  1. My daughter is the same age with similar issues. She is also doing CLE 300s and it's been wonderful!! Glad you have found it works for your daughter too!
  2. My parents never read to us growing up and so I read a lot on my own. I loved reading though, But now reading all the childrens classics I never got read as a kid to my daughter has become such a special part of our homeschooling. I read an hour a day ( the chronicles of Prydain series currently) And at night we listen to an audio book for 30 minutes.
  3. I just started watching our first great course DVD series ever! Its the Phil Dialeaders series on medieval times and I'm learning new things right along With my son....sooooo interesting! I already have a mental list of the great courses we want to see in the near future. Great Courses from this point on will be a permant part of our homeschool! The library makes this possible because I would blow of homeschool budget trying To buy all the ones we want to see!
  4. I have heard great thing about K12's American Odyssesy textbook. I'm thinking about Using that for my son's 10th grade American history course. Has anyone used AO and have any suggestions of what I could add along with the textbook? I'm definetly adding the Great Courses lectures but other then that I'm looking for supplementary type of readings to go along with AO. Thanks! Pam
  5. We will be working off the Mensa for Kids reading list this summer.
  6. We plan to complete the Chronicles of Prydain series as our read outloud this summer.
  7. [-I think what many people also don't get is how unless you completely cut-off contact with NPD, the attacks are almost 100% unavoidable. There is no passing the bean-dip, walking away, you can't even pretend to agree to make it go away. The NPD is 100% calculating & out to get you & they will not stop until its done. Even then they may not stop. You cannot survive the constant attacks without severe emotional damage or becoming a robot. Yes, I know how paranoid & out-there this sounds. Its just the truth and you don't understand unless you've lived it. This is so true. NPDs are dangerous, wicked and are truely horrible.
  8. My son did TT7 in 6th grade last year. This year he was going to take a co op class that Taught BJU pre algebra. I did not think with tt7 he would have been ready for BJU pre algebra so instead he will be taking BJU math 7 fundamentals with the videos for 7th.
  9. We have done this! My favorite time for resort hopping is during Christmas. Love the Wildressness Lodge rustic Christmas decorations with the HUGE Christmas tree in the lobby or the enormous gingerbread cottage at the Grand Floridian. Can't wait until its that time again!
  10. Disboards.com has a homeschool families section in the forums. You can talk to other homeschool families that love Disney and could share loads of advice for you.
  11. Such a TACKY remark and then to let her kids do damage to your wallpaper! She really showed her character that day:glare:
  12. I'm curious to hear about your experience in SC because we are thinking about moving there one day. Im sorry to hear how lonely life is there for you.
  13. More people need to know about NPD. These people can be like murders in the sense they will try at least to kill your spirit. Especially the scapegoat child...they aren't some out of control loose cannon but sneaky, calculating, liars who will slander you to ....no matter that you are their grown flesh and blood child They have no natural affections. None.
  14. That's so funny! We are getting a puppy also this weekend Complete with the four hour trip there and back! In our case, we had planned to wait for summer litter but we fell in love with a puppy from the current pups..labradoodle. Good luck with your sweet puppy..I know we are super excited for ours!
  15. thank you everyone..i received my passwords today!:) now I'm happy. g3online.com is online courses for gifted children but open to all kids, I believe. There is something called social discussion in which kids can talk in forums as a socail outlet but also have access to BrainPop, BrainPop, JR., and basic Discovery streaming online video for $59. until July 2012! It's an amazing deal and my son today has already watched videos on Vikings, crocodiles, snakes and on and on!
  16. I signed my son up for the discovery streaming Brain Pop. I paid using paypal and now I don't see where the log in is for him to start using it! He has a home page but there is nothing under courses. Does it take more then a day to have access to the streaming and brainpop? feel kind of silly but where is it?
  17. :auto: My son is running towards the remote to DVR the series! We had no idea about this...Thank You!
  18. My son had similar experiences in PS. In fourth grade there is a picture in the schools year book of his class walking in a line to lunch and my DS face and body language is that of boredom/misery. It makes me sad to see that picture. There was LESS socialization going on for him at school then homeschooling. He is SO much happier with homeschooling and the socialization has been positive and confident boosting as well!
  19. Well, Im not very computer savvy so I will try my best in explaining. :) First, I read this.http://www.ehow.com/how_5895056_convert-_pages-_pdf.html. I used nuance PDF reader. I uploaded the TOG student pages from a file. Then once the pages were on Nuance PDF reader I would high light what I wanted and then copy then go to Microsoft Office and paste. From there I would create the space between the questions then print. This is the free PDF reader I downloaded http://www.nuance.com/products/pdf-reader/index.htm
  20. Yes there is a way! I did it this year after reading this..http://web.mac.com/rivendellpress/Rivendell_Press/TOG_Workbooks/Entries/2009/6/20_Spiral_Workbooks.html I upload first to a PDF reader then from there to Windows office then made the changes..
