  1. Couple of questions for anyone with math Relief experience. 1. would you recommend it? 2. Should I have my child do a pre-algebra course first? (she is finishing up math-u see zeta and is going into 7th grade age 12) Thank you very much.
  2. Thanks everyone for the reply. It sounds like these are great!
  3. Hello wondering if anyone on these boards have used the red wagon cds or classes with apologia science. How are the different from the Apologia educational ministries cd roms . Do you prefer one over the other? Thanks for the help. :001_smile:
  4. Thank you for your response , I appreciate it. It makes sense that it would depend on each week and of course each year. Thanks.
  5. I was wondering for those of you who use tapestry of grace, if your kids enjoy reading the literature selections? We have been using sonlight for the past six years, it seems that tapestry chooses more classics and sonlight has a mix of both classics and lighter fun lit. I would love to hear some thoughts. Thanks
  6. Just wanted to add to this post that I have similar frustrations with Tapestry of Grace, I have many kids that need my time . Subjects that cant be over looked like math and writing seem to have to take back seat because of the long discussion time that would need to take place with TOG. The amount of books required to "do" the program is quite a lot. Just wanted to let you know that someone else understands you.:iagree:
  7. OH Thank you Ok one more question my older daughter will be in 6th and my younger daughter will be in fourth/5th I say that because her reading is great, but everything else is at fourth grade level. I want to make my life simple and not spend a lot of money , I guess that might mean keeping them both in upper grammar history. But would that be too easy for my sixth grader? So you think that a fourth grader might be able to handle the literature in dialect ?? But not the history ? I understand that she is still young and far from making the kind of connections that dialect students are making, but the upper grammar books look to easy for her. Thanks for your time::001_smile:
  8. Thanks for your response, I have been looking over tapestry for about three years but haven't took the dive. I have been reading different threads on it for a long time . It may have been some one else. sorry Glad to hear you are still using it.
  9. Thank you both . That helps , I want to keep it simple yet think the literature would be fun to include. Karenciavo, I saw that in one of your posts that one of your sons got burnt out with TOG , I so fear that will happen to us. I know that it is pretty intense. Have you found a way to make it more doable? Or maybe another program that is similar yet not so intense? What are you all using now. Sorry for the many questions, sometimes planning for the next year stresses me out a bit.
  10. I know that Biblioplan curriculum is suppose to be a list of history books and literature books that go along with the well trained mind . They list both history and literature for k-12 in a for year cycle following the well trained mind.
  11. Next year I was thinking about using tapestry of grace with my 6th grader 4th grader and 1st grader. For the first grader I wanted to just use story of the world as a spine and not buy all the history books , just the literature, and then follow TOG's schedule for story of the world. Do you think this would work? Does TOGO schedule enough of story of the world to make it a good option alone for our history spine for first grade? Other question , would you ever do dialect stage with a older forth grader? Sorry so long
  12. Wondering if anyone has some insight .. Next year I am thinking about using TOG with a 6th grader and 4th grader and a first grader. I was thinking about just using story of the world as a spine for the 1st grader and not buying all the history texts just the literature . I would like to follow the schedule that TOG has for story of the world. Do you think this is a good idea? Thanks in advance :)
  13. My daughter turned 11 in december. We have been using writing strands and I would like to switch to CW , but not sure where to start. Should we go through all of Aesops, or just start at Aesops B or just go into Homer? Any help would be great. Thanks
  14. I have looked at some samples of classical writing , but am having a hard time getting a good feel for it. Does all the grammar part have answers to them in the teachers manuel ? I don't want to be hunting down answers. Also is it teacher intensive? Can some one compare it to IEWs student writing intensive. I like that CW seems more set up in the sense of what to do everyday. Thanks for the help
