  1. My overdue, week 3 done update Done daily: 10-15,000 steps/ day; 10-20 minutes of yoga w/ Joelle; Jorge Cruise workouts (aka Laura's pdf 😄) Accomplishment: I lost 0.2 pounds according to my new Renpho scale. 🤣 I have to say, it does provided a lot of information! Unfortunately, I haven't been able to sync the Renpho app with my Fitbit app. My next weigh in will be this weekend. I've been trying to add weekly short hikes with my youngest on days that I'm off (and weather permits.) We have some local urban trails that are easy-moderate in activity level. It gets us out into some (urbanized) nature settings for about an hour or two, which is nice. Needs work: Had a very stressful work week last week and consumed a few extra alcoholic drinks over my current plan. This week I'm back on track and continuing to check in with my tracking app. I didn't have much time to meal prep so I'm trying to make good choices with what's available this week. Now that my work routine is mostly back to normal, I should do better next week. I think I'm going to continue with the daily walking/ yoga/ strength training and weekly hikes with the youngest for now. I'm thinking that about mid-February I might change things up if the weather permits. When it was colder in the mornings, I did strength training and yoga before work and focused on walks during my work breaks. In February, I'd like to alternate mornings between walks and c2 5k training. I'm also thinking of holding off on Yoga with Adriene until about March and just sticking with Joelle.
  2. Chaotic week over here, so quick update: 2 weeks of daily walking and yoga Received my Renpho scale and now have a new start baseline (that was 😰😣😒). More meal prepping so I can stay on track with eating. I've slowly started shifting my breakfast meal to before I get ready for work instead of waiting until I get in. I think it's making an overall difference in how I feel and not feeling as snacky. My period is this week and my work schedule is off kilter due to an event and holiday, so I'm trying to focus on one day at a time. My sleep is going to be a bit messed up and I'm just trying to make sure I can keep some kind of routine, even if everything has to be done at the end of the day (which I'm not a fan of because that's when I'm most tired.) You northern clime ladies make me feel like a wuss for not walking in this mornings 39 degree weather. 😝 I opted for some yoga and weights instead. I left the walking to later in the day when it warmed up. I'm hoping to give a fuller update later in the week.
  3. Quoted my post instead of just correcting the typo. 🤦‍♀️😝
  4. Re: daily or weighing at other times I'm opting for weekly. I get a bit obsessive when I weigh daily. Logistically, I know weight fluctuates (through the day and from day to day) but if one morning I weigh say 170 and then next day I go up to 173 or 175, I feel deflated. I'm also aware that my weigh goes up just before my period and won't drop back down until a week after. Once I get into a regular routine/ rhythm, I'll probably opt for monthly again. For now, what's more important to me are any body changes. I find measurements are more useful and positive thoughts inducing. It's really satisfying to me to know "wow! I've lost a 1/2" or 1" vs "I am now X lbs." That said, thanks for the scale discussion! I didn't know about that particular brand. I have an old analog scale and would love to upgrade to that one. 🙂
  5. Thank you! I will certainly check both of these. I forgot to add to my post yesterday that since I have a FitBit, I'm trying to focus more on my active minutes vs number of daily steps or miles walked. I aim for 10,000 steps, but that's not much of a problem for me to hit on a regular weekday. What I need to work on is getting my heartrate up and tracking active minutes is the best way to see how I'm doing. At the moment, I'm content with getting 30 or more active minutes in a day. When I was actively hitting 45-60 active minutes, I noticed it was easier to keep weight off. Either next month or March I'd like to restart (again🙄) c2 5k. But for now, walking, yoga, and some weights are enough.
