  1. What everyone else has mentioned, plus... candles!
  2. I had a dishwasher that stopped opening the door for the detergent. I just stopped closing the little door. I'd fill the dispenser with the gel and wash as usual otherwise. Had no issues at all. In that same dishwasher, if I had a tab, I'd just toss it in. I personally think the dispenser is more for convenience than necessity.
  3. I'm seeing Frontier Elderberry for $45 for 1 lb on Amazon. ? I have it in my shopping cart. I'm trying to decide whether to go ahead and buy it, or wait for Mountain Rose Herbs to come back in stock, which won't be until November. ?
  4. I have a Moto g5 plus, too. I've never had issues with the camera, but I did have an issue with not being able to access my sim card or my network or something (I can't remember exactly what, but I couldn't make calls or text). I think it was about 4-6 months after I got it. I tried everything, and finally went online and filed a work order under the warranty. It was super easy. I paid around $20-30 for shipping to get the replacement phone shipped to me first without waiting for them to receive my old phone, but I didn't have to do that. So if all else fails, maybe you could try that. I do like my Moto phone, though! I think Lanny was the one who turned me in that direction after my Samsung fiasco. (Thanks, Lanny!)
  5. Same as Kristen, when I subscribe to something, I always subscribe for delivery every month, then each month, I take stock and decide exactly what I want/need. Currently, my list is: dog food cat food dog deodorizing spray Advantix feminine pads facial wipes lotion sea salt coffee Emergen-C KIND bars smoked oysters (my latest addition to S&S) Mucinex granules Mucinex 12-hr vitamins
  6. I was taught this as well. I do notice that around here, in the deep south, a lot of men will not initiate a handshake first, so I often just go ahead and offer. I think it might be a tradition that's fading, cause I often meet men who have no problems initiating a handshake as well.
  7. Spaghetti - to get more veggies, I add the Kroger frozen mirepoix or cajun mirepoix blend with the sauce, makes a chunky sauce, ups the taste and the nutrition, and one bag is just over $1 here Chicken alfredo fettucine - with spinach (frozen leaf spinach or wait until the fresh baby spinach is on markdown and then put it in the freezer till you're ready to use it) Make a meat gravy (chicken or ground beef is what I'll use) that's also got some veggies of some kind (again, the frozen mirepoix blend or chopped onions or spinach) and serve it over rice My mom used to take cooked rice and mix it with seasoned meat (either cooked chicken or ground beef). The beef version was one of my favorites. When I started feeding my large family, I realized she wasn't doing it because of how it tasted but because of how economical it was. Shepherd's Pie (but with ground beef, which is technically NOT shepherd's pie, but I can't remember the correct name.) Potato casserole - This is a recipe that I made. Basically, this is an upside down shepherd's pie, but since my dh isn't keen on mashed potatoes, I layered the bottom of the dish with sliced potatoes and put the meat and veggie mix on top (instead of the meat and veggie mix on the bottom and the mashed potatoes on top.) I can give you the full recipe if you want, but the biggest thing is making sure the potatoes are cooked all the way. I usually slice them and get them started cooking at a high temp (475) while I get the rest of it prepared.
  8. I put them on Rosemary & Olive Oil Triscuits.
  9. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. It seemed awfully quick to be simply iron. I think maybe a combination of things, and I bet that B12 played a huge factor.
  10. So after a bit of looking, it seems that canned oysters are a bit of a superfood! Well, superfood to me, anyway, not that they're actually classified as that. It's like eating a multivitamin. They're high in iron, protein, and (you named it, Acadie!) vitamin B-12, as well as vitamins A, E and K, potassium, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B-6 and folate. They even have calcium. And they're high in omega-3s. I did not know all this! Raw oysters have vitamin C, but that's destroyed in the canning process. Some of these vitamins and minerals are leached into the oil during the canning process, too, so to get all the benefits you've got to eat the oil, too, which is probably not that great when it's canned in cottonseed or sunflower oil, but you can get them in olive oil! Yes, very high in sodium. Sodium deficiency does cause fatigue, and it is also linked to hypothyroidism, adrenal gland insufficiency (Addison's disease) among other things, and hormonal imbalances, all of which can also cause fatigue. Thank you for reading my mini-report on smoked oysters. ? Smoked oysters are now becoming a staple in my pantry. The kind I liked is the Crown Prince Natural (canned in olive oil.)
