is always been at the "top" in our area. -_- Something to strive for!
  5. Okay, I tried.., if anyone knows anything else to try let me know. Or if someone has luck posting more than one. Thanks and sorry!
  6. Okay, so I am trying. I checked multiple choice allowed is that it? Not sure exactly how I would edit it any other way but if you can explain to me I am all ears! :) Thanks!
  7. No need to post comments, trying to keep the board anonymous so we can really view how the kids did on average and I think put some stressed out mom's at ease. The poll is right now anonymous when posting your answer. Thanks everyone!
  8. Great idea! I got a poll going and it is anonymous, it will not show who answers the poll and no need to reply can just vote. Thanks!
  9. Thanks for all the responses, very enlightening! My son's highest scores were in English and lowest in Science. :confused1: Oh well, he will keep trying has a couple more years.
  10. Nukeswife - :grouphug: I often feel inferior on this board here too! My oldest was labeled gifted and I assumed he would do really well, but there must be a lot of super kids on this board! My middle son I know would never come close to some of these students. But you know they are all different and are gifted in many other areas...it's not all academic out there! Makes the world a better place! I am sure you are doing fine and he is too! I would be happy with that score without doing any prep, taking a class or studying up will make a huge difference!! Good luck to you!
  11. WOW...I can't believe they are in so much PAINLESS than the SAT and Psat this year! :-) I am new to the ACT so what score is considered good? What type of score do you need for really GOOD scholarships? Anyone know? My son was a sophomore this year and took it. I am not one to post scores either, but he scored I think really high and did well but I don't know much about the ACT? Thought we would try ACT this year since last year he did the SAT trying to compare on which he liked better and scored better on in anticipation for his junior year. Thanks for any insights!!
  12. We have had trouble with this area since we have satellite and not cable. Some providers work great for our situation: Landry Academy, Potters School, Scholars Online. However: Veritas Press, Wilson Hill do not work for us and when we have had to take classes there we have ended up at the library. Our library has been awesome because my kids take their laptops and we request a study room and so they get a quiet room with no distractions, etc. we make sure the classes coincide with the library hours just in case. Check with the school you are planning to try I did a trial run with Memoria Press this year they were really helpful to see how it would go. It is iffy, but in a pinch might work at home but we are planning on attending library those days anyway. HTH, this was always SO frustrating! We had to drop from VP because they were not willing to work with our situation. If it is a one time thing fine, but not something that will be a potential problem throughout the year. Good luck!
  13. Derek Owens, I was going to mention too but there is also: Liberty Tutorials Veritas Press
  14. If you end up wanting to purchase I have the curriculum up for sale just PM me. :-) Good luck in your decision!! I know the dilemma and the decision making!
  15. I agree with the others who mentioned: Mrs. Piggle Wiggle and Pippi Longstocking. I love Pippi! My son and I are reading it right now, it is just SO funny! Another idea is: Amelia Bedelia or Fantastic Mr. Fox
  16. Thanks for your input! I know my little one would love it but was afraid of it not being enough and I feel incremental learning in math is probably how I should go.
  17. Stumbled on this and it looks awesome, but I am not one to go off of the norm. :-P Curious to see if anyone has any experience or knows anything about it? Tempting for the early years! http://www.christianbook.com/math-lessons-living-education-level-2/angela-odell/9780890519240/pd/519242
  18. Give them a few days, when I had emailed about some questions it took almost a week to get a response. I know that can be frustrating!
  19. I'm listening in. They seem right up my alley for my two younger kiddos. I think the more you make them do and learn on their own the more they comprehend. So instead of always doing papers, narrations, etc. it helps to break it up and do something else! Instead of just reading all of the books, giving them a choice will help break the monotony! I am seriously considering this path for next school year, for science anyway! I have looked ENDLESSY! and can't find anything that compares to CEP. I hate they are so expensive too! You are right about everything on TPT, it is more multiple choice and not a topic to explore. I am seeing a need here! I wish CEP had more too, I am going to be making some for my Kinder next year for Geography/Community helpers and probably for his math. If I find anything I'll post! :-)
  20. Found this....might use this as a starting point and make up my own. :) http://musesofamom.blogspot.com/2014/09/homeschooling-high-school-astronomy.html
  21. Okay, I am failing in science which is my FAVORITE subject. Having three kids who all want to do projects and experiments with different subjects is becoming overwhelming and therefore is not happening. I am thinking of combining my MS and HS next year for a breather and a break from their normal curriculum and enjoying ourselves! My oldest has covered all needed for HS credit (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) so this next year I am looking to do Astronomy where my kids dive into their own interests and we do the experiments once a week together. I am looking at doing Supercharge Science Astronomy 2 & 3 exp. and then having them dive into a topic of interest that we were working on "experiment" wise. I love the task cards at Creek Edge I just wish she had something I could use for just Astronomy so I don't have to make it on my own. (I don't feel confident enough). I also want to add a couple biographies into the mix. Anyone want to help me on this! Thanks!!
