  1. My daughter is going to do challenge A, it will be the tutors first time teaching. I've been asking her questions and found out she is studying Latin every Tuesday with another mom. She is also studying the other curricula and taking some other classes to prepare herself. Maybe you can ask how the tutor is preparing? When we started foundations 2 years ago it was a new campus. The director had been at another campus one year before that, but she is great we all love her. Now our campus is full and people want join, because of her and the rest of the tutors. Again ask questions see what their goals are for the campus. I really think the directors attitude and goals will make or break the campus.
  2. I was planning for next year and read this. "Now updated and revised with new content! Newly revised and updated, Susan Wise Bauer's writing instruction book is part I of The Complete Writer series, a curriculum helping you to take charge of your child's writing skills now." What's updated??? I have the first version but now I think I want the second updated one. But what is the difference?
  3. They have open house days. I think that's how you can get the feel of the campus. Talk to people, ask questions. Every campus is different. Our campus is about 20 minutes from our house. But I know that in that area there are more homeschoolers.
  4. What should I use if I don't use AAS or Essentails?
  5. Very helpful thank you. Now I have to rethink things.
  6. Thank you! You also helped me with my oldest writing😃 this will be for my 1st grader. I was going to do SOTW too. Would this be to much?
  7. Thank for sharing! That's my experience with AAR. But i had her highlight themðŸ˜.
  8. Thank you! Very helpful! BookWorm4 did you start level B? How did your daughter handle the change?
  9. Thank you! On my way to buy LoE foundations😄
  10. Would she miss anything if we don't do essentials? Or any reading program after?
  11. Or can I do LoE foundations A-D and be done with phonics and start AAS? And what Level should I start with for LoE?
  12. Ok I was searching the board for a pre reading curriculum for my 4 year old and found LoE foundations A (did not like Pre AAR). So now I'm thinking of switching my 5 year old that is almost done with AAR level 1. She's reading her readers and the fluency sheets (which she does not like) knows her sounds well but still reads very slow. She tries to spell things out on her own but can't or tries to read other things on her own but does know all her sounds. So now I'm thinking of switching her to LoE foundations so that she can learn her sounds sooner. I was so set on using AAR but now I think a want a faster program. Also, would I be able to use AAS with LoE? Or does AAS move slow?
  13. I joined for social reasons also.... This is our 2nd year and my daughters and I like it. I didn't at 1st, I questioned everything. But now seeing the program as a whole has put me at ease. We only do Foundations (next year Challenge A) I work as well as homeschool a 12, 5,3 and have a 8month old. I don't have lot time. Plus we love but our director and the people are great. Really blessed with our campus! I think CC is what you want it to be. Do more of what you like, leave out what you don't. Use your own curricula or use what they suggest.
  14. Thank you😮. Did you find learning all the sounds at once confusing them?
  15. I did AAR pre-reading with my 5 year old and don't want to do it again. So I've been looking into Foundations A, but what do I need? It will be for my 4 year old. She knows some letters and cannot write. I've searched treads but found more info for B.
  16. We just used the grammar, and only the Magic Lens 1. We used R&S before that. But I do like the 4 level analysis!
  17. Thank you! I was thinking of using the IEW Fix it instead of books 2 and 3. So that is why I was asking about the info. I would have liked more explanation then what was taught on some of the topics. I did try and compare the levels by the info or samples online, and they do look the same.
