  1. Normally when we order things from Amazon, we get them in 2 to 4 business days. We have Prime. The last several things we have ordered have taken anywhere from 2 to 5 weeks to arrive... Anyone else notice recent changes in how fast your Amazon orders are getting to you?
  2. We are part of a home Bible study type group that meets weekly. I am looking for ideas for materials to use with a group of 4-6 year olds on a weekly basis. There could be anywhere from 3-10ish probably, at all different levels of maturity (physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual). I would like something that wouldn't take much preparation from the teenage girl watching them, but would be doctrinally sound, Gospel centered, and interesting to that age group. Some kind of cheap/free Sunday School curriculum might be good, or something. I have seen some devotional type books that might work, except I don't know that they would get enough time out of a ten minute devotion. Any ideas?
  3. Welcome! Good to have another military homeschooling father here! In our family, I am the curriculum junkie, so it is a bit different for us than for a lot of the people here. I "substitute teach" on days when I am home early or am off work, I do 90% of the curriculum choosing (with her input, of course), and just do what I can do to help her as she needs.
  4. Gah, of course. We ordered a book from there July 03, and we still don't have it yet. I had a coupon code for free shipping, but had I waited till now I could have used that a different time. Oh well.
  5. Alright, dw said she put Desitin on it last night, so we will see if there is any improvement when she wakes up this morning. She also said she has dealt with yeast diaper rash before, and this seems different.
  6. Well, if it is economic reasons, there are choices that are better than others. If it is environmental, there are choices better than others. If it is because you like the way they look, there are choices better than others. lol. So, yes, I suppose there are diapers that would be a better choice, depending what your reasoning is. :D As far as chemicals, one thing to keep in mind is for whatever you get, keep in mind that certain types of diapers may do better for certain types of laundry detergent. So that is one thing to consider. :001_smile: Here is a thread from a while back that has lots of great info for cloth diaper newbs. http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/showthread.php?t=257119
  7. I read Lawhead's Song of Albion trilogy sometime around that age, perhaps a year or two older. I really liked them. Same level as appropriateness as Lord of the Rings, if I recall correctly.
  8. What are your reasons for wanting to cloth diaper?
  9. Thanks everyone, we will look into these possibilities.
  10. No, I don't own a hat. If I had to do it again, I would not have bought the shirt, due to the sleeve length. The event is family pictures. They are outdoor, casual (in Hawaii, so eternal summertime here lol). The girls are wearing matching dresses, dw is wearing a shirt with purple and white/gray stripes (I think). I don't mind not wearing a tie at all for this. The only black casual shoes I have are: http://www.converse.com/#/products/Sneakers/ChuckTaylor/M9160 My other option for casual shoes are: http://www.skechers.com/style/61751/urbantrack-browser/brs#Color=BRN
  11. Or style advice, I'm not sure of the difference. :tongue_smilie: What tie would you recommend for this shirt? It's kind of hard to tell, but it is white, purple, and black. I am thinking of pairing it with dark jeans, brown leather shoes and belt, and no jacket. Also, after I bought it, I realized the sleeves were a bit shorter than I am used to for a dress shirt. It may look better with the sleeves pushed up. Thoughts?
  12. We should judge, to a degree. We should also discriminate, to a degree. I don't like that these terms have gotten such a negative connotation.
  13. We used disposable diapers with our first two dds, and dw decided to use cloth for the new baby. Well, I guess my 4 year old has gotten used to us using the cloth diapers. We sometimes do use a disposable when we leave dd1 with a sitter, or when she has to go to the doctor for a checkup or something. DD4 noticed one one day, and coined a new term that we now use for disposables: I think it is hilarious, and has the double meaning of being thrown in the trash when we are done using it, and the idea that it is made of "trash" like material as opposed to cloth, etc. I don't know why I find it so funny, but I thought I would share it with you all. Now dw uses the term "trash diaper" all the time when referring to disposables. Who knows, maybe dd4 is a trend-setter.
  14. Anyone? Dw is concerned it could be staph or something... I lean toward it just being that way from the diaper.
  15. xpost from the other thread: Two more perspectives here: http://www.patheos.com/blogs/friendlyatheist/2012/07/12/despite-what-fox-news-tells-you-michael-salman-is-not-going-to-jail-for-hosting-a-bible-study/ http://www.hcfaz.org/persecution.html For what they are worth.
  16. Those of you who had trouble reading the whole article, did it work from a different computer/browser?

  18. The latest (or maybe one month old now) Consumer Reports has an article on flooring. You might read it. IIRC, the best choice for wear was also one of the least expensive.
