  1. My DD has me listen to someone like this. It's cool sounding. That's about it.
  2. Asked around. Yes, there is a small outbreak in the area. I'm sorry on behalf of the Jewish community. 😢
  3. I haven't heard of any mumps outbreak in the Orthodox Jewish community in upstate NY but sadly I wouldn't be surprised. If I hear of anything I'll let you know. I hope everyone recovers quickly and easily.
  4. I just read this thread and I thought how sad. But I just thought, why would you SIL put this on your nephew? Does she not trust you? If not, why is she letting you take him? Is she working with your STBX? So confused.
  5. You are a rock star! Keep doing your strategies to keep you from pinching their heads off.
  6. I believe my mother has that on our trip to Israel. She's immunocompromised. She has a terrible cough for three weeks, lethargy, and raspy throat. She's better now!
  7. Made the lentil cranberry en croute (Wellington). Good luck with your plans!
  8. Baked them already last night. Leaving for NC tonight with an overnight stay. Finishing up the vegetarian entree soon.
  9. My Costco gave me only 1- 5 pack per person so I'm heading back to CVS for my monthly tests.
  10. Twins can be pushed together to make a king for a couple. A full is too small for today's American couples.
  11. That very much sounds like the flu. I'm so sorry! It is terrible to be sick around the holidays. I hope some of your local people will love on you and pamper you while you don't feel well.
  12. I'm so sorry Laura. Our relationships with the people closest to us are multifaceted and so our reactions to their death. I hope you have peace in knowing you were a good and dutiful daughter in her time of need.
  13. The 2nd DS who got COVID again just last month in London tells my husband he now feels faint upon getting up from sitting. More I don't know if that's from covid or that he is a strict vegan who doesn't always eat the most varied of diets (not unhealthy just not varied). We have asked him to see a doctor for bloodwork. We will see if he does it there or back in Boston in December.
  14. Rustic lentil soup with smoked paprika and coriander with a dash of dried ginger as the spices. Lots of veggies cooked up in it.
  15. I just got a link to this recipe for a Thanksgiving main dish for vegans and I think I have a winner for my family! They don't do pasta. Vegan Lentil Stromboli
  16. Summer, summer, summer, summer. Okay, I'll tolerate fall until it gets cold. Please give me one or at most two snowfalls where I can enjoy the quietude and shovelling exercise. And a quick spring so we can get to SUMMER! I grew up in NC and love that kind of summer so it needs to be hot and humid. Now that I live in Boston it's too cold all summer here.
  17. My two oldest have had covid twice (my oldest doesn't like to test but was finally forced to by his workplace). My oldest may have had covid 2-3 times by now. I believe my oldest (only first mRNA vaccine then he refused) (and the other kids aside from my second oldest) got COVID the first time March 2020 when my husband came home from Japan after being with many of the Jewish cruise ship people stuck in Yokohama. They all had a light fever and a dry cough. I couldn't get them tested though because at the time they were only testing people coming from Wuhan. 🙄 The next time he may have gotten COVID was March 2021. He said it took him weeks to stop coughing and was bone tired. He just had COVID three weeks ago and he said it was bad but not as bad as second time. It still took him 2 weeks to feel mostly better My second oldest's (vaccinated but not boosted) first bout of covid was Dec 2020 had a 10 day bad cold, lost his sense of taste and smell, bad cough, some fever. He got COVID again in October. 3 days positive testing, mild cough, like a cold. if my daughter (vaccinated and boosted) got COVID at the beginning she had it twice as well. First time was as above. Second time (June 2022) was 10 days of mild coughing, fatigue, sore throat. My youngest (vaccinated and boosted) may have had covid at the beginning as above with a light fever and dry cough. But officially had never had COVID.
  18. Can your family run interference while you busy yourself in the kitchen? That's one reason why I hate open floor plans....
  19. Isn't that what being busy in the kitchen is for?
  20. Viruses sometimes cause hives. I would start with Zyrtec (you can double up the dose) and Pepcid (both are antihistamines) before I did the steroids. Good luck!
  21. Where the heck is the baby spinach? I'm in Boston and haven't seen it on good condition in several weeks. I got a batch last week that went slimy within a day after buying it. I've gone to several stores (Costco, TJ's, Stop and Shop).
  22. I make rice almost every day. I had a Zojirushi and the seal died on the cooker. You can still make a good pot of rice but it dries up after less than 24 hours. Otherwise it was terrific. I now have a Cuckoo from Korea and it is great in that it also is a pressure cooker which means I can have rice ready in as little as 18 minutes. It's not cheap though. I got an Aroma from Costco once and took it back immediately after trying to cook rice in it. Get a Panasonic or other Asian brand.
