  1. Finish this sentence: "I wish there was (an easier/cheaper/better/any) way to ____________. "
  2. I was reading this article http://www.wfaa.com/news/entertainment/pets/police-receive-animal-training-175691821.html and saw this quote: Some brief searching suggests there are about 800,000 - 1,000,000 sworn LEOs in the US. That averages out to 1 out of 4 cops having shot a dog annually. Or, it could be one officer that travels around the country and shoots all 250,000. But I doubt it. This makes me upset, and I am not a big animal lover. But, I am glad to see that some departments are doing training to help avoid this. And here is another article about it: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/radley-balko/police-in-two-texas-citie_b_2177712.html
  3. We most likely won't be homeschooling starting next school year, but very helpful points. Thanks!

  5. We do nickname. I like Charlie Jo, but DW doesn't. Updated the poll options folks, please feel free to change your vote!
  6. We do like Janae too... Question for those that picked "Jane"...is it too similar to Jade?
  7. I agree with most of the others. If you listen to his music chronologically, you can see a lot of growth and change, but even still he definitely has some issues with women. Partly due to his issues with his mom, partly due to his volatile relationship with his (ex again?) wife Kim. I think you have to look at if a song can encourage something in a person that isn't in them anyway. Also, does he make violence against women appear glamorous in the song? Watch/listen to this and see if it makes you still feel the same... (language warning) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zmBgEwFcWM
  8. Jean is already in use by another family member, so we won't use that. We like JoAnne better than Joanne, :)
  9. Cranium Cranium WOW! (it's a bit different) Scattergories Taboo Battle of the Sexes
  10. Thanks for the idea in the first place. :)
  11. I like to think of the possibilities... If they try a similar experiment elsewhere with similar results, it may be worth trying to get these tablets into the hands of children in underdeveloped countries all around the world.
  12. So, apparently I have to now go and force my phone to accept cookies if I want to log in... Not happy about that. Also, the lack of the hover feature that others have mentioned. Other than that, I like the update.
  13. http://dvice.com/archives/2012/10/ethiopian-kids.php?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=pulsenews I found this fascinating. What are your thoughts?
  14. 1. I am amazed at this topic still being up. I am also very happy with the civility displayed here. 2. As a libertarian who is not a Libertarian, I would say that the defining characteristic of a libertarian is someone who holds to the Non-Aggression Principle. Of course, there are libertarian people who don't agree with the NAP, but they are the exception. 3. I don't think Dr. Paul was trying to paint the entire community of homeschooling families with an ideological paintbrush. Imagine instead he had said that baby boomers will contribute greatly to the computer revolution. Obviously he isn't saying that ALL, or even most, baby boomers will be technology innovators. But the people who are, such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Larry Ellison, etc... tend to be from the same era. That's what he is saying regarding the liberty movement and homeschooling.
  15. Looking like a landslide for Jane so far!
  16. The poll is updated, you can apparently change your vote if you like.
  17. Sorry, Jennifer is a no go for us, it's already in use in the family... :( Jillian might be a possibility though.
  18. Original thread found here: http://forums.welltr...girl-name-help/ We have pretty much decided on Charlotte for dd#4, and I just wanted to get your votes for the middle name. Feel free to support or explain your decision! *Updated poll options
  19. Great idea, if I can figure out how to do it on my phone I will.
  20. I think we are fairly set on Charlotte now. So, which do you like best? Charlotte JoAnne Charlotte Jane Charlotte Jubilee Charlotte Justice
  21. And I just found out my wife doesn't like the idea of someone calling our daughter by a non-feminine nickname. :glare:
  22. So, we are on the base housing list, and I think the elementary school for the area we are likely to get would be Bethel Manor.
  23. Not a problem. I have played around with saying "Charlie Jo" as a nickname for Charlotte JoAnne. Having a good nickname is nice. We have a Nat (or Nat-Nat), a Gabbie, and a... Savannah. I wish sometimes we had a good nickname for Savannah. We did talk about calling her "Jules" (from Juliet), but we haven't really done that often. Also, loving the suggestions and opinions everyone! We don't mind a fairly popular name, but we don't want one of the super popular choices. All our other three were between 17 and 50 ish on the popularity charts the years they were born (at least on one website). And my wife and two oldest daughters are all Texans, and the third daughter shares a name with a city in Georgia, so Southern-sounding is fine with us. :) I have added more to the OP (mostly middle names).
