  1. Weigh to go! I need to lose quite a few pounds myself, I'm heavier than you. It is always encouraging to see others have success!
  2. Happy Anniversary! Yesterday was our 15th anniversary, and my DH didn't give me anything either. But since we are on vacation, I wasn't too disappointed. I didn't get him anything either. LOL. Totally understand your disappointment though, been there and done that.
  3. We are on the Outer Banks right now and it is just beautiful; last week I was worried we'd have to cancel our vacation, but was glad I had that travel insurance! We went to Ocracoke a few yrs. ago when we were here, I can't imagine waiting for the ferry when everyone was evacuating! Maybe the name is an Indian name? I found a little more history about it here: http://www.ocracokeguide.com/history/, I copied a paragraph and pasted below: Ocracoke Island history is rich and interesting and dates back centuries prior to the change and tourism of recent times. A common Ocracoke history question from first-time visitors is “How do you pronounce the name of this place?” It seems people have been asking that for years. The earliest record of Ocracoke Island’s name, on a map made by English explorer John White in 1585, designates the inlet as “Wokokon.” Subsequent spellings include “Woccocock,” “Oakacock” and “Okercock.” The name derives from the Woccon tribe of Native Americans, who lived in the mainland tidewater and came to the island for seafood feasts in fair weather. The inlet, the island and the village now all carry the name Ocracoke, which, incidentally, is pronounced like the vegetable and the soft drink.
  4. I truly feel sorry for the lady and her kids, I'm so glad your church helped them out! I do hope the man will take any help and change before it's too late. Bless your church for all the people they help.
  5. I've only been on thryoid meds for almost 2 yrs, and have had adjustments, so I think mine was caused mostly by major stress. Good luck with this, let us know how you do! :grouphug:
  6. I also have hypothyroidism, which I'm on meds for. My dr. had me take a saliva test to test my hormones and my adrenals were also fatigued. She gave me some vitamins for it and they helped tremendously. She said I would notice my adrenals were better, if I missed the vitamins and still felt like I had some energy. She also told me not to feel bad about needing to rest. I always feel guilty when I need a nap, but have learned that my body needs more rest sometimes. My estrogen was also too high, so I use a natural progesterone cream for that, plus she advised me to change my diet, which I've had a hard time doing. She recommended organic foods, but I can't afford all of them. It did take me awhile to start feeling better, and I still have my bad days, but I don't feel so depressed all the time. I've also lost 20 pounds slowly over those 6 months, which is a good start to the total amount I need to lose. I do hope you can feel better soon, it's an awful thing to be so tired all the time.
  7. I've been wanting to try this for years, now I have that urge again. Thanks for the pics!
  8. We are also going to be doing a timeline this year, so thanks for this thread. Love the pictures and the links!
  9. Hi! I'm new here too, and have already found tons of info and help here just by browsing! Welcome.
  10. My oldest DS learned at age 4. Second DS didn't read until 7. Third DS, who just turned 8, has been struggling, but is just now starting to read signs, cereal boxes, etc. This thread has made me feel much better about this, I was worried it was all my fault!
