  1. One more thing...(I can't tell you how excited I am that you are creating this) I would like the program to automatically calculate grade point averages after you've added scores and/or grades. Are incorporating something like this in Olly?
  2. We use OS X 10.6.8 Thank you again for working on this!!!!:001_smile:
  3. Thanks for your input everyone. I'm going to look into them. I did decide to get the Chem2000 set as recommended in the most recent WTM and my dd is working through that along with the book on the periodical table SWB recommends. We are in week 2 so I don't have that much feedback on how it is going yet except that my dd is VERY excited about the chemistry set and doing the experiments.
  4. How many of you use the WTM recommendation for Logic stage science? I'm trying to decide if we should do this or buy a curriculum. I've looked at Real Science 4 Kids, RSO and have read about Elemental Science. I'm looking for a Chemistry program in particular to use with my 6th grade and maybe even my 3rd grader too. Any suggestions? I can't decide what to do!
  5. Going out for ice cream at the end of the day is a great idea! Thanks!
  6. Have fun!! We do the surveys, make school shirts, take pictures, get new supplies, go out for lunch, etc. You can read about our first day this year here. Happy Homeschooling! Hope you have a great first day and a blessed year! __________________ I checked out your blog, it is so cute! You have a lot of ideas that I think I'll use. I especially love the survey idea. Thanks too for the other suggestions everyone posted. I like the ideas of a nature walk, going on a picnic, baking their favorite cookies. I'm getting excited myself!
  7. I agree with some of the previous posts that due to the fact that her complaining about the amount of food she gets is a daily occurrence, it sounds like there is a bigger issue of her wanting control of you or the situation. I like the idea of removing the food the first time she complains about the amount, or remove her for a time-out. I also agree with saving what she didn't eat for the next time she eats. I wonder if there is another area in her life where she could be given more control like choosing what to wear each day, being a part of planning each dinner's menu (she gets to pick one of three choices you present her) etc. Maybe having more control somewhere else will appease that need in her.
  8. Nutella is one of the most tantalizing, hard to resist, flavorful and supremely yummy foods ever!
  9. Does anyone have any good ideas for fun things/traditions/rituals to do the first day getting back to homeschooling. I want to start the year out right and would love to read about some of the things other people do when they start up again. Thanks!

  11. Has anyone tried Real Science 4 Kids Chemistry Level 1 from Gravitas? I'm trying to decide between using that or following SWB recommendation in her 2nd Edition book of buying the Michrochem chemistry set and using that along with a science encyclopedia for Logic stage kids. I'll look into RSO too.
  12. Thank you so much for your feedback. I will look into the programs you've all suggested!
  13. I used Linney's "Getting Started With Latin" with my 2nd and 5th grader last year to give them an introduction to Latin before starting a complete Latin curriculum/program. It was wonderful and I highly recommend it to anyone considering teaching their kids Latin. I did not know Latin and it was fun for me to learn it along with them. I'm now looking for our next-step. Has anyone else used GSWL? If so, what program did you use afterwards? I don't want to have a lot of repetition of things we've already learned, or get into something that is too basic. Thank you!
