Does anyone on this board home school in Alabama? I just moved to Alabama from Georgia. I need some advice on picking a cover school. I just talked to a Lady at the Board of Education and she said that she would send me a packet of information. It would contain the days and times I should be schooling. She also said that some cover schools don't help you with curriculum. Others guide you with your curriculum. I want the one that doesn't help. My county doesn't have a cover school. From what I understand of the law, I just send money to someone I pick off the internet. Maybe I need some help interpreting the Alabama home school laws.

My dd completed JAG in the 4th grade. She can diagram sentences very well. Now I find myself having a hard time taking a break to begin Analytical Grammar in the later grades. JAG does not cover punctuation, usage issues such as verb tenses and comparative forms of adjectives, dictionary skills, comprehensive composition skills, and other language art skills. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should use this year? DD is going into 5th grade.

I am going to be in the car a lot next year. I am looking for curriculum we can watch on the DVD while driving. Is there anything out there for science and history on DVD? What kind of home school do you do when your in the car a lot?

Ds is 8. The diagnoses included memory deficit and slow processing speed. He is doing fine in math. I want to focus on reading, spelling, and writing.

Ds was just diagnosed on Thursday with disorder of written expression. I am feeling a little overwhelemed. I am trying to decide on a good curriculum for him. Does anyone have any ideas? Also, should I get a tutor for him?

I am feeling so helpless and confused. I am in tears as I am writing this. My ds is 7. I know that he has ADD and Dyslexia. I am making adjustments in my teaching style and materials with him. It is so frustrating to teach him. My pediatrician recommended educational testing for him. The initial visit is $150 then $125 per hour for the testing. Ouch!! Would we benefit from testing? My husband is against any kind of testing. He is very against medication. He feels that I don't discipline enough. (My children are very disciplined.) He says that if I would just discipline ds, he could pay attention. Dh doesn't understand because he is not doing the teaching. I am considering public school for next year. I love ds dearly. I feel as though I am harming our relationship. I get so frustrated teaching him. I usually let out a sigh of disappointment when he misses another question. He is trying to please me. He usually tears up. I have just stopped school for the day because I don’t feel as though I can sit with him any longer. I hate that I feel this way. I want to be a positive mom and teacher. I feel as though I am not cut out to homeschool my ds with learning problems. I am the only person that feels this way?

After 13 years of marriage, I am finally getting to purchase a kitchen table. I know that this table is going to have to last for a long time. I am trying to make the most of my money. I have a few questions about my purchase. 1. Should my table match my cabinets? My cabinets are medium oak. Should I get a darker color? 2. I really like the pub tables. I have 2 year old, will it be hard for him to get into a tall chair? 3. What brand of table is the best quality? 4. Where did you purchase your kitchen table?
