  1. Since I was quoted, I'm responding. I never suggested this. I responded to a very specific post, which has since been deleted, so I deleted their quote. It had to do with not seeing any post saying to let him go just because he wanted to. I said there was. That was it. Anyway, the OP has said she spoke with her son and they were working things out. For the record, my opinion is that sending a child to school just because friends are there is not a valid reason. There are other outlets for friends besides school. Although OP states the boy's attitude, he was still working, and he's so far ahead, they can afford to take a long mental health break and just do things he's really interested in. I would try that route first before just sticking him in school "because he wants to." It's basically sending the message that he can manipulate the situation through his behavior to get what he wants. It's not ok in either camp - mom's or child's. I'm glad they are talking about it, because it is definitely needed in this situation. And, you're right, there is no way that behavior would be accepted in school. He would have to show some kind of behavior change at home before allowing him to go to school. eta: I actually did place my dd in 3rd grade, for very different reasons, at the end of January (many years ago). I pulled her out after a month, lol! We all agreed it was best. I was working from home full time and felt she wasn't getting as much schoolwork done as she should. In that month, I found out she was doing less at school. Nothing against the school - I've always tutored there, I did my student teaching there, I knew the teachers, etc., it just wasn't for us. She's now at a state performing arts charter, so I absolutely have nothing against schools).
  2. Someone did actually imply to let him go because he wants. Post #38, or at least, that's how I read it. eta: I think you were editing the same time I was posting.
  3. I have a few. (need to make up for the lack of the past few days.)
  4. My dh said, "You (speaking of me) have a good morning song for us every morning now?!" The lazy bums. I told him all about Ellie, my new good morning bestie. I've been playing these videos every morning for the past few days.
  5. Oh, my. I remember when this was popular, too. In fact, I still have Aesop on my shelf and several free supplements (prior to when they had workbooks). I incorporated a lot of the ideas in my homeschool.
  6. I remember when this one was mentioned all the time! (not so much anymore)
  7. I saw the $158 set linked to, but it also shows a complete collection for $53 on the same page. Is it the same thing?
  8. We partly witnessed our neighbor's dog giving birth to her first litter years ago. Thankfully, we missed the part when she ate them. The second letter, I took the babies since the neighbor was at work. He came and got them, and she actually took care of them. Oh, we live in a triplex, so we knew what was going on.
  9. My family gets a kick out of the fact that I can laugh just like that guy. My oldest says, "Do the laugh! Do the laugh!"
  10. I totally get you. A pregnant one would be way cool. We have not witnessed or been anywhere near a cat birth.
  11. Well, after a few balloons and a lopsided mask, we got one done! Oldest dd was under the impression when I said "ninja balls," it was going to be one of those that when you throw it on the ground it explodes. We've watched way too many martial arts movies!
  12. Hmmm. Kittens, eh? Maybe ask dh when all is quiet and calm, then pretend it's like that all the time.
  13. I came on this morning to only 7 new messages. Y'all are not taking this thread seriously.
  14. Have you been stalking the Ignore thread? There's a couple of pages dedicated to comma usage there. I came on this thread just to see what Ellie would say. I use commas, whenever. I haven't been docked points for my graduate papers for usage, but it may be because they don't know any better than I do. For example, in the first sentence of this paragraph I probably should have used ellipses instead of a comma.
  15. Walk, pilates, JM (even though I complain about squats, lol!), hike, maybe get back into Tae Bo. I've heard of P90 and Insanty but don't know anything about them. I've never hear of the others (well except a 5k and Mt. St. Helens).
  16. Ok, I slipped in, now I'm slipping out. I supposed to be meeting a family new to our homeschool group at a park in about 30 minutes. She has 3 kids and wants to start next year. She might need someone to watch the kids for about 3 hours a day (she works for the schools), and I'm also helping her get her bearings about homeschooling 3. Even though I've never homeschooled 3. But I'm a great encouragement!
  17. I actually have Tae Bo video tapes...around here somewhere. I enjoyed it, as I used to do Tae Kwon Do back in the day. (way back)
  18. I don't see where there would be much confusion. When my oldest was about that age, we attended a Catholic church (in Spanish) early Sundays with my MIL, then our regular church (in English) afterwards. I had never attended Catholic church prior, and still there was no confusion for us. Most of the prayers and call-and-response were scriptures. We didn't take the communion, as in our area you cannot if you are not a member, so that issue never came up.
  19. I would like to do this. But, I'm not fond of running. I think I'm going to restart Jillian Michaels, even though I'm not a fan of squats either.
  20. I just realized I passed 1000 posts. I'm in the >1000 Club now!
  21. I came back on tonight to 64 new messages. Now, that's what I'm talkin' about! How'd y'all do that?
