  1. I was looking at the homeschool coop website and noticed this curriculum. Has anyone used it? All I have seen reviewed here is the science, but it seems to have other courses as well. I have looked at some of their demos and it looks very appealing for my 12 ds. Anyone have feedback? The sale is only going on for two more days so I need to make a decision quickly. Thanks
  2. I am having mine use this website this year. It seems to be like Rosetta Stone and best of all, it is free. www.livemocha.com
  3. We got two loans to avoid paying PMI. Together they are $1200 for a 4 bed two and a half bath around 3000 sq ft.
  4. Our dd will be turning 16 soon and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a special gift to give to her. We want something that would be memorable. Thanks
  5. I have a 13 ds and 10 ds and they both have terrible handwritting. It seems to be getting worse. Neither one of them like to write in cursive. My older son's writting is so bad that a lot of time he can't even read it. Any ideas would be appreciated.
  6. I am glad you posted this problem. I have been having the same problem with my 15 yo daughter. It is not unusual for her to spend 10-12 hours a day on her school work and then still have things to do on the weekends. I am going to try having her log in her time spent on each subject also. I have been thinking about reducing the amount of work I expect each day because I want her to be able to have a little more downtime each day.
  7. I found one at WM a couple of weeks ago for around $80. Now to figure out how to use it....
  8. I was wondering what some of you have done to help keep you kids on track. I have a 10yo son that can't stay focused. He is very intelligent, but he does one thing and then has to stare off into space until I bring him back. Right now he has been sitting doing math for 2 hours. I hate having to sit there and constantly tell him to get busy, but that is the only way he can get it done. Any suggestions would be great. It is only the second week of school and I am already about to pull my hair out.
  9. We are planning on being there 7 days/ 6 nights. We don't care if we stay on the property or not as long as there is a shuttle or bus to get us around. Most of the hotels that I have looked at close by at least have a refigerator and a microwave that we could use. Thanks
  10. I know this has been asked here many times, but we are planning a trip to Disney World in Oct. I have never planned a big vacation and don't know where to start. We are looking to go the economy route if that is possible at Disney. Also, what are your favorite parks. My dc are all teens so I don't think Magic Kingdom will appeal to them. Any help would be wonderful.
  11. We live in Central Texas and my daughter's best friend has to do community servicethis summer for missing too many days this year. I thought that this was horrible until I read this thread. I guess her parents are getting off easy.
  12. I really don't think I will want to homeschool my grandkids either. I just want to be the fun grandma, not the school master.
  13. Has anyone had to deal with mold in your walls. I have been complaining to my husband for a while that it smells musty in our house. Yesterday I noticed black stuff around all of the electrical outlets on the back wall of our house( upstairs and downstairs). Of course I am freaking out thinking we are going to have to tear down the whole rear of our house. We have a friend who is a house inspector coming this afternoon or tomorrow to look at it. I am just trying to see if anyone else has had to deal with this and how big of a deal it turned out to be. Thanks
  14. Everything went great for him. He got out of the hospital two days after the procedure and was feeling great about a week afterwards. He has not had a problem with the rapid heart beat since then. Good luck
