  1. Thanks for all the info. I make bone broth twice a week so at least i’m doing that one thing.
  2. I am not crafty. I took the girls to Joann fabrics let them go nuts and then my dear, saint of a friend sewed with them. Another friend did tie dye with the girls (in her NYC kitchen-I have amazing friends). my go to thing which I’m doing tomorrow is a museum and fancy tea date.
  3. What brand do you use? Thanks so much.
  4. Someone was picking my brain about French in elementary school (child is 3rd grade) and I recall I liked the Galore Park books then (before I cheated and sent my kids to France lol). Anyway I seem to recall they changed recently and am not all sure what they look like. I guess question is, has anyone used recently and are they still good and where can I see a sample and—are there any other resources you like for French for that age? I can’t even remember what we did but whatever it was it was haphazard and these seem like organized parents…
  5. @Nart I’m wondering if you ended up switching the order of the chapters per the Kolbe curriculum? I’m using Foerster and DO for my 7th grader (that goes to public school, so we will take our sweet time with these). I was looking for a syllabus and came across this thread. Thank you
  6. Yes I believe most things are completely random and driven by luck. I’m really resentful of the lie we’ve been told of work hard and all will fall into place. on the other hand, I continue to perpetuate this lie with my own children, because it’s one of the few things one can control (how hard one works). I do also insist on sporadic joy though, so maybe not all is lost.
  7. I don’t bake even as I am a fairly decent cook (I dislike the precision baking requires). Anyway I have a house full of people for a week doing summer things. So I’m going to make this. I don’t have self rising flour so I imagine I will add some baking soda or powder or whatever.https://www.pauladeen.com/recipe/southern-peach-cobbler-recipe/#ingredients
  8. Do BOTH these trips: safari and take my girl and my nieces to see Taylor Swift in Paris (no we don’t have tickets currently). One of these things is happening next year god willing but probably not both.
  9. Wow thanks so much everyone. And special thanks to the prepared camp counselors. ❤️🙏
  10. Pls don’t quote 1. What are your favorite period underwear brands for young girls? My dd is afraid it will happen while she’s in sleep away camp…And 2. Any special things you did to mark the thing? I have a little girl (not my DD) living me with now and it happened). We are traveling too 🤦‍♀️
  11. So, asking for a friend (true story, my next one is on school full time and in 6th grade): if her senior “enrolled” in local zoned public high school and didn’t take a single class there but did this so he could play soccer (guidance has apparently approved this), they don’t list it, yeah? I was concerned she’d have to list it and then have to explain away even more homeschool weirdness.
  12. Any job that requires parallel parking. Though I got lucky in NYC yesterday, heh.
  13. I have no SAT specific tips but just want to say my DS was the same and he managed to raise his math score a huge amount from where he started. Issue is it took a bit of time ((more than a month) and he didn’t get his nearly perfect ACT score (which was the number he was aiming for) until a bit later senior year than August. So, it can be done but it may take a bit of runway is all. I’ve heard anecdotally fall senior year is a huge growth time 💪
  14. I was in my evening walk (the end of it, slow, uphill) and I witnessed this phenomenon of a hawk being chased by two much smaller (sparrow size or thereabouts) birds. These two were clearly harassing the hawk. It would stop at a branch, or, low on the grass near the bushes of a house, and then it would need to take flight again as these two little loud things chased it. It happened at least three times. Any explanation for this behavior? Many thanks.
  15. We have that one in NYC 😉 my dd is not a doll girl but she did have a brief AG phase. Now it’s all about the squish-mallows and Japanese mystery cat boxes or whatever they’re called…
  16. Amazing ideas, thanks all so much. Not going to step foot in a Hershey store with a French kid (or just normally lol) but may give in on the pizza. My little Frenchie loves America and all things American (state fair here we come ;)) so I think we will have so much fun ❤️🙏
  17. There used to be a site, but it may have been taken offline that had an insane amount of real ACT tests. Like maybe close to a hundred unless I’m exaggerating? Maybe ask on the reddit sub thread as I think those tests went somewhere. also if taking multiple times I try to order the question and answer service (for for the ACT at least is only offered certain dates).
  18. We live near NYC and I Iived in Chicago (for a summer) but these two girls (DD and her French “sister”) have never been. What are your must-dos for the kids? I don’t care about deep dish pizza fYI 🙂
  19. Rheumatologists can be hit or miss. Like all doctors. My DH had JRA (though probably some other sort of anti inflammatory disease that was triggered by a horrible staph infection as a child (this is my own theory) and during a horrific flare up his 20s he was totally dismissed by a certain distinguished graduate of Harvard medical school. We saw this guy’s former prof next and that was some help in coming up with a plan. I will say what helped most in my DH’s case was to lower the inflammation any way we could. Fish oils, green and white tea, ginger, turmeric, I threw the kitchen sink at this. Also lowering stress levels as much as possible, as much sleep as possible. Once the switch was “off” he’s been completely functional (as in, learn and become an excellent skier in his thirties, etc). he now occasionally has flare ups after he’s put particular stress on his body.
  20. Sorry it’s neither, it’s the distributions by school. Thanks so much
  21. I knew this at one point but the information fell out of my head. I seem to recall that each school receives by the College board a distribution of the AP scores for that school, for that year. It had a specific name. Can anyone help me out? Thanks very much in advance.
  22. Where do you order these? Amazon scares me. As an aside, I noticed Thorne has berberine mow—I thought that was a good brand.
  23. Not averse, no, but as a professional/working woman most damage to my career has come from other women, not “the patriarchy”.
  24. How was the hatchet audio? Always looking for audio for all of summer’s field trips. Jane Austen in comics huh? This is a revelation!