  6. I think a weekly check-in will work for me. I pretty much started my getting back to it routine on January 3rd. Thanks to the poster who mentioned Yoga with Joelle. 💖 I like mixing up Adrienne's and Joelle's videos because I haven't had a consistent yoga routine since mid-November. Some days, Adrienne is too much and Joelle's longer stretches are perfect. (As an aside, this is the 2nd year that I find YWA's January program is not a good way for a beginner/ those getting back into a daily routine to jump in. Some parts assume a basic knowledge of some positions. Other times the flow is way too fast for modifications. I prefer starting with her older videos and build up to the present day ones.) On work days, I've been getting about 25-30 minutes of a walk in before I get ready. I've gotten back to 20-30 min of yoga at lunchtime and still use my 15 minute breaks and part of lunch to walk. Consistency is my focus and I was able to get walks done on Saturday and Sunday along with daily 20-30 minutes of yoga. I meal prepped like mad this weekend after partially meal prepping and cleaning out the last of the junk stuff last week. As long as I keep alcoholic drinks to a minimum and cut all the fast food I was buying during the holidays, I think I'll be ok. I've been upping my veggies, adding more whole grains, and shooting for at least 1 vegetarian meal/ day. For those who use weights, is there a program or videos you prefer for starting out? I have some 5lb weights at home and I know there's videos on Fitness blender. It just feels overwhelming to find something. I'd love for videos in the vein of Joelle but I'm not sure what's out there. Also, I need ones that are 30 minutes or less to fit into my schedule. I don't mind doing them 2-3 times per week and I love variety, so it different ones would be perfect.
  7. I love this. But I am so stuck on sunset at 3:22pm... 😱😂
  8. Correction: eggs at my local Aldi tonight= $5.60/ doz. No cage-free or organic ones available.
  9. Since about a week or two before Christmas, I noticed that a local Trader Joe's was out. I overheard a worker tell another customer that they received a set amount of egg cartons each day "due to the shortage." They stock each morning and once they're out, that's it for the day. I have a feeling the same is happening with Sam's Club as I notice they are out by the time I make it in the evenings. They had a 2 item limit up before the holiday. Aldi has eggs but last I noticed it was like $4.60/ doz. They used to sell them anywhere from $0.99-$1.50/ doz.
  10. https://www.familyhandyman.com/article/score-license-plate-sticker-with-a-razor/ We do this, too. I had to replace mine once and it was a hassle.
  11. Peeking in. I started the year ok but ended very flat (and with increased weight. 😖) January goals= walking every day and adding in morning walks before work. I already walk on my work breaks at the least. I'd also like to get back to yoga, so I'll probably start with doing it 2-3 times/ week and work back up to 5-6 days/ week. I'd like add in morning jogs in February, but I want to see how January goes. I need to carve out time on the weekends to get back to meal prepping for the work week. I have a couple of recipes already picked out for next week. I also want to focus on going slow and steady. Often times I find I try to get back to a routine too quickly rather than easing into it. Then burnout sets in and it becomes a mess. I want to try to avoid that this time.
  12. #teamselfcheckout I especially love Sam's Clubs scan and go app. I can scan as the items go into the cart, skip the register, and go. However, yes, if I had a large cart of items or am purchasing a bottle of wine or liquor then I will use a cashier.

  14. I'm so very sorry. You and yours are in my thoughts. 💓
  15. Along the ghosted by a job line, my kid was ghosted for interviews. Did all the hoops, got ready, showed up, no one there. Or the person who was supposed to be doing the interviews wasn't in/ sick/ etc. They tried to reschedule only to never hear back.
  16. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Varney I feel old now. 😂
  17. In that case, could you just call and submit the card number by phone? I wouldn't send any info via an unencrypted, web-based form.
  18. You won't have one. That's for schools with 6+ students. This pdf from California Homeschool Network walks you through how to fill out the PSA: https://www.californiahomeschool.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Instructions-for-Filing-the-Affidavit-1.pdf
  19. I would've been a Layla, too, if my dad had not found my given name. Layla was very popular in the mid-70s. 😂
  20. ^^^ This. Canned or not, no one here but me (and on a rare occasion 1 offspring) would have the tomato soup. Dh hates cheese, so this would be something I might throw together for just me and the offspring. It would more likely be a lunch rather than a dinner
  21. Since her mother lived to be 101, I felt like she had a few more years at least.

  23. Leverage is on Amazon's Freevee.
  24. Add me to the bra list. I had one a few years back and then the company was sold and they changed everything 🙄
  25. YES. Signal lights in cars- either they leave them on so you aren't sure if they want to merge into your lane or just forgot to turn it off. Conversely, people who don't seem to know that there is a magic stick on the steering column that when engaged allows other drivers to know that you are about to move right in front of them. 😑 Vehicle-adjacent: people who park their shopping carts in the middle of the aisle, blocking anyone from going past them.
