  1. I am SO thankful for this thread tonight. We started with tears first thing this morning and it was a long day for me, and for them too. Partially I know it was my fault for not being up before the kids (had a very late night of planning last night) but me oh my, when I asked them to copy 2 rows of a poem you would have thought I asked them to copy pages and pages. :001_huh: Hoping for a better day tomorrow. I used to be a ps teacher too and wish I could get half of the work out of my kids that I could out of other people's kids-with out all the emotions would be great too. I was just thinking (again) today how different it is to homeschool vs. the ps classroom. So. very. different.
  2. We are doing some e-book unit studies, Math 4 Today-which is a copyable workbook, and another printable e-book from dyslexiagames.com this fall. Before I break the bank trying just to print these books, does anyone have advise about the best way to go about it? My own printer, go to Staples, etc etc? TIA! :) Oh, and I'm printing the same things double time since I have 2 girls completing the same things. :tongue_smilie:
  3. Is it bad that this thread has me totally giggling? So sorry. I guess I just needed to laugh at this very moment. ;) It is good to know this can happen-just for future reference.
  4. We practiced this when I was a public school teacher, but there was a secret code said over the loud speaker. Something like "the principal has lost her keys..." I can't imagine the students having to hear "intruder, intruder."
  5. I'd so badly like to go but can't find anyone to go along with me from west Tx. It's quite a long drive to go it alone. Sounds like it will be amazing though-are any of you going? If so what are you looking forward to? :)
  6. We bought Pianimals at the start of last school year. My girls completed the first book this year-not with rigorous practice either. They are 7 and 8 and really enjoyed it! Looking forward to book 2 this next year. As for my background, I took some lessons when I was young, but not much. I would say it's a good program for someone who has just basic knowledge of music. :)
  7. I would highly recommend a chiropractor, but first find a friend with recommendations to a good one in your area. :)
  8. ummm, I bet I'd have a TON of boxes of books too. Let's hope I don't have to move any time soon. Plus I only have 2 kids. You have a few more, so I'd say you should have lots of books. :001_smile:
  9. We are working on Little Keepers from http://www.keepersofthefaith.com My girls are 7 and 8-even though it says the first book is for up to 7 years old, we're still working on accomplishing the skills they have listed for that younger age group. :001_smile:
  10. I love this idea. :) Did you use a paint or was it more like something you apply like contact paper?
