  1. My darling does work in the field. Our options were to see him for 5 days a month or move so we can be together more. We are planning on schooling during his 21 days on, then taking off and spending his 7 days off playing as a family. I think it will work well for us! And, his 21 days on duty are 12 hour days, so we WILL be seeing him every day! We have been an oilfield family for almost 8 years, so odd schedules are our norm. We are looking forward to being together again. I am already tired of being a single mom and it's only been a few weeks, it might be a LONG few months! LOL, at least we have an awesome goal at the end!
  2. We were VERY lucky to find an amazing house right at the end of our house-hunting trip. It had just gone on the market hours before. I was shocked by how expensive the homes are, but I didn't find the prices at Wal-Mart to be much different than the prices at my local Wally-World right now. In fact, the milk was cheaper in Williston! I can't wait to start this journey...everything has fallen into place, we found the house up there, then came home and our current house had already shown twice and had an offer on it. We are closing on the sale at the end of this month, but we can't close on our new house for another month because there are so many closings up there that they are THAT back-logged. So, my darling is up there working, living in a hotel while I am single parenting and am getting ready to go camp out with the kiddos at my folks for a month! It is a crazy time!
  3. We are moving from Colorado to Williston!!! We homeschooled one child for 2 years, the others were in public, now we are bringing them all home and adding the youngest into the school program!! I am so excited to be teaching my kiddos again! The problem is that I have heard that ND is a pretty rough place to homeschool. I was hoping that some of you could give me some info and/or tips. TIA!
  4. Thank you so much everyone. I am hopeful we can make it through this week and next will be better. Thanks again.
  5. Thank you all so much! I will try the white board idea tomorrow and I love the idea of the note to dad too! You are all so wonderful. And yes, I will work on my perfectionistic tendencies too.
  6. I have not been on track for my DD 7. She had a rough year last year in PS. She was reading on a 5/6 grade level, but the teacher wouldn't let her read anything the other 1st graders weren't reading. She was bored, wanted to add details to her drawings, didn't get her work done becasue she didn't see the point in doing it--anyway, all this resulted in the teacher wanting to retain her in first becasue she was concerned about DD being able to handle the workload in 2nd grade. DD was doing pretty good this year, if I could get her to work, but she really doesn't want to do anything for me except read. She is a perfectionist who is terrified of getting anything wrong, so that results in a lot of tears and hair pulling out on both our parts. Before Halloween we were finally getting into a pretty good grove and were able to complete everything before DS got home from his half day of PS Kinder. Then we started losing our way. A very close friend, a young girl about to graduate from highschool who I had babysat from the day she was born until I went away to college, was tragically killed in an accident. I can't seem to pull it together. We have VERY sporadically done any school, and even on days we did, it was only part of the subjects I had planned. Now DH is threatening to send dd back to PS if I don't get it together NOW and get school going full steam this week. I tried this morning, and I seem to be back at square one with her not wanting to do the work I request of her. I was using the file system, but I am so far off I don't even know where to start on that. I was putting her work into a weekly binder for her, but she seems to be getting frozen when she sees all that work. I either need a hug or a kick in the tail. Maybe both. Thanks for any input . Sorry it's so long. I just needed to get this off my chest.
  7. Thank you all so much! You sure have given me a lot to think about!
  8. I would do it sooner rather than later. It will help those muscles to relax and and release any nerves that are pinched before they get too much inflamation. If you wait too long it can take more treatments to get thebsame results! Good luck!
  9. Thanks so much! I am about to push the button to order SWR so, I am wondering if anyone else has any suggestions or reccomendations before I do! Thanks again for any more help!
  10. Thanks so much to both of you! My dd is reading well, so the goal is spelling and not reading. I was glad etc was compared with starfall...she has already been using that and I haven't seen any improvement. I think I may go with swr! Thanks!
