  1. Thanks so much everyone! I am going to sit down and take a look at all of the programs on Monday. I will come back if I have anyquestons after researching. It's so great to get suggestions on what has worked in similar situations.
  2. I want strong grammar and help with the writing. She is getting better with the spelling part of writing but when I ask her to be imaginative and come up with a story she has to think a lot and tries to short cut y writing short sentences. She is getting better but has difficulty being creative. I can run a similar exercise by my 5 year old and she can run on and on with a story. The oldest behaves like a pinball is bouncing around in her head for a while and gets frustrated before coming up with something. I know that she is thinking about the spelling, what she wants to say and the rest of it all at one time and wants to perfect it all at once. I need to make sure whatever I use covers all of the bases with phonics, grammar, writing and so on. Does that make sense? We were using LifePac and it was horrible last year. I also used typing programs, word cards, typing and writing words and lots of reading.
  3. I love that! That is really cool and you can't beat the price!
  4. Last year at the suggestion of a few on this site I tried Science Fusion. It was very thorough but the customer service end of things made it difficult. I need something like this minus the price tag and hassle of poor customer service. It can be either book based, web based or a blend. Any suggestions would be appreciated greatly!
  5. I need some ideas on language arts for my daughter as what we were using before (Lifepac) is not strong enough. It needs to be strong in helping her improve her writing skills. She is great at reading and getting there with spelling but really needs to strengthen writing. I am kind of in a panic about it. I lean more towards secular but as long as it is strong I don't care one way of the other. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. P.S. - any suggestions on a good typing program would also be appreciated!
  6. We have a regular day plus Art, library or maybe a field trip.
  7. I was just digging around online and found RS4K and SF. I am trying to look at SF online but can't seem to get it to open up. They look really good. Thanks!
  8. My oldest daughter has decided that she doesn't want to use Lifepac for Science anymore because she thinks that it is juvenile. Does anyone have any advice on another Science program suitable for her age? Thanks!
  9. My family has used homeopathics for years and while I understand what they are saying you don't need to worry about it. Just treat it like any other med where you wouldn't hold the pill too long before taking it. Also, just like and other med there are times when you will have special directions depending on what you are taking. You can always ask your doctor or look it up.
  10. Enchanted Learning Starfall I also check books stores for what seems appropriate. In Fall I will be teaching more than one child for the first time as well.
  11. I want to begin teaching Mandarin to my oldest (6) in Fall. Can anyone suggest books or programs that have worked for you? Thanks!:001_smile:
