  1. I got some meals from Hello Fresh using a teacher discount. We had one today. It was enjoyed by all.
  2. I mostly learned music by ear, which also be a handicap to a certain point. Gymnast, thankfully can do both. I wanted her to be able to have an ear for music/play by ear (thus, Suzuki), and also read (which Suzuki also does), so she has the better of both worlds.
  3. Today is our busy day. Since the school I work at is located at the church I attend, Wednesdays I'll be here pretty much all day. School ends at 3:30; I'll do a little work, then take Gymnast to orchestra practice which is 4 minutes away. After practice, we're back at the church for the prayer meeting/Bible study (and dinner!), followed by youth meeting. So, we're essentially here from 7:30 am to 8:15 pm, with a short orchestra break. And we left our lunch at home. 😞 So, I ordered delivery...from McD. 😟
  4. The ITT recipe archive now has 32 pages on the drive. 😄 This is a big deal! I'm still grading kids' papers. I want to give all the papers back tomorrow so they can show their parents that they are actually doing work. I'm hoping to streamline this process beginning this week.
  5. Speaking of which, our church is having a "field trip" to go watch the state(?) baseball team - the Isotopes - play in two weeks. I've never watched baseball live, so we're going to go. There's a bus and everything!
  6. I finally got Gymnast a BS shirt; now I need to figure out how to put the badges on. I found a diagram online and will iron them on. It it's right, I'll sew them. I'll find out tomorrow if I do it right.
  7. Slash, aka Slache is doing fine, as is Jean. Jean has been busy preparing for camp, and Slash was wondering why her curriculum hadn't arrived 15 minutes after she ordered. 🤣
  8. Now that the summer heat is mostly gone, I've started having hot flushes. They started Sunday. Great.
  9. Would an overconsumption help? My daughter has been teaching me to play Voxiom.
  10. I've printed over 300 pages this week, according to HP Instant Ink. Good thing I have that service. 😳 Now I'm using my rollover pages; I have 900 of them at my disposal.
  11. Trying to remove myself from the bed so we can go to church. I CAN DRIVE MY OWN CAR!
  12. No, she just doesn't like to do any kind of work. Not even with me. She did so little with me last year, it bordered educational neglect. That's why I've handed her off. She needs to work for someone else and realize it has to be done whether she feels like it or not. She just refuses to do work. Parts of it worked for Dancer (she loved science and literature), but math didn't work (the teacher stopped answering her many questions, and eventually Dancer quit doing any math at all for the rest of the year).
  13. This reminds me of that one Christmas animation of the girl who took Jesus out of the church manger because he looked cold and wanted to warm him up at her house. It's on Netflix, I think it's "Angela's Christmas" or something like that.
  14. This was my first thought. I could imagine a black person saying it, implying that more dark-skinned players are recruited than light-skinned players. I don't really know because I don't follow basketball. I would pry, because I'd honestly want to know if that were true. I don't know what it would be like for a white family to delve into that subject, and whether it would be considered racist. I have a lot of white friends with adopted or mixed race black children and these are discussions I can see us having, without us seeing it as racist.
  15. So, a friend of the family was riding his bike last week and was hit by a hit-and-run driver. Dh said he actually went past that accident that morning but didn't know who it was (he was already taken to the hospital). It was their 23rd anniversary that day. He succumbed to his injuries two days later. I didn't really know him, but the family are long time homeschoolers, three graduated and two more at home. It's the youngest that is friends with Gymnast. In other news, K12 is pissing me off. And it has nothing to do with K12 and everything to do with Gymnast. Her attitude and lack of doing anything or desire to try is what made me turn her over to someone else to begin with.
  16. Please list some of those. I'd love to avoid them, lol!
  17. I must have lucked out. I haven't seen a single one like that, and I've seen a lot!
  18. You don't have to move to TN. Homelife Academy is a TN homeschool and anyone from any state can register. They've been around a long time; I was looking at it when my now-23 year old was little. https://homelifeacademy.com/
  19. I did a sample barre workout. I almost threw up. 😂 I didn't, though, and finished it. It actually wasn't too hard. Gymnast had her first full day of K12 yesterday. She didn't finish her independent stuff. I told her she'll get the hang of it.
  20. Happy Tuesday! I HAVE MY CAR! Another day in the classroom. It was supposed to be CPR training today, but the trainer is also a volunteer firefighter, and she suffered heat stroke and a heart attack when fighting a fire recently. The whiteboards didn't come in yesterday, so it was hard to determine where bulletin boards and shelves would go on one wall, which affected how I considered my design of every else. I did get one bulletin board up by guestimating. I printed out a bunch of things last night and am taking my laminator to do that stuff today. I have half a mind to take my printer... Since I have my car, I'm taking Gymnast out to lunch to celebrate her coming of age event. 😁 I haven't exercised in 2 months, breaking my one year streak of mostly-daily movement. Imma see if I can find something short and sweet.
  21. My oldest was in a pre-professional dance program in multiple shows, and still managed with pads. There are different shapes now, like for athletes, so they are not all bulky. If she isn't ready for tampons, there are still options, even for dancers.
  22. Teachers start tomorrow - class work day. I'm not sure what I'm doing or what I should take. I took a look at the classroom after church and some some shelves had been moved in, a cabinet for storage, but no whiteboards have been mounted on the wall. I have no idea how big they are going to be, so not sure what all is going on that side. I have a sketch of how I may want things, but won't know for sure until the tables are in there. I don't know how big they are. I went through the teacher things in my garage and decided on a few things to take with me to start. I'm not sure if I should take the teacher manuals that I have. I'm riding with the principal tomorrow, so can't just run home to get things. Gymnast has a full morning of live classes tomorrow, and I think one will start while we are in the car. I've already set up her computer to recognize my hotspot. My computer is acting up. It's like my battery doesn't want to hold a charge, but I'm not quite sure yet. Hopefully, my car will be ready tomorrow.
