  1. I will use it as part of MODG. I have used FLL 1 and 2. I made grammar memory work cards for his memory box. I plan on reviewing those and reading Grammar Land. I'm ok delaying formal grammar, because our program goes through it so thoroughly from 6-9th.
  2. I loved RS B. I quit with RS C. I still plan on using A/B with my daughter, but after that we will do abeka through 3 and then move to saxon 5/4. I do plan on using the games though.
  3. There are many battlefields in the Fredericksburg, VA area. One of our favorite family weekend trip places is Cherry Crest Farms in Lancaster, PA.
  4. If I bought my children kindles for homeschooling, and I purchased books and audiobooks, can each kindle have access to the same material? Can they also access my music cloud?
  5. I'm happy with the Learnables. I think consistency is more important than which program you choose.
  6. I had intended to study history chronologically, but my oldest went back to school for 2nd. Then we switched curr. and he was doing an American History core. Therefore we've skipped over the middle ages, but we will come back to that in the upcoming year. It has all worked out very well. The boys have a solid foundation in ancient history as well as a great knowledge of American history. It may be ideal to study history cycles in order, but it isn't always necessary.
  7. MODG uses Abeka 1-3 in 1st through 3rd. Then it switches to Saxon 5/4 in 4th and uses Saxon through 8th or 9th grade. Some that find Abeka moves too fast use Saxon in the 1st - 3rd grades. HTH
  8. You seem similar to me, so I'm sharing this is a post I wrote on another thread recently. If you have any ?s about MODG you can PM me. Well I admit that having a best friend that uses MODG and is one year ahead of me helped a lot in my choice. I was able to look over all of her items and listen to her experience. Here is the 3rd grade booklist. Here is the 3rd grade Emmanuel Books page. (note they add in some extras and other options.) Here is the 4th grade booklist. Here is the 4th grade Emmanuel Books page. There are syllabus samples on the MODG page. I preferred the planner to the syllabus for 3rd grade. This was actually the main reason finally went with MODG and even switched to the math in the syllabus. I needed something already planned that we could just check off. I only adjusted Language Arts, though next year I'm going to switch to their language arts, so I don't even need to adjust that. I also joined an MODG yahoo group and really feel confident on easing into grammar after hearing advice from these moms that have done MODG for so many years. We had already done ancient history, so the American history was a great addition to our homeschool. I do add in a few things, but for the most part I'm happy to follow the curriculum. The four reasons I'm very happy about enrolling are 1) All of the syllabi are online and I can print out where we are each week, 2) instead of starting Latina Christiana for 4th, my son will do their inhouse online Latin class, 3) I will have official records which I like, and 4) she chooses the most efficient and appropriate texts for each age/year. Laura Berquist offers online classes on her program from time to time. I just sat in on the 3rd to 5th grade class, and it was very helpful.
  9. I just use the Baltimore Catechism. I've never used Seton. Sorry I can't help.
  10. It seems to me that when you take the practices you like they'll likely correlate to something else (charlotte mason, classical, etc...) and then it isn't really Waldorf anyway, It is just some things you liked that interested you that can also be found elsewhere. I personally can not participate in anything if I disagree with how it is founded.

  12. I just wanted to throw out the suggestion of looking into MODG. I never used it until this year for my 3rd grader. I felt that the 3rd grade year had a lot of similarities to Sonlight living history. We've loved 3rd grade so much, I decided to just jump on the bandwagon and enroll with MODG next fall.
  13. I agree with whoever said do which ever one will get done. The best curriculum is the one you actually use. I started Learnables French and love it. DS1 will begin Latin next year online with MODG's online program. I think it would be best to pick one and just do it. Then in two years add the next one.
  14. Oh I need to talk to you. I did RS B and part of C with DS1. Then he went back to school for a year and I tried to pick up C again. I couldn't manage the time, so I just went w/ Abeka 3 as part of MODG. Next year it moves to Saxon 5/4. In theory I want to do RS, but I just don't know that I can make it work. Especially since he's now moving to 4th grade, and I don't know where he'd fit. I do think I'll use A and B next year for my younger two and utilize the games. That may be our happy medium.
  15. Song School Latin Prima Latina {For the record I felt that 100 EZ Lessons taught me more about how to teach reading than two education degrees. :laugh: Love it.}
  16. Since I'm Catholic, I vote for Connecting With History. I know the OP might not find that helpful, but I wanted to include it in case a Catholic reading the thread would. I actually plan on using it during summers when we're in between our 'school syllabi'.
  17. Right Start has a wooden fraction puzzle. I plan on using that with their fraction games, even though I'm no longer using RS.
  18. sex three times in 24 hours works if your body is ready.
  19. I liked it, but I switched to a math that is part of our syllabus. I may still do IP books in the future during summers. I do hate how they use the phrase number sentence. I used to make DS1 cross that out and write in equation.
