  1. There are also free Korean courses on Coursera.org.
  2. I've accepted a teaching job at a local Christian school. I'll be teaching a combo 4th/5th grade, which...will be very different from what I've been doing.
  3. This is one of my go-to ways for preparing eggs. I'll usually put spinach instead of tomatoes though. Same.
  4. There is www.openlibrary.org as well. It is free to register and checkout ebooks.
  5. After who knows how many years, I've actually posted a topic to the Chat Board.
  6. Is it standard practice that the weight listed on meat packaging includes the weight of the packaging (tray), or is it just me thinking that the weight on the packaging means the weight of the meat alone? I was weighing ingredients on my new scale just now, and realized that my 2 pounds of chicken thighs was actually less than 1.5, unless I add the tray to it. I am not happy. Or, maybe I'm just naive.
  7. With my kids, they were really young, so it would be different - I just stopped giving it to them. For my granddaughter (I've been watching her daily while my daughter works), I switched her milk to water first. She had a hissy fit, daily, but honestly, I didn't have any milk to give her because we don't drink cow milk. I laid with her and turned on music so she'd calm down. After she got used to water, and when she'd wake for the cup, I'd stroke her face. It didn't always work, but basically it's just switching one soothing thing for another. I was weaning slowly. I really needed her to sleep through her nap (not waking early, or screaming for milkies/water), because I had classes to teach during that time, which is why I went through any effort. She'll start going to my daughter's school on the first of June, so they can deal with it then, lol!
  8. Yes. I broke my kids' habit very early because I noticed it always kept them more awake than asleep because they were always looking for it. My granddaughter goes to sleep with a sippy cup of water. Same thing. She's also 2.5. I'm not really in a position to change that habit though since she'll be starting at my daughter's school next week.
  9. Others have thoroughly answered the question, but some places, like here, do not have good urgent cares. They have misdiagnosed a completely broken arm after 2 xrays (my daughter went 3 weeks with that nontreated arm), and a variety of other issues. I will always go to the ER, in one particular hospital at that, because the care is 1000% better. I know we will actually get treated for the right diagnoses. That's how I've decided where to take my family.
  10. Yes, there are many urgent care clinics not attached to hospitals, and then there are emergency rooms attached to hospitals.
  11. Yay! I have yet to whack a weed still. Whether is crazy. Speaking of meese. My daughter was outside with the dog, which started barking toward the farm. She turned around in time to see one of the farm dogs chasing two coyotes out the barn. A little excitement in our quasi-country corner. Were you able to save any? Today was a workday for my daughter's boy scout troop (girl's troop). She was the only girl to show up in her troop today. They did more stuff at the rodeo to prepare for the event in mid-June. They get free tickets for all their hard work! We got home, I took a nap, and then finished the yearbooks for each of my four online preK classes. In lieu of them signing a page, I had the students draw a self portrait with their first name, and added those to the books. They came out really cute! Now, I guess I need to wash dishes, or something...
  12. It is ridiculous how much more expensive it is to provide a nutritious meal as a low-income family, and that translates into the health system. Sometimes, it can cost 35-50% more to buy fresh goods. One program I like in our state is the farm-to-table, that brings fresh foods to the schools. Another program which is awesome, is buying from the farmer's market with an EBT card is 2 for 1. The state is paying the farmer the other half of the price. I don't know if other states do that, but I've loved being able to go to the nearby farmer's market over the summer and get double the amount of fresh veggies and fruits. With dh drinking 1-2 veggie smoothies daily with almost 10 different fresh produce to make them, it's gotten really expensive. But, it's been great for his health.
  13. Neither do I; I would just fry in a frying pan. In other news, Gymnast did not move up to the next level orchestra. She cried and was really bummed and talked about quitting. But, then her cousins called (they've been calling almost daily since we left Cali) and I told them to tell her not to quit. They know all about doing auditions and getting some and losing some. If the oldest cousin had quit due to rejection, she wouldn't have made it to the point of being in the new Wonka movie. And if the other one had quit, she wouldn't be plastered on abercrombie kids as a model. So they told her not to quit. So Gymnast isn't quitting (I wasn't going to let her, but I wanted her head in it, and for her to make the decision).
  14. Oh, yeah, that part. They think she may have a T3-L3 spinal cord lesion which is usually caused by intervertebral disc disease, which can eventually worsen and need surgery. It cleared up on its own, so it will come and go. She is on strict crate rest for the next 4-6 weeks, only to be taken out by leash to go to the bathroom. She has pain and inflammation meds for the next week. When the doctor heard that Gymnast was considering being a vet, he took her on a tour in the back (we weren't allowed back with our animals) at the end of our visit. He was a very nice guy. I understands Spanish too. Although I never heard him speak it, I saw him taking notes when I was asking dh stuff by phone, and he clarified the things he heard me say to him. I told Gymnast about the notetaking, and he kind of was a bit surprised because I never actually looked at him when I was talking on the phone. I said I'm a teacher and I notice things. 😁😅
  15. We didn't make it to church yesterday because on the way out the door, we noticed one of the dogs dragging her back legs. So, to the emergency vet clinic we go, half an hour away, because our local one closed years ago. We were there for almost 6 hours; some real doozies came in after us that needed to be seen before us. They kept thanking us for our patience. I said it was like any other emergency room: dangling legs and blood are probably higher priority. I had brought snacks and a power bank. I should have taken a book though.
  16. Gymnast and I were also in California last week for 5 days, although we did not go to Disneyland. We were in LA, where my middle sister took my younger sis and I to do ALL THE THINGS. Yes, Gymnast went with me (although this was a sister get together) because, contrary to HER belief, she is not yet grown and cannot take care of herself when hubby is at work. She had a great time with her cousins, though.
  17. It's been damp or raining here, so I have yet to whack a weed.
  18. Ooh. Looks like it can be borrowed for free through openlibrary.org to check out, too.
  19. Did you need search terms? Look up "theistic evolution," or "evolutionary creationism." Biologos is a theistic evolution organization with many resources - https://biologos.org/ Here is a link to their curriculum called Integrate: https://biologos.org/integrate
  20. This is how it was at the places we stayed lately (within the past 3-4 years).
  21. I have the free account because Netflix keeps us busy for now. If at anytime I run out of stuff on Netflix, or the amount of things I want to watch on Viki increases, then I'd probably get a subscription (and binge-watch like crazy)!
