  1. Exactly what I was thinking! My kids used to make these, nice & easy!
  2. I have tried adjusting the tension bit by bit but I end up with snagged threads. I am using polyester thread, which was the recommended thread. I will try the 3 step and cross my fingers! Thanks to all. I can sew just enough to be dangerous.
  3. I am making a bunch of headbands with stretch fabrics. I am using a zig zag stitch and being careful not to stretch the fabric as I sew. But now I am finding when I stretch the headbands to put on I can hear some stitches break! Aarrgghh! What am I doing wrong? Every search I have done just says use zig zag stitch. thanks for any ideas!
  4. A gallon of milk for a teen boy? Not surprising to me. When I had 3 teen boys I was buying 5 gallons each time I stopped at the store. In the context of a young man needing to lose weight, a gallon of milk a day is not a great choice for him to make. Not a great choice for anybody needing to lose weight to reach a healthy weight. But the milk is not the issue. Contempt for your stepson and what you perceive as his failure to control his eating and his weight radiates in your statements. He needs help getting to better health. He is not open to that at this moment. So my sincere advice to you is to seek some counseling for yourself so you can live more harmoniously with this young man. Whether you ever speak of weight or food or milk or exercise or any of it in his presence again or not, he is already well aware of your feelings. And likely ashamed. Maybe embarrassed. Possibly angry. And you have agreed you cannot control it. But you also cannot let it go. Please consider counseling.
  5. Getting used to seeing the crazy spam this week, but this morning seemed particularly diverse. I hope they move on soon! the intention of parents who are targeted for defeat As soon as the bukuma does not attach The Korean government who is struck by the widening disparity During the development of Pokemon gold and silver ROM is outflowing Great turning point of criminal justice in Japan A movie in which an old man thinks going out with JK Whatever creation is becoming the strongest class
  6. I don’t know what income is a sustainable level for you,but with your interests and experience you might consider becoming a Registered Behavior Technician for ABA therapy. It pays well, and most employers will pay for your training, which can be as minimal as a 40-hour course if you have some experience with SN.
  7. I don't have any words for such a terrible grief, but please know as you sit with your sister, we are sitting with you. You are all in my prayers.
  8. Our cable company removed the sleep timer when they “upgraded” the boxes and remotes. I was very annoyed. I use the sleep timer on my separate tv remote.
  9. I hung removable wallpaper for a friend about a year and a half ago. It is still up so I can’t really tell you how well it comes off. I have hung (and removed) a lot of wallpaper, and I would rather size and hang regular wallpaper. For me, removable was a pain in the neck compared to regular prepasted paper. I have seen reviews by people who love it, so ymmv.
  10. Walk away, even if she has already begun speaking AT you. I am all for good manners, but not if it allows someone with poor manners to make you uncomfortable. Block her emails and , if needed, phone. If she continues to email you from the ministry email, ignore her and forward directly to the head of ministry with a brief "As you can see, this continues. Your help appreciated." If she still persists to approach you, "Sorry, can't talk" may be more comfortable for you than what I would say! Good luck!
  11. I think you have to trust whatever your gut tells you in observing him. If he seems sore, but not in pain, if he seems to be improving with time and not worsening, then you may be able to wait it out and see. If he is struggling with mobility to a degree that concerns you, perhaps you could contact either his primary care doc or look for a fracture center near you. I don't know how common these orthopedic centers are, but we have a few nearby and they have saved me trips to the ER on several occasions. They are quick, do the x-rays, and can treat strains, sprains and fractures. I am sorry. This is a difficult call. My son fractured his pelvis once, and I didn't realize it for a few days. He wasn't complaining immediately after impact (hit with a soccer ball), and when he did have pain after a couple of days, it was in his legs, so it takes some expertise by docs to figure some of this out!
  12. I unfortunately I don’t have anything to add, but I am following this as I have a family member who is currently experiencing the same issue. He wore a 48 hour monitor, and is waiting now for cardiologist to decide next move. He was only on the medicine for 3 months, and the heart rate issue was one of the factors in stopping it, though his doctor did not think it was the cause. It has been several months and his resting rate has not improved.
  13. No advice, just prayers and well wishes for you during this process.
  14. I am not seeing this, but I am also tech challenged so take it with a grain of salt.
  15. Thank you. I do understand it is a more difficult job, so I do tip. I guess I will just do what I can and hope I don’t have a big red strike on my file, lol.
  16. We always work on training to stop barking on command. “Enough” or “Quiet” are easy. Have treats, give the command, wait for even a quick moment of quiet, praise and treat. As PP said, teaching to sit quietly before receiving attention also works. I use both, and my dog will sit quietly, even if she is vibrating with excitement, when people come in.
  17. Trying a new groomer from r my labradoodle this morning. I have tipped my precious groomer $10 each visit (every 6 weeks or so). Checking online, I see advice to tip 20 %. I was paying about $72 (before tip), and this groomer will be a little more. I pay more for my dogs grooming than my own hair! I am grateful to have someone do something for her I cannot, but 20 % is more than I can do. So most people tip 20% for this service? She is well behaved while being groomed, if that matters!
  18. All of these beautiful babies seem to have been born 5 minutes ago! Benny is 16 months old?? I seem to have lost time! Snuggle and hug all of your littles. They made me smile today ?
  19. There will actually be massages offered at the event tonight. I was concerned about trying it, so maybe I will go for it! Thanks for the ideas Hornblower and Plansrme!
  20. I have never really had back issues, so need Hive wisdom. I have lower back pain, started overnight Wed into Thurs. Wednesday I did a lot of carrying heavy things, sat on the floor for about 5 hours working on a project, did some new stretches, rode my exercise bike (also a relatively new exercise). The pain is enough to keep me awake, and not much is helping. Does feel muscular, and is more to the lower left side. I do not have a doctor I could see quickly. Urgent care seems wasteful, as I suspect it will be an xray and pain meds. I have pain meds here if needed. My biggest issue is that I have a fundraiser to attend tonight. I have already advised that I will not be able to help set up, but at this moment I know I can't sit in a chair for several hours. I also just started a new job, though I did not have work Thursday or Friday due to Spring Break. I am working with special needs children, and will need to be physical. I have been taking ibuprofen. Last night I alternated with acetaminophen. I have used ice and heat alternately. I bought a Salonpas pain patch, but am concerned about using that with ibuprofen as it is also NSAID. What should I change or add to help this heal as quickly as possible? Has anyone had experience with these patches, and are they generally useful? I read conflicting reports about whether rest is better or movement (as possible) would be more helpful. I understand nobody can give me definitive information without seeing my doctor, but since I won't be able to do that until some time next week, I am just trying to make the best decisions in the interim. Thanks for any guidance!
  21. I am considering Weight Watchers as my next step if I cannot manage this on my own. I have never had a weight issue before, so it has really snuck up on me. I did stop and try on a couple of things at one of my favorite stores this morning. : ( Realizing nothing I like to wear looks comfortable and appropriate on me is very motivating. You are all kicking my butt in the exercise department!
  22. Thank you! I thought that was the one I had seen recommended, but was not sure. Ordered!
  23. This is such a heartbreaking story. The last I read yesterday, the authorities were considering whether a "felony was committed" as it appeared the black box in the SUV reflected that they pulled off the road, stopped, and then accelerated. I would love to hope the other children were not with them, but it is hard to imagine they would not have found them by now.
