  1. I suddenly feel inferior with my 3 boys...lol. All I can say is that if your 9 yo is giving you fits, take a breath before they turn 14.
  2. My older sons wear the same Old Spice type as their father. My 12 year old didn't need it last year and suddenly, one day, he REALLY did. Now if I can just get him to remember it each day...:tongue_smilie:
  3. http://www.dogfoodproject.com/ Lot of info about choosing healthy dog food here. Good luck with the pups!!
  4. For anyone waiting for their login info...our's is actually the same as it was for our trial. I sat for days waiting for it, and it turned out I could have had access the whole time. :001_smile:
  5. I do the same thing. When someone complains about a pencil, I hand them a new one. Funny how they don't seem to need sharpening as much now. :001_smile:
  6. Rick Riordan's new series that starts with "The Lost Hero" ties into the Percy Jackson books. This series examines Roman gods rather than Greek ones, but ties them together. I belive there are 2 or 3 books so far. My sons loved them.
  7. Castor oil made me violently ill...I still shiver when I think of it 14 years later...yuk.
  8. That's a good idea...LOF is by far my son's favorite. He begs to read it. I with I could find a book that would make him want to write as badly. BTW, Horizons is our spine since our son does well with the spiral approach and the others are supplements.
  9. If you use more than 1 math curriculum, (We use Horizons, Math Mammoth, Life of Fred and Beast Academy for my youngest) how do you make time for all of them? I see value in all of them and want to incorporate them all, but we can't spend half the day on math. Am I overdoing math? I don't have an issue with other subjects, but it seems like I am a math junkie. :tongue_smilie:
  10. I recently took part in a two-week trial that ends today. My son is really enjoying the course so we went ahead and participated in the group buy. Here's my question: is there a specifice way to go about purchasing the course so we don't lose his progress? I don't know where to go or if there is certain steps that need to be taken. Thanks!!:)
  11. We supplement with Beast Academny and Life of Fred for my youngest, and he really enjoys both of them. Good luck!!
  12. My house is a Lego museum. We must have thousands and thousands. My oldest son has played with them from an early age and has moved on to some very complicated 16 plus sets. Really cool stuff.... One problem is the cost...one set can put you close to or over $100.
  13. I was overweight by about 20 pounds no matter what I did. Until I added extended walking I couldn't take it off.
  14. So sorry...I know in my older son's troop there are strict rules about never being alone with a child. They've had to cancel activities when they didn't have 2-deep leadership at least. (My husband is an assistant Scoutmaster and he's not allowed alone with my own sons in scout related activities.) Anyway, DO make sure that there are stict rules in place to prevent anything like this happening. Also, do you want to know how mean my husband is? He's expecting the boys to complete their Eagle before he lets them drive...lol. I try not to get in the middle of it, but it is a great goal. One local boy just completed his, and his Eagle project was very worthwhile to the community.
  15. How adorable!! I love cats, but I'm terribly alllergic to them. :glare:
  16. All three of mine use Spelling Power. I like the fact that I can use the same book for all of my kids, and it seems to be doing a great job. :001_smile:
  17. My youngest son uses Horizons 3 for math and we're supplementing with Life of Fred which he really enjoys. I've seen a lot about Beast Academy. Would it be worth it to add another math supplement? I think he would enjoy it from what I've seen, but I don't want to go overboard. Which ages and books go together? Thanks for any info...it's just that I've spent so much money at this point I want to make sure it's a good investment.
  18. 15 years this September. I couldn't be more proud. He's a great husband and father. I feel so blessed to be with him and share my life with him.
  19. I'm going to be using Apologia Zoology 3 with my son (8). I was looking at the notebooks and wondering if I should go with the regular one or the junior one? He's advanced in math and science but struggles a bit with writing. I'm leaning towards the regular one, and I could skip something if there's too much writing? We do have WWE, handwriting and spelling so I don't want to overwhelm him. Thanks!
  20. My three boys have always used Spelling Power and have done very well. You may need to try a few things to see what really clicks. I use the same book for all of them so it's very handy. Good Luck!
  21. If you haven't looked into it, my boys have done well with BJU. My oldest will start Bilogy soon, and they have done well with Earth and Space Science and Physical Science. It is a rigorous curriculum. Good luck!!
  22. We just purchased the first few books after my older sons had great success with the intermediate ones. (We supplemented Saxon with Fred) My youngest runs to the mailbox everyday to check for them, lol. I just told him about them and he's so excited. We'll be supplementing Horizon's 3 with Fred.
  23. My boys have both marshmallow guns and potato guns...the potato one is a lot less messy. ;)