  11. Perhaps a combination? I'm going to look into low sodium and electrolytes and iron and see what I find.
  12. Maybe? I don't have a low sodium diet, and lots of things that I eat are high in sodium, too. But I did get a double whammy of high sodium in both the crackers and oysters. I've never equated sodium with energy, though, so I'd have never thought of that.
  13. Once upon a time, my sis told me a trick to get your iron count up quickly: smoked oysters. The other day, I was really dragging (not uncommon for me) and I realized that it was probably at least partially due to low iron levels. I've been forgetting my vitamins. So I got some smoked oysters and some crackers and ate the whole 3 oz tin. I felt better instantly. Way better. Today, same thing. Different brand, and these were much tastier, but I feel so much better having eaten them! (I have GOT to get back to my vitamin routine! I've been really bad about forgetting them lately.) Do iron levels respond that quickly? Is there something else that's giving me a boost when I eat these? They are also high in protein, but so are many other things that I've tried, and nothing has given me a pick-me-up like that, except surprisingly, those little .5 oz energy drinks. Thoughts?
  14. I've never done this, but I wonder if you can cast a ballot without actually voting? I've always been able to find a 3rd party candidate or someone that I would vote for if I could just not vote for either major candidate, which is, unfortunately, becoming more frequent. But, I feel like casting a ballot with no vote is voicing my extreme dissatisfaction of the available candidates. I'm just not sure if that's an option.
  15. I use antiperspirant there, too, when needed. It really helps.
  16. BTDT, I bought a Samsung phone off Amazon that was listed as new, but shortly found out that it was NOT new. According to the information in the box (it was packaged to look new, too!) there was no warranty at. all. When it decided to stop working, though, I called Samsung anyway. Turns out, there WAS a warranty on that phone, but it had expired the previous year because the phone was preowned. Samsung was willing to work with me, even though it wasn't their fault, but I chatted w/ Amazon and got a complete refund on that phone. I recommend chatting w/ Amazon and telling them you bought something listed as new but turns out it wasn't new and ask for a complete refund (make sure they don't deduct for shipping or whatever). I've always found Amazon to be super nice when it comes to problems. Then go find a different phone or go back to Best Buy.
  17. Doesn't sound like a flaky seller. Sounds like an outright scam. Sorry you're having to deal with this. Hope you get your money back soon.
  18. Sounds like a good opportunity! You'll do great! (hugs)
  19. Qustodio was the app that I was looking at for my older kids/teens. You might find this article that reviews parental control apps to be helpful. Qustodio is in this article, too.
  20. ScreenTime is something I use for the kids' phones & Kindles. I don't think it works for laptops though. I do remember seeing another similar program that worked for laptops and phones but not Kindles. I was thinking of getting it for my older two. It didn't have the tasks to earn screen time, but I remember it looked more suitable for older kids/teens. ScreenTime is great for my younger ones, but it's something I find that I don't use so often with my 13 yo, so it might not be the best choice for those older. There are some good parental control apps that allow you to see what's going on, filter websites and such, and help establish some accountability. Maybe something like that? Where they're in charge of their time, but there are some safety rails in place to prevent wandering where they shouldn't be going, and you can see what they're up to and discuss with them it with them if you don't like what you see?
  21. I'm sorry, Mbelle, but I do not understand your answer. Where are Swedish homeschoolers going if homeschooling is Sweden is not allowed? Private schools? Japan? And if it's not allowed, are the homeschoolers there underground, so to speak?
  22. Great article. Thanks. I'll have to come back to read the comments.
  23. I personally wouldn't use an oil base, cause oil tends to stain clothes. I would use a mixture of water and alcohol, or maybe water and witch hazel. I have this page bookmarked for myself: Campers Guide to Essential Oil Bug Repellent: Mosquitoes, Ticks, and Fleas
